Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I agree that it's disappointing about the power doors. We booked the summit right after its renovation because our travel agent said they were adding power doors. They did not. We now using anew travel agent. For more reasons than just that but it was kind of the final straw. I hope you have the same high quality room Steward we had. He seemed to have magic powers. I would head down the hallway and he would appear out of nowhere and open the door for me most of the time.
  2. FYI on the Millie the accessible cabins do not have power doors. The power doors are only available on S and E class ships. As a wheelchair user the power doors are very important to me so we no longer sale on the M class. Which is a shame because I really like the ships. Also on M class ships water from the shower will go all over the bathroom unless you make a towel dam
  3. Thanks for the pictures. I've added the aquarium to my list of places to see in September when we are on the reflection
  4. Last fall on the Silhouette they let us join the concierge lunch.
  5. I think it's been answered but yes celebrity always has crewmembers to help stabilize my wheelchair going up and down the ramps. My wheelchair has power so they don't usually have to push but I have seen them pushing other guests.
  6. There are several features of keep me loyal to celebrity. No indoor smoking. Other lines limit smoking to the casino or a closed off cigar lounge but to me the smoke smell permeates the entire ship. The accessible cabins on S & E class ships have power doors. As do most restrooms and access points to the outdoors. To most people this is I'm sure of minor point but as a wheelchair user it's an enormous plus. They seem to have more accessible tours available than other lines. And finally the crew. The crew always seems to be friendly and willing to help.
  7. I am a 99% full time wheelchair. I can do transfers and walk three or four steps provided I'm wearing my braces. We have not traveled on all of the cruise ships by any stretch of the imagination. We have pretty much settled on celebrity S and E class. The primary reason is power doors for the cabin and all outdoor access points. While it is possible for me to Open a cabin door it is very difficult. With celebrities accessible cabins on S or E class simply insert key card and the door opens. Sounds like a little thing but it makes a big difference to me. Obviously a tender port is out of the question for me. However we will take a Cruise that has a tender port if my wife wants to see that location she can take a tour. Honestly it's kind of fun to run around the ship what is 99% empty. .In most Caribbean ports celebrity offers an accessible tour.
  8. E Class pros over S class. Four main dining room instead of one. Quieter and more interesting .Eden is a hidden gem. Great shows, good food, very quiet in the daytime, easy find a spot to read or meditate with an aft view. The new theater in is spectacular. I can't think of any cons for me. The infinite veranda seems to be a downgrade for a lot of people on cruise critic. I like it but I am in a wheelchair. Getting out on the regular balcony is difficult even though there is a ramp in accessible cabins because of the heavy sliding door. With the infinite veranda, I can wheel up to the window and lower it to get fresh air.
  9. Looking forward to hearing more. We are also frequent celebrity cruisers. However next fall we are scheduled to take the Queen Elizabeth from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona. We will then stay in Barcelona several days and catch the reflection for a Mediterranean and then back to Fort Lauderdale. We will also be in the Queen's grill but in Q4. I think. So I will be very interested in your comparison.
  10. I have luggage tags for the second leg. Same room. I have called and emailed. Last email said we can't seem to email you the guest booklet so just go to the dock and They will print them for you there. I know this will work but things are hectic embarkation day. Since I have too much time on my hands I thought about just printing off the second leg luggage tags scratching out the date and using them. Thoughts?
  11. Must be a popular first timer cruise we will also be first time Cunard boarding in Fort Lauderdale exiting in Barcelona in 2023.
  12. As George Bernard Shaw said: "England and America are two countries separated by a common language"
  13. I am not a huge sushi fan. But the shrimp and scallop hot pot dynamite is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Spicy but not overly so. PS the general consensus in our area is sushi would be fine if it was rolled in corn meal and deep-fried 😂
  14. A big plus to us is celebrities no smoking indoors policy. On the lines that allow smoking indoors, even if only in the casino, I can still smell smoke inside the ship in various locations. And somehow it seems like I always need to walk through the casino😊.
  15. They are screw top but very hard to open. I always ask whoever hands me the can to open it for me. Also be aware the little ring that stays around the neck of the bottle can have some sharp points.
