Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Bringing beverages on board as I suggested has been happening for years on cruises ships. But I do enjoy hearing from people who believe they are the smartest people in the room (or the board). 😊
  2. Kazu - How very self righteous 😂
  3. Another solution to bringing “free” wine or liquor on board is to use Rum Runners. They can be found on-line. After you fill them up with your choice of adult beverages place them mid level in your checked bags. Pro tip put each one in a zip lock bag in case of a leak. A few years ago on a NCL Hawaii cruise I had 6 bags with 750 ML each of wine undetected in my bags. Works well in the cabin or in a travel mug for the pool.
  4. You can heat water in the espresso machine for tea. Just make sure you don’t have a used pod in the machine. We did this for three weeks on the Splendor.
  5. Beatles??…ABBA?? I hope not. We got a heavy dose of this kind of music in 2019 on a Viking Ocean B2B. I also remember in December 22 and May 23 the Regent Orchestra had 6 -7 people.
  6. In regard to my original post "Does Regent periodically change their shows?" I sent an email to Jennefer asking that question. Below is her reply. I didn't ask when the 3–5 year time frame began on the different ships. At least I learned shows do change, but just don't know when. "Every ship has their own unique shows which usually runs for 3-5 years onboard, with cast members and songs changing often. So you will see entirely different productions on both Grandeur and Mariner. I hope that answers your question but please let me know if you need any additional info." Thanks! Jennefer Jennefer Teegen | Director of Guest Experience and Loyalty
  7. The 2024 cruise is on the Grandeur with the shows I mentioned. I agree quality of cast/show is important, but seeing something different would be nice. Avidtravler If you search for a particular cruise and go to Itinerary then scroll past cabins and itinerary you finds Shows.
  8. We completed two cruises in 2023 on the Splendor with last one in June. The same 4 shows, Bohemian Soul, Diamond Run, Crossroads, and Divos and Divas were performed on both cruises. We have another cruise booked for October 2024 and those same shows are listed again on the website. Does Regent periodically change their shows? Maybe what was shown on their website are notional shows or placeholders. Does anyone have recent experience or information on this subject? Hopefully, a Regent rep. will weigh-in
  9. Recently completed a Southampton to Southampton cruise on the Splendor. Water in plastic bottles was available on a table next to the ship exit for every excursion.
  10. Gary’s March 25 video on YouTube “Things that should not happen on a luxury cruise line” he wasn’t as positive re: Regent and some other lines. He mentioned pool “chairs hogs”, saving seats in the theater and lack of casual dining options in the evening to name a few. I especially liked it when he said “Money doesn’t buy you manners”.
  11. In my experience you can’t always rely on what is shown on the website for cabin availability. I tried to get a specific PH cabin & deck based on the website and my TA learned only 2 cabins were left. Good luck.
  12. Just got this email regarding a change in custom air Dear Valued Guest and Travel Partner, We would like to advise you of a change to our custom air process. As our airline partners continue to rebuild their operations, we have found that customizing air at 270 days prior to sailing can result in significant schedule changes. Therefore, to minimize the number of changes and to avoid the need to rebook flights, we are moving the date where guests can submit a custom air request to 210 days from departure. At Regent Seven Seas Cruises, we strive to provide An Unrivalled Experience, which includes providing the best possible service before you have even stepped on board, and with this change we are confident we can help streamline your custom air needs in the future. Thank you for your continued patronage, loyalty, and understanding as we continue to improve our custom air reservation policies and procedures. Your Regent Custom Air Department Team
  13. As the comedian Ron White one said “You can’t fix stupid”. In these cases you can’t fix people that believe they are entitled.
  14. Last week I sent an email to Jennifer Teegen RSSC Director of Guest Experience & Loyalty. No response from her yet. This is an extract of it: Even though Regent has a policy against “reserving” pool loungers it was widely ignored by many passengers by placing various items on loungers e.g. towels, hats, magazines etc. and then not occupied for many hours. This past December on the Splendor Holiday Cruise we witnessed a verbal confrontation between two passengers after one accused the other of moving his “stuff” off a lounger he had reserved. On another occasion the pool bar tender intervened between two passengers because the argument became so heated it almost became physical. One passenger in the argument was overheard saying he reserved the lounger at 6 AM. Amazing! Many passengers have stated on Cruise Critic and the Regent Seven Seas Cruise Friends Facebook page that the Regent policy against “Chair Hogs” should be enforced. However, I realize how to do this may not be so easy. It could put crewmembers in a very delicate situation. Some passengers believe they are entitled so they can do what they want and ignore the rules. I’d like to suggest one solution that may work. It seems the pool loungers that are in high demand (and being reserved) are the double wide ones in the shaded area on the main pool deck. I counted about 16 of them on Splendor. I can’t speak about the other ships as we have not sailed on those yet. I suggest a reservation system be established for the most desirable loungers. Number each of the 16 or so loungers. Each cabin could make ONE reservation per day for one or two loungers, for a 2 -hour time non-consecutive time period. If items are left on loungers after a reservation has expired they will be removed. Additional same day lounger use could be permitted if space permits and there or no other reservations. This system could be similar to that which is used for excursions and specialty dining reservation. You could select your lounger, date and time period on-line or on-board. You would receive a printed card with your lounger reservation info. When it’s your reservation time, and if the lounger is still occupied, you can just show the card to that person. I believe this system would help eliminate any passenger conflicts and arguments give everyone a fair opportunity to enjoy the pool amenities.
