Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. This is the verbiage on website. The package includes all, fountain sodas, and cans of soda and juices (excluding the fresh juice bar), mocktails, and smoothies as per the menu. Specifically excludes fresh juice BAR but not fresh juice. The juice bar has some fancy juice concoctions so excluding I suppose makes sense. All I wanted was a glass of orange juice from a real orange. To me the word “all” referenced juices. Why list something that is free to everyone? That’s more my point. A bit deceptive.
  2. I was wondering if anyone has experience with the updated Classic Soda package. This trip I paid $14.99 a day plus 18% gratuity. A great increase over previous years packages but it included all fountain drinks, cans of soda, juices, mocktails and smoothies. (All being the defining word for me) First morning at breakfast I asked for fresh orange juice. Told not included in the classic package. Waiter pointed to the list of juices anyone can order. OJ that tastes like sugar water ( think Tang!) Checked with GS. They printed out the same list as the website and he said ‘fresh ‘ juice not included. I chatted with Princess Chat and got no where. She copy pasted the same blurb as the website. Could not define “juices”. Why is Princess listing juice that is available to everyone? That’s like including water and iced tea coffee on their list. It’s free. You don’t list it as a perk. So no fresh juice for me. 😰 On to my search for a smoothie. Another wild goose chase. I’ve been to no less than 4 locations including two bars . The juice bar. The back of the ship. There’s one more suggested stop. The Piazza where they sell gelato. Haven’t gotten there yet. So…. Anyone have success with anything other than soda from the list of included items. I did get a can of Diet Coke. (Whoopie!) so there’s that. Thanks for any suggestions. $124 is a lot for a few glasses of Diet Coke.
  3. Was wondering if the lamps on the nightstands on Discovery Princess have a USB port? I like to use my phone as a clock at night and much easier if cable did not have to be strung across the floor. Any other USB near the desk? We have a mini suite if that matters.
  4. I spoke to SIX CS reps yesterday trying to resolve an issue. No 1 person was a rep in the Philippines. Haven’t been cruising since COVID so didn’t know the location of said rep other than I could not understand him. But fear not, he passed me on to no 2 rep (had to repeat problem) but at least minimal accent. This went on 4 more times until 6th CS rep resolved issue. But I had to repeat the story from the start each time. Total time on phone ~almost 3 hours. Im giving myself Patience of the Year award. So frustrating. Hold time very long just to start the process. Did a call back. That helped
  5. I have noticed that many of the tables for two are situated along the long bench-like seats around the dining room with a space between tables just large enough for a small person to squeeze through while they shove their butt in the face to the person on the other side. 🤣 Then you have the issue of small talk with your neighbors. I find this arrangement even worse than a table for 10 where you know you'll be small talking with the people there. If I select the option for table for 2, it's probably because I don't want to chit chat with a stranger. I hate to be rude so I engage, but it's clearly not what I had in mind when I requested a two top. I understand the need to be flexible with seating. This arrangement allows for two tables for 2 or one table for four or many combinations. But it's not an enjoyable experience for me. Not sure there's much of a solution. The dining rooms are really designed for rounds of 10, not 5 small tables of 2.
  6. This is not a major issue for most cruisers, or in fact, a fair number of cruisers. But if you are the party affected by this, it is a major issue. The app needs to have a designation for large group and move it up the ladder to someone who can affect the solution manually. The way the system is now, there would be no way to know that your two tables (if that was your option for 11 people) would be near each other. Things used to be so simple. I know because we have cruised with large groups - on Princess, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. A note was placed in the reservation system and our tables were right next to each other. Can't imagine the app being able to do that. If this was me, I'd call the DMW team and see what they suggest. I have a feeling waiting til you board will not get the outcome you wish if the ship is crowded.
