Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I have booked multiple cruises on Princess. I was able to access my 2 cruises I booked a few months ago to book dining times. However, on our next cruise which we just booked, I cannot for the life of me find where to go to even see the other cruises, let alone book a dining time for our 3rd cruise. I can only see the upcoming cruise we are going on. Any advice?

  3. It would seem pretty obvious that Princess’ only concern is to make as much money as possible. The bidding system is a way to generate more income by making the purchaser gamble on a bid. Granted, if you lose the bid there is no cost to you, but by telling you that you have been outbid and then suggesting that you increase your bid to better your chances is simply wanting to take more money away from you. I’m pretty sure that if I were to up my bid in a way to put me in the lead, an email would immediately go out to my rivals to suggest they up their bid. Only way to defeat this is if everyone bids the minimum and lets Princess choose randomly who wins.
  4. Worst DMW experience ever. We are Princess elite level cruisers and have never encountered what we did this summer. 11 day Alaska cruise. We were assigned DMW. Went to the host desk as soon as we boarded. They could not give us a time until after 8 pm each and every evening. There was not compromise. Trust me, we tried. For the first time in our Princess cruising experience, we ate mostly in the buffet. Luckily, the food was pretty good. We would have, however, preferred to eat in the main dining room. Our main complaint was that if you assign DMW, then there should be availability earlier than 8 pm. In our case, there wasn't. Just be aware that if your cruise ship is full, that is a possibility.
  5. It seems to me that it would be such an easy fix, and yet for Princess it doesn't seem to bother them that the product they are offering is for the most part inedible. Yes, bring in the Frosty from Wendy's, MacDonalds, or even Costco... anything would be better and more consistent than what is offered on the Princess Ships. Maybe if we get malba2366 to work as a supervisor for the fleet that would improve things.
  6. I am pretty sure that the soft "ice cream" on Princess is really "frozen dessert" and should be labelled as such. I know it is such a minor problem, but it just amazes me that a cruise line like Princess, where most if not all the eateries serve average to above average fare, cannot figure out how to serve a decent soft ice cream consistently fleet wide. Celebrity does. MacDonals does. Even Costco does.
  7. We were on Back to Back. The first week the soft ice cream machine was down, so they were serving vanilla and or strawberry and or chocolate from the canisters... real ice cream... that was delicious. Then they fixed it. One try and that was that for the remainder of the cruise!
  8. Maybe on the Island it was better. Never sailed with her. On our last 3 cruises (Caribbean/Sky/Discovery) in the last few months, the soft serve was pretty much all the same. And yes, there were people who did partake in the product. However, there was never ever a great demand for it...
  9. Why does anyone care why someone would choose to eat or not to eat at speciality restaurants? Get over it everyone. Those who choose to eat there, good for you if it makes you happy. Those of you who don't, good for you if it makes you happy. No need to justify why you would or wouldn't. The question was, "Is it worth it?" And before he or she could get an answer, they booked 4 specialty restaurants... go figure. Yes it is, because you like it. No it isn't because you are satisfied with the food at the buffet and or the MDR. END OF STORY!
  10. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same about the soft ice cream offered on all Princess cruise ships we have sailed? It is absolutely nasty. On occasion we have found it tolerable, but for the most part the soft ice cream looks plastic and tastes awful. Is it that hard to make a product that so many other places have no issue making? The soft ice cream on Celebrity is consistent and delicious every time we have been on one of their ships. MacDonalds make a consistent good product every time. Pretty much every where you go to have soft ice cream it is usually good or great. Not so on Princess. IMHO!
  11. Just got off Discovery Princess. What a lovely ship. Unfortunately, the smoke escaping from the casino could be inhaled throughout the piazza area on all floors. In adults who do not smoke, secondhand smoke exposure can cause coronary heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, and other diseases. It can also result in premature death. Secondhand smoke can cause adverse reproductive health effects in women, including low birth weight.
  12. Just got off side to side cruises: Sky and Apex. What a difference with no smoking inside on Apex. With Sky, anytime you wandered anywhere near the casino you would be inhaling toxic cigarette fumes. Long time Princess cruisers, first time on Celebrity, and now considering switching brands due to indoor smoking.
  13. 3 cruises since November 2021. First 2 cruises, no issues. Protocols on the ship were fairly strict. Masks mandated and majority of guests complied. 3rd cruise in March / April. No mask mandate. All activities allowed. Karaoke, games where there was a lot of encouraged shouting and sharing. We wore masks when it was crowded and when we were near large groups. Started feeling ill the last day of the 18 day cruise. Got home, wife tested +. I tested + 3 days later. Chat on the cruise critic indicated many people were in the same boat:). Good news, all well now.
  14. Went on a cruise in December 2021 and then one in February 2022. All protocols were mandated. No one got sick. Went on Caribbean Princess 18 day in April. Most people not wearing masks. Many large groups hanging out, many game shows / activities / karaoke etc (super spreaders). If you go to the roll call, you'll see many more than 2 people ended up with covid. Time for Princess and all other cruise lines to bring back strict mandates. It didn't hurt any of our fun the first 2 times. Put a mask on!
  15. Do NOT use Viator. Terrible, terrible service agents and products.
