  1. We - myself and my children and their spouses - and 2 grandchildren (22 and7) just returned on July 3 from Bermuda on the Pearl. We were in the 3 bed GV and it was absolutely wonderful. We spent most of our time at the outside table which has great views and is under roof. We had an umbrella on the upper deck. The great thing is - there is a lot of furniture stored through a door that’s in the wall of the upstairs partition. Our deck steward was just so wonderful and friendly. I’m sure if you requested an umbrella to be placed on the lower deck they would accommodate that. The refurbished interior was great and so was our butler, room steward, concierge and deck steward. I did as suggested and gave our butler a letter explaining our story and letting him (or her) know that they would be helping create these memories for us after the death of my husband. He said the letter touched his heart. We had him come in early 6:30 - before we were up - to bring coffee, etc for the early risers. It was always on the dining room table and we never heard him come or go. Let me know if I can help with anything else. I have lots of pictures but not sure what you might want to see.
  2. We sailed on the Pearl on June 24th. I hadn’t received our luggage tags and called the land concierge. She checked in it and they then arrived within the week. I was ver surprised when all 8 of us had our names printed in the tags. We were in the 3 bed GV so don’t know if that mattered.
  3. All 8 of us have received Approval for June 24 sailing.
  4. Thank you so much your information has calmed most of my anxiety. This is our first visit to Boston. When we get back from the cruise we are driving up to Rockport for Friday and Saturday night before flying back on Saturday. So much history to explore and so little time.
  5. I also read that Boston invested in some sort of new ramp that stopped working and getting on and off the ship was pretty bad. Hopefully it’s up and running.
  6. Thanks for the help. I recently developed sciatic problems in both hips and the land concierge told me to ask a porter for a wheelchair- in case there is a long wait to get through security. NCL Access Desk emailed me informing me that I can’t get a wheelchair assist until AFTER security. We have never been to Boston so we have no clue as to the layout at the terminal.
  7. I have some mobility issues and I’m hoping some recent cruisers out of Boston can advise on how long they were in line to get through security. I have read being in the Haven doesn’t matter until after security. Appreciate any recent information.
  8. If you go to your reservation- top upper right - that’s where ours said eDocs ready to print.
  9. I applied for our TA one month before our sale date. Today 2 out of the 8 of us received our approval. Yay only 6 to go.
  10. Thanks. I applied a month ahead of time and received a number. It stated I would be getting an email with final approval. I just thought 2 days was cutting it a bit close being we will be flying to Boston on Tuesday, and taking proctored Covid tests Wednesday morning - not having received approval yet.
  11. I emailed Bermuda Tourism Authority again and finally got a response. We are departing Boston on June 24 on NCL Pearl. The email I received from Bermuda today said we should have our approval 2 days before we leave. I sent an email back saying since 8 of us are flying from Chicago to Boston on June 21 it would be helpful to know before we fly out if we are approved. Anyone else leaving then have an approval yet?
  12. June 24th cruise on NCL Pearl to Bermuda. I waited to send in my application until the day after they said you no longer had to upload your negative Covid information - just bring the TA and the negative test results to the port. Has anyone recently applied? Was wondering how long it took to get your approval.
  13. Let me know if you have found a review that fits “Buffett” lady. It would be interesting to see how aweful the Pearl is in her experience.
  14. Daisy you are also the great writer who answered my questions about GV on another thread. Thank you again!
  15. It’s great to read reviews from people that have realistic expectations and can note minor things that don’t affect their overall cruise. I was just joking to my son that I’d love to read the review from the “Buffett” lady. I’m sure she had a totally different experience! So happy not to be her traveling partner. Some things may not be perfect and one might have a bad experience now and then but I truly believe how you treat others, including hard working staff, is returned to you. I guess there are just some people who can’t be pleased. DaisyGoldberg you are a great writer and my family all agreed.
  16. I think we will ask for coffee early in the morning - before we go to breakfast. I’m just not sure if I should just tell the butler to just bring it in at around 7 am and leave it on the bar area. I am also a decaf coffee drinker later after dinner and guess that could be another ask. My daughter and I smoke and I read that’s allowed in the GV.
  17. Thank you again. Daisy which (if you did this) online Covid test did you do? There are eight of us and we are flying to Boston on Tuesday and will test on Wednesday morning. I guess, since we have 3 different rooms in the hotel I’m going to tell each group to order their tests so we don’t have a group of 8 waiting to test one at a time in 1 room.
  18. Thank you so much for such a helpful and descriptive narrative. My family and I are in the GV on the Pearl out of Boston on June 24. Not to excited about the noise level you described but I’ll let the group know. Also had no idea that you weren’t informed about var service after the cruise so I think it’s something I’ll mention to the land concierge before we leave. Great job OP!
  19. Thank you all for the information. My daughter told me I had to wait to upload my vaccination card after I got the - hopefully - negative Covid test results. I had read others posting that they uploaded the vaccine cards when they applied for the TA to Bermuda.
  20. Looking for information on how early to order my Inspire online test kits to be able to reserve early test times 2 days before embarkation. We are sailing out of Boston on June 24th and will test on Wednesday. Also to those who have done the TA for Bermuda there are conflicting views. When uploading the TA form early - I think you can do it 30 days in advance - do you upload it with your vaccine cards or wait until 2 days before so you can upload Covid results and vaccine cards at the same time. Thanks in advance to Bermuda travelers who have already gone through this process.
  21. The question about taxes while still in US waters was not a concern. I was just inquiring so no one is surprised when it happens - and making the assumption that being in the 3 bed garden villa indicates I have money to burn is very presumptuous. I have had six years since my husband passed to save for this trip and we are doing it because he had taken videos of this layout on the Jade and we thought it would be awesome to take our family. Just fulfilling one of his wishes. I’m a retired high school art teacher (22 yrs) who gets non of her husband Social Security due to being a teacher in IL. Sorry but that touched a nerve. Thank you Styles27 for all of the helpful information!
  22. Thank you. Do you know about before you sail out of Boston? We will be in 3 bed garden villa and wondered if the adults kids ordered drinks with lunch if tax is added. I guess I’m assuming (not the best idea) that you can order drinks with meals and they are covered with the drink package.
  23. After reading a different thread about taxes on drinks before you get into International waters - do you know if taxes are added while in port in Bermuda. I just got off the phone with NCL land concierge and she told me no.
  24. Just saw this thread. Learned a lot. Going on the Pearl in the 3 bedroom Garden Villa out of Boston - to Bermuda- June 24. These discussions now having me ask the question - while in Bermuda for 3 days - will all the drinks now have a tax added? There are 7 adults in our family and one child. That could add up. Kind of misleading to me to say free drinks. NCL should at least explain all of this to their guests before hand.
