Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I don't even think she'll miss it if she doesn't know it's an option. This is a freebie cruise for her since Mom and I are paying for it. We are ok with the main dining room for our dinner meals. 🙂 Appreciate your input though.
  2. What you have pointed out above is how I don't want her to feel on her very first cruise so I may just scratch my idea.
  3. Thank you. My sister has so many food restrictions I'm now thinking we do this restaurant when she isn't with us. It may just be too much for a set menu.
  4. I would love to try Le Petit Chef on our upcoming cruise. It's a girls trip (Mom and two daughters). My sister has never been on a cruise and we are taking her for her 50th to Alaska. However, she has dietary restrictions ~ gluten free, no garlic/onions, lactose free plus other restrictions. Has anyone done this specialty restaurant with dietary restrictions and if so, how did it go? It would be nice to do this on her birthday but I also don't want her to have any GI issues that could be avoided by sticking to the main dining room. I will be reaching out to the Special Needs department so they have her information on file.
  5. I thought maybe behind the "black door" you see in some of the videos, that would be where the 360 venue is hiding. 🤷‍♀️
  6. The Abbotsford Airport is a smaller airport about an hour's drive from DT Vancouver, on a good day and no snarled traffic. Vancouver Airport is much closer with less expensive options to get there. You can either take the Canada Line, Uber, Taxi, or cruiseline transfer. Your only option to get to Abbotsford would be using Uber. I would go with YVR.
  7. Great information. As I have plenty of time before sail date (October '24), I will definitely be filing through some of the hotel threads. A friend of my is going to be staying at Margaritaville in Hollywood Beach soon and she's going to let me know what she thinks of it as an option for us. As we plan to fly into Miami a couple of days before sailing, our options are open as to where to stay.
  8. Thank you all for your input. The last time we stayed in Ft Lauderdale was 2010. We plan to fly into Miami as we can get a direct flight from Vancouver. Miami is also an option as we stayed here in 2019 and we'll just uber our way on sailaway day to the ship.
  9. It has been a minute since we stayed in a Ft Lauderdale hotel for a cruise. I'm curious as to where people are choosing to stay these days before/after their cruise. We are looking at booking a cruise that sails from Ft Lauderdale and coming from the West Coast of Canada, we do need arrive a day or two before the sailing date. Guidance would be appreciated. 🙂
  10. I'm enjoying your live posting. It makes me excited to join the ship on the same itinerary October 15.
  11. I usually book one-way flights for each cruise when doing a b2b with EZAir. Departure on the first cruise and Return on the second. It works for me.
  12. If eating in the main dining room, on the first night let your waiters know you have a food restriction. First not is always the most difficult so you really have to make the choices yourself as they won't have anything prepped. You can then ask to speak with a head waiter about the dietary restriction. He will visit your table each night at the end of your meal and bring you the menu for the next night where you can choose your meal which will be prepped low/no sodium. On our last cruise pre-covid, I had the best head waiter and he made sure to come. If you do plan on eating in the Crown Grill, you can visit the night before and let them know you will be there the next night. They will put a note on your reservation and do their best. No fancy salts with the steak.
