Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I didn’t mention that Rock Opera & Spotlight bar are 2 production show on the Enchanted Princess & they are excellent. There was also a steel pan player that was great.
  2. Was on the Enchanted in December. Lots of passengers were sick & practically no hand sanitizer anywhere. Buffet & dining room food was not great. Shortage of staff everywhere. Long waits for service & food. Buffet often not replenished regularly & food quality & variety a disappointment. Check Princess web site Captains circle for elite benefit list but realize that some ships don’t provide all you are supposed to get. It seems to be at their discretion anymore. Coffee cards went away at least a year ago. If you don’t buy the all inclusive packages (which of course Princess wants you to do) you pay for each specialty coffee or beverages at the coffee bar. You cannot exchange the mini bar for a coffee card any longer. I found the pay extra for many things disappointing & the quality of the cruising experience a let down. I hope you will have a more positive experience than I did.
  3. Twice I had a refundable credit under $25. The ship refused to give me cash telling me I would be sent a cheque. I have never received any cheque & when I followed up was told “the cheque is in the mail” which I didn’t believe. This is stealing passengers money in my opinion. If Princess is not going to give passengers their money they should be open & honest about it (not something Princess is known for). They shouldn’t tell passengers something that isn’t true.
  4. If anyone has sailed recently, can you tell me if the “new” coffee Princess is advertising is available in the buffet & dining rooms or just at the International cafe? The news release isn’t clear if it is throughout the ship or only in specific areas. I will be on the Majestic in the near future so if anyone has been on that ship it would be good to know. The syrup + water coffee that Princess has served in the past was disgusting. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for your reply. Won’t have luggage as it is a port day. Yes, Princess docks at Smith Cove, pier 91 in September.
  6. Does anyone know if there are any free shuttles or low cost transportation from pier 91 to either the space needle or pike’s market? Looks like catching the bus could be a challenge on the bridge. Some cities tourism departments offer low cost shuttles to encourage ship passengers to explore the city. I’m not sure if .Seattle offers this. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for your thoughts. We both did the survey, made the customer service manager on the ship & our Princess planner aware of our unhappiness & dissatisfaction. After 2 1/2 months and follow up by the Princess planner I heard from the customer experience department. I was beyond dissatisfied with her attitude & lack of concern about our complaints with the smoking issue (there were several other issues on the cruise too which she was equally unconcerned about). Being loyal to Princess (almost 30 cruises) & giving them a lot of money over the years, we were stunned at the indifference the rep demonstrated. The customer service manager on board the ship was concerned but said it was a “corporate” decision to open up the aft area for crew smoking. It seems Princess is excelling at making excuses rather than actually listening to passenger concerns. We are aware there has been a smoking area on deck 7 for people to smoke. I just don’t want it inside the ship where thousands of passengers live for the duration of their cruise. I also don’t want it filtering into my balcony which is part of my living space. How Princess makes that happen is their responsibility to figure out. I don’t think that’s too much to ask after paying thousands of dollars for a trip.
  8. Thanks for your replies. I was aware of exchanging the mini bar for 2 coffee cards (for elite) but don’t feel it’s a good value for us for a couple of decent cups of coffee a day. We might use a couple specialty coffees in a week. I prefer some items from the mini bar. The coffee cards only record the specialty coffees & the brewed coffee is unlimited.
  9. On our September/October cruise we had propulsion issues. Over 3 hours late getting back to Vancouver. The Captain made up some story that no one believed, that a pod of whales held the ship up. Ah sure… Lots & Lots of noise, shuttering & vibration in aft cabin & dining room in aft location. We always chose aft cabins that do have some vibration. This was the worst we have ever experienced. Also had 3 fires on board. The ship definitely is beyond its life span. We won’t travel the Crown again.
  10. I believe it has some use. Printing is one reason. Some people like to look at a bigger screen than a phone or iPad provides. But…I wouldn’t plan on help there is you need it. The ships rely upon volunteers to spend some time in the cafe’s to do some basic problem solving. Sometimes they can help. Often, they can’t. Staffing the cafe’s with an actual internet manager as they used to, is something being eliminated according to a ship crew member I spoke to when I needed help for non functioning wifi. Princess has SO many issues with their internet, they need a properly informed crew member there.
  11. I know the older Princess ships are still using a liquid concentrate mixed with water to make the so called coffee they serve in the buffet, room service & dining rooms. I heard the newer ships were actually using ground coffee for the coffee they are serving in the buffet, dining rooms, etc. I realize you can pay for the “freshly ground” coffee at the International cafe but I hope to enjoy a decent cup of coffee without paying for it. I also realize some like the concentrate coffee. I’m just not one of them. Can anyone tell me if they know what form of coffee is on the newer ships?
  12. I’m not sure why Princess continues to differentiate dining nights, calling some formal night. It implies formal like dress. That doesn’t exist anymore. Our cruise a few months ago had people dressed in frayed jeans, cowboy & baseball hats, t-shirts, runners, etc. I would say dress as you like. I think if you turn up with “some clothes on” you won’t be denied entry!
  13. I would suggest anyone be careful using EzAir. We often booked our flights using that avenue. Then we had our first ship delay returning to our home port in almost 30 cruises. We were left to fend for ourselves as we missed our flight home as a result of the delay. We spent 24 hours going back & forth between a front desk (waiting up to an hour at the desk as they didn’t answer the phone ) & “head office” to get our flight changed. The ship can do nothing except pass a message along. In the end we got a flight from Princess that required a 10 wait at the airport for a one hour flight home with flights leaving about every hour. We ended up booking our own flight home AND paying for it too. Princess could care less.
