Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. To all of you who told us to wear our tuxes and enjoy ourselves: Thank you! Were we in the minority as far as being dressed up? Yes! Did we enjoy ourselves and look damn good? Yes! We got many approving nods as we proudly wore our tuxedos on both formal nights. Thank y’all to everyone who encouraged us to go ahead and wear our tuxes!
  2. I am Diamond status in the RCI loyalty program. This affords me a match as Elite in the Celebrity program. While cruising on a RCI ship, my status affords me 4 alcoholic drinks throughout the day provided they are $14 or less. I’m a little confused as to the offering Celebrity gives for their Elite status. From what I read, there is essentially a “happy hour” where guests meet and eligible members are offered complimentary drinks. Is this only during a certain time of the day? Is it at a specific venue on the ship? I’m so confused. TIA
  3. I have read reviews that the Mount Isabel cable car has been recently out of commission. Does anyone know if the repairs have been made?
  4. I know this is a very touchy subject but I have seen several posts regarding how Royal’s food quality has gone south recently. My husband and I were on a Celebrity cruise last January to Antarctica and we found the food superb. Can anyone expound on this? We have not cruised Royal since before the pandemic.
  5. Several years ago my husband and I purchased tuxedos for the sole purpose of wearing them on formal nights when we cruise. Over the last few years, we have noticed that the percentage of folks “dressing up” has decreased quite a bit. We have not cruised on Royal since the pandemic. Our most recent cruise was a Celebrity Cruise to Antarctica last January. We noticed on that cruise that very few guys were wearing a tux on formal night. My question for recent Royal cruisers is are we going to be the only guys wearing a tux?
  6. Are there any times/venues that offer complementary sushi or is it only offered in Izumi?
  7. What are my options for lunch dining on embarkation day aboard Adventure? I know Windjammer will be packed and I have read that many folks go to the Solarium Bistro for a much smaller crowd. When I look at deck plans, I don’t see a Solarium Bistro on Adventure. Can anyone confirm this? I find it suspect.
  8. You would benefit from a travel agent who specializes in cruising. Ours has been a blessing.
  9. Does anyone have any opinion on this specialty dining event? We don’t usually do specialty dining per se but I thought this would be a good way to get a little sampling of the different dining options onboard. Thoughts?
  10. Never, ever, ever book a guarantee cabin. That being said, RCI should be ashamed of themselves.
  11. We are Diamond level. If I understand this correctly, this affords me 4 drinks up to a certain $ amount each day. I enjoy a Grey Goose martini in the evening. I would assume the price of the martini would exceed the price afforded in the 4 drink Diamond level. Do I just pay the difference or do I pay full price?
  12. I have looked at the port’s parking website. Is it possible/necessary to reserve parking ahead of time or can we just show up?
  13. We are cruising out of Port Canaveral in January on Adventure of the Seas. I have a question about the parking situation. First of all, from what I see, RCCL cruises out of terminal 1. So, I should plan on parking there? Can anyone help me with this? I really want to get off the ship, walk to my car and get the hell outta there. What can y’all advise me?
  14. My husband and I have been exclusively Royal Caribbean/Celebrity cruisers for the past 18 cruises but are eyeing an NCL cruise. I have questions about the “Free at Sea” program. How does all of that work? Is the included WiFi fast enough to conduct day to day surfing or will I need to upgrade? I know that on a recent Celebrity cruise the included WiFi was abysmal and an upgrade was required for even basic internet surfing. We are not big specialty restaurant folks but exactly what credit am I getting withe the Free at Sea program? I assume it is a certain $$ amount applied to the surcharge of each individual restaurant. Is that the case? If so, will I need to pay anyway to dine in a specialty restaurant? Is the included alcohol package like buying a drink package on other cruise lines or is it set at a certain # of drinks? I’m so confused.
  15. We have only cruised once since the pandemic. It was an Infinity cruise to Antarctica this past January. I did not notice any problem with the offerings in the MDR. We usually are RCI cruisers and have read that after the pandemic they have rolled out a pared down MDR menu and folks have expressed that the food quality has indeed gone downhill. My question is if anyone has noticed a decline in MDR offerings on Celebrity?
