interesting to me that people consider the mdr embarkation lunch heavy, i've always found it to be pretty light and small portions perhaps it is just what i pick, and i don't think i always pick the same thing. *shrug* . i've turned my folks onto it and now we always try and get on the ship early to get tor lunch. souflee, i wish they had the orange one again during the cruise, it is better than the chocolate ones, which are still delicious.

yes you can buy an internet package, and i recommend it for this reason, communication. my folks and i were trying to use the princess app, but it is slow, and poorly designed and doesn't let you know when you receive chats. we bought 1 internet package for 4 devices and then we used imessage since we all had iphones. it worked well to coordinate. could we have lived with out it, sure, but it made the cruise nicer for us as we could tell each other where we were if we wanted to meet up. my mom also had the dog boarded where they have cams and upload pictures everyday, so she could keep an eye on their dog. buddy also needed some vet work done, so mom could communicate with the vet. *sigh* i know it isn't popular that some people want internet, but it worked well for us. we did not have plus and had ~$300 on board credit, and used it up with just a little over after our drinks. we do not drink enough to make the packages worth it for us.

i hate they took away true traditional dining. i don't care about table mates, none have been so horrible, and one i am still friends with long after that cruise. i saw they have the option in the app to have the same table every night, BUT none of the times or dining rooms seemed to have that available for any option, i tired private and shared tables at every time at every dining room. what i miss is knowing the waitstaff and specifically they knowing me. i am super bad with names, so it sucks to learn new names every night. also i have food allergies, so every night i have to massively explain my issues instead of them going over it night one and making notes they reference each night. on one cruise,

yeah i do that, but like i said, i forgot one last time and couldn't get the kindle to play nice with the hotel wifi log in. just wondering if anyone has used it for dl books on a kindle.

considering getting the internet package, and i wondered if the kindle paperwhites, mine is a current model purchased last year, can connect to the internet. i've had trouble sometimes travelling and connecting to hotel wifi when i wanted to dl sometime i forgot to add. in my last case, it was a knitting pattern. i thought i had it downloaded but i guess i missed that pattern. i'm not considering the internet solely for kindle ,just wondering if it would work or not. i was also wondering if there were benefits to buying before boarding or just wait until on ship to buy. cruising out of Seattle on royal to alaska, if where makes a difference.

this is disappointing. one thing i liked about cruising is i didn't have to make a bunch of decisions. they are seeming to do away with that and having all kinds of micro charges. i always referred to cruise as vacation in a box, i didn't have to think much, i bought and paid upfront and then pretty much everything was included except drinks. now if you don't choose a level of all included package, then you have to think about the drip of cost creep with each micro charge. it isn't that the fees themselves are outrageous, it is that he concept of cruising is changing that irks me they don't offer levels of the package that avoid the drink packages. they include things not everyone wants like picture packages, exercise classes, ridiculous desserts. they haven't managed to make a package level that interests me, so i'll either do ith out or just pay the individual surcharge. but then i'll be annoyed by th surcharge cost creep. i'm not sure i'm going to stop cruising, but it wil make me give other lines an eye, although i suspect this happens over there as well.

the site you are looking at is likely embargoed until princess officially publishes their schedule. this is common in many industries, movies, concert, sports, music, any kind of news really, even if the glacier bay people have to know, they can't publish until princess says they can. if you think about it, it makes sense, why would princess make a big deal of schedule launch if everyone could just figure out the schedule by going to look at port schedules

oh the order is there, but the way it is displayed is just not obvious. it looks like i still should order something and the receipt involved too many clicks to get to the point where i can see what i ordered. i work with a bunch of ux people, so this kind fo thing jumps out at me. mobile apps should be optimized to least amount of clicking. but really it is sending me an email after i have already made my order that says i still need to order. it wasn't a race condition, i placed my order over a month ago, this email shouldn't have been sent to me.

i know i placed an order for my medallions when i made final payment, so why is princess sending me mail about making sure i order my medallions becuas ei only have a week left to do so. they have to know i ordered, they should be able to target emails to just users who haven't ordered the medallion who are eligible. i know my company can make cohorts like that for our email targeting. also the app doesn't make it really obvious that i did already place my order, it just says shop. i like the medallions, its the marketing and communication around it. also the app is painfully slow.

i think you have the answer that you can do it. personally what i would do in your situation is bring my passport and my birth certificate. I think you will be fine on a closed loop cruise.and don't forget to renew your passport when you get back. i'm going in august, and my passport expired next year, so i will look to renew after cruise because i travel to canada and uk for work.

we booked some excursions through princess, but i'm 35 days out and i'm having second guesses. Royal Princess leaving seattle 8/19 for Juneau, Best of Juneau: Whale Watching, Mendenhall Glacier & Orca Point Lodge Meal and for Ketchikan Saxman Native Village, Dance Performance & Totem Park i was wondering if anyone has done these through princess and/or had alternate recommendations. for skagway, we have a tour booked though Chilkoot Charters for train and bus, hoping the train isn't on strike, but even if, i think they are the top recommended charter there, so i feel pretty confident on that choice. i'm booking for 4 adults, my partner and my parents. need light to moderate exertion due to some health issues. so kayaking is out.
