  1. FYI - Even though the app states it needs your request for OBC three weeks prior to departure, I am leaving on Saturday, submitted my request for OBC yesterday (Wednesday) and received confirmation the same day.
  2. CruiserBruce, thank you! I never got past posting on this thread to read any other.
  3. Thanks, kazu. I’ll call Monday if it is not restored before then.
  4. I went into my HAL account this morning and found it mostly wiped out. It had my name, no address, my next booking was gone and it states I have zero cruise credits. It was basically an account shell for me. I’ll have to call them when they open. Frustrating.
  5. DaveinCharlotte, I’ll be interested to learn what the ACL Rep tells you when you call if you don’t mind posting back. I can only relay what I was told by the rep who spoke to me last week.
  6. I do. I was on the Independence this week and tried to book the Napa Valley Cruise onboard. I was told to call customer service and the ACL representative told me ACL had been denied permission to come into San Francisco and they were no longer taking bookings for that cruise. If you have booked this cruise, call ACL as it is canceled.
  7. I’m a solo with ACL. A “May I join your table?” 99.99% of the time met with a “yes”. If not a “yes”, they’ll say they are saving the seats for friends. I met and got to know others on board through dining with others. I usually rotate myself around to dine with new people.
  8. I am leaving Thursday for Portland. Hoping my flight are on schedule as I have two plane changes getting there. Friday will be my day to explore Portland - thanks everyone again for the suggestions - and Saturday the cruise begins. This will be #10 for me, so the next one will be complementary. I am considering the Napa/California cruise for that one. Does anyone know if the complementary cruise has a limit on the number of days? I’ll return after my cruise with a brief review.
  9. I was on the Grand South America and Antarctica cruise Jan. 3rd to March 18th. The friend I was traveling with contracted Covid and was placed in a quarantine cabin as I tested negative. She received a FCC for the days (7) she was quarantined. I was required to be tested every day for 6 consecutive days and was free to go about my plans as long as I continued to test negative.
  10. It is also listed as a shore excursion for my Maine Coast and Harbors cruise in July!!
  11. Thank you chengkp75 and PlanoTim. I’m getting very excited for my ACL cruise in Maine this July!
  12. Hello - I am booked on the Maine Coast and Harbors Cruise in July. Looking for any information, suggestions, recommended excursions, etc. from anyone who has been on this cruise. I have made final payment and booked the pre-cruise package for one night (pricey, but close in price to similar hotels in July near the waterfront). Also, I am flying in two days early (in case of flight issues) so I will hopefully have a full day before the cruise to see the sights in Portland. Staying at a close to the airport hotel the first night. I appreciate any recommendations you may have of points of interest that you enjoyed in the city. Thank you!
  13. Hi - Yes, there is a variety of wash and dry temps. I wrote on the laundry sheet on my recent cruise if certain clothes needed a cold wash, low dry, special handling, etc. and clothes were perfectly washed/cleaned per my instructions.
  14. I don’t believe you can get an exemption today if you were going on the cruise. It could change by 2024. Be prepared, though, that you may not be able to go if a booster is still required.
  15. Keep checking back online to see if there is an opening. There is the ability to remove one’s excursion online before you leave even if already booked. Otherwise, you’ll have to see what is possible once you are onboard. There is a shore excursion presentation usually the first afternoon. Plan to attend.
  16. Shore Excursions Continued: Cincinnati, Ohio Cincinnati City Experience - City tour of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky suburbs. Worthwhile 3 hour excursion, mostly on the bus with a few stops. National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Contemporary Art Center Exploration - I signed onto this excursion; however, it was canceled as it did not have enough interest. Maysville, Kentucky Discover Maysville - Hometown of Rosemary Clooney, singer and actress. I signed onto this excursion as I am interested in vintage theaters and it included a visit to The Russell Theater where her first movie premiered. Old Washington Exploration - Early Kentucky village with authentic frontier log cabins and early 19th century homes. Both of these excursions were offered at the same time. Marietta, Ohio Ohio River Museums Shuttle - This is a continuous loop to Campus Martius and Ohio River Museum, The Castle Historic House and Children's Toy and Doll Museum. The boat is docked within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants if the museums are not of interest to you. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Pittsburgh City Experience - Three hour city tour of Pittsburgh which I enjoyed. The Andy Warhol Museum - We had a docent-led tour divided into two groups. I learned alot about the art and life of Andy Warhol that I did not know about previously. Fabulous! Senator John Heinz History Center Exploration I'm happy to answer any questions. Great crew all around. I did book another cruise for 2023 while onboard taking advantage of the onboard booking discount. You won't be disappointed if you decide to book the Ohio River Cruise.
  17. I returned home from the cruise on August 16th and finally have an opportunity to report back on the Ohio River Cruise. It was a wonderful experience and I met alot of nice people on this cruise, some with whom I'll stay in contact. I promised some shore excursion information when I returned, so I am including it below. The ports, of course, are always subject to change, so yours may be different than mine. Paducah, Kentucky Paducah Local Loop - Hop-on, Hop-Off Bus around Paducah Paducah City Experience and National Quilt Museum We were docked there all day. I just got off and walked around a bit as I had previously been to Paducah on the Cumberland River Cruise in 2019 (which has been discontinued). I had previously been on the Paducah City Experience and National Quilt Museum excursion in 2019 and would recommend it to you. Evansville, Indiana Evansville Local Loop - Hop-On, Hop-Off Bus around Evansville Audubon Museum and Nature Center - I was on this excursion and enjoyed it. It interprets the life of John Audubon, famed artist and naturalist. Worthwhile, but not enough time to see all that was offered here. Self-guided. Evansville Wartime Museum Louisville, Kentucky Day 1 The Frazier Kentucky History Museum Exploration Downtown Louisville Shuttle - Bus drop off and pick up at two locations in downtown Louisville. Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory - I am a baseball fan so I signed onto this excursion. If you like baseball, you'll enjoy seeing the museum and the baseball bat factory. We had a docent-led tour in the factory. More than enough time to see everything here. Day 2 Kentucky Derby Museum and Horse Park - Almost everyone went on this excursion. Don't miss it, it was one of the highlights of the cruise. To Be Con't - It is raining and lightning here, so submitting this portion now in case I lose power.
  18. Made it safely to St. Louis with no flight issues and my included transportation was waiting for me. Checked into the hotel and room was ready. Received my welcome packet at the front desk and information for tomorrow. Very smooth travel day. I’ll provide some thoughts on the cruise when I return home. Looking forward to 10 relaxing days on the river.
  19. The cruise is a go. I received a surprise notification from ACL that since I booked my air with them, they will be providing me with included transportation from the airport in St. Louis to the Drury, the ACL pre-cruise hotel. I’ll be met at baggage claim. Nice. I called to confirm and ask a few questions and was told it was a new service for those who booked air through ACL. I cancelled my previous transportation arrangements. I also received an email that others have received on their cruises that there will be no wi-fi on board. Starting to pack. Keeping my fingers crossed that I have no flight issues.
  20. Decided to find out the current position of the American Heritage. It is on a cruise from New Orleans to St. Louis, going to Natchez, Mississippi. Will continue to follow its position using Cruise Mapper.
