Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Would like to share that recently on Splendor in Caribbean we had most loungers around the pool in the shade either with people in them or saved with items. At 9am. I am a ship destination cruiser. So about day 5 I found a lounger and removed items (ship brochure) to another location middle lounger before the pool. The people beside me in their loungers said “good for you” and I had a love time until lunch and no one came to get the brochure by noon.
  2. Just did the Vibrant Tokyo post cruise around Japan and agree that the value is the Hilton and transport from ship and to airport. The convenience store in basement egg salad sandwiches are great for picnics in beautiful nearby park. Which has a nice shrine to visit. Also did Denny’s for dinner which was very inexpensive and just fine. The Hilton restaurants are pricy and service very slow in their Grill. But food is good. After disembarking Explorer we found the first day tour exhausting. Visited geodesic view dome in Olympic village then forced march around big park followed by long walks to have bad Japanese lunch with another long walk to Shrine. As much as I love touring in huge cities expecting crowds and traffic this day left most of us feeling exhausted so we had to miss 2 nd day tour to museum and shopping area. Decided to do our own thing on day 3 as well! Negotiating Japanese transportation is challenging but fun as people are ready to help and will actually accompany you to the right spot!
  3. Thank you Roland4 for your great info about your cruise. Makes me hungry for mushroom soup. Tomorrow we board Explorer in Vancouver and sail to Japan. Greetings to Monica. Cheers!
  4. Yes I meant to say Passages on the bed with the chocolate. Don’t know why I wrote Reflections. A senior moment. Glad they still do it as it’s important to us.
  5. Or like on Seabourn Quest we recently had to ask for it to be delivered as we were expected to use personal devices instead to find out about daily schedule. Nobody liked this at all. And there was bad communication re timing and locations of daily activities. Some tech changes are not really an improvement!
  6. Wendy. I like the idea we share the Canadian newspaper and leave it in library. we will do this in future.
  7. Tote bags, luggage tags and lovely trivia prizes and jackets. Who cares what jacket or tote we use? I pick the best quality tote. Lined with inner zipped pockets. And quality counts. NOT the tote just offered on Seabourn Quest which I left for them to pawn off with chocolates which were not so good. We frequent cruisers know and appreciate quality gifts.
  8. We have returned home and started COVID 2 days after disembarking Quest. We have had 4 shots and been on several trips avoiding COVID over past 2 and half years. We noticed many more little tables outside cabins towards end of cruise. Hardly ever saw a mask just a few crew. We have bad coughs and aching muscles and joints. I also have bad headache. But feel it was inevitable we would eventually get COVID.
  9. Actually am on Seabourn right now and there is no paper like Passages. All online and it takes awhile to figure out. Everyone is on their devices. My husband hates it so we went to computer centre and printed out daily activities.
  10. We walked to ship with carryons in 10 min and were on board in our ready suite within 45 min from leaving hotel. Amazingly quick. So happy to be aboard beautiful ship on gentle river. Meeting nice people and enjoying wonderful meals and good service. Trees are starting to turn.
  11. Bonjour CalmSea Enjoyed wonderful dinner at Auberge St Gabriel last night. Old Montreal is great. See you around the ship. Wonder what they will decide regarding Fiona.
  12. Help! We are going on a hurricane cruise. Flying to Montreal tomorrow hope we visit you in Toronto instead but would like the Saguenay idea too.
