A relaxing evening onboard yesterday, another great dinner in Aji Wa where I saw and felt us go into a little rougher weather as the meal went on (from 1.4m to 2m waves)

I cancelled Noir as I wasn’t particularly in the mood to sit down and watch something for an hour, so I relaxed at the bar and also enjoyed some blackjack.

I’ve actually been looking for drinks outside of the drinks package as well, as unfortunately all of my drinks from the kindness of the casino have been “free” anyway!

To counter this I’ve been recommended either Johnnie Walker blue label or champagne cocktails, the latter I chose last night.

    The meal looks great!

These are the last ones I purchased Link.... Top tip when printing, print at 130% scaling and they fit perfectly after trimming off the excess and folding

Brilliant, thank you. Ordered and will be here tomorrow!

Yes you do, the colour coding aids in getting your luggage to your room efficiently, get yourself some of the clear plastic sleeves designed for cruises available on Amazon for a few bob, it makes things much easier than stapling.

These sound like a good idea. I just looked on Amazon but could not find them. Any chance you could provide a link or pic?

  4. What a great post and interesting to read everyone's opinions. I can't say I have an overwhelming favourite. I marginally prefer QV over QA as I like the decor and also loved the room we stayed in. I have mixed feelings about QM2, being such a big ship, but there's lots I like about her - and we had the best food experience on QM2. We have our first TA on QM2 shortly and I'm assuming that for a TA QM2 has to be the best bet. We haven't been on QA yet.

  5. I asked the question 10 years ago when I did cruise with Oceania! I received notification that the post had been resurrected so commented on that fact, and then added that fresh milk was available, and then thought I’d better clarify that I didn’t have current experience with Oceania.

  6. Don’t need to ask. To me, the difference between uht and fresh milk is as great as that between Apple and orange juice. I should say though that my experience over the last several years has not been with Oceania as we cruise on different lines now.

  7. How funny that this thread has been resurrected! I remember asking the question 10 years ago before one of our very first cruises.  Fast forward and I’m happy to say that we can always find fresh milk onboard these days.

  8. I remember a cello performance from many years ago which I thought was simply beautiful, but I thought he had some sort of physical problem which prevented him from playing anymore, so it's good to hear that he is still able to perform.

  9. I have been reading this thread with interest, as we are embarking on our first TA next month and I'm not at all sure whether we will love it or hate it. Being onboard for so many consecutive days is a little scary, but we are hopeful that we will enjoy the ship and that the lectures will be entertaining and interesting. There's only one way to find out!

An update from me, we booked a Britannia balcony (BF) on a Saver fare 40 days before sailing. We had a free upgrade to BE when the cabin was allocated and today, 11 days before sailing we had our Upgrade bid to Britannia Club accepted.

Club has been showing Sold Out since we booked.

That’s great news for you! Did you get an email from Cunard to let you know?

  11. Hope things improve for you, this is so disappointing to hear. Glad to hear the suite is gorgeous though as we will be in the same one on our next cruise! We had some F&B problems on our recent Splendor cruise also and are hoping it isn't indicative of a general decline.

And, honestly, if you are in the Q1/Q2 market, wouldn’t you have booked the one you wanted in the first place?

No, because there was/is no availability!

  13. We're happy with a window seat on QM2 - other than feeling a little guilty when we see runners speed past the window while we are indulging! Agree with Techteach above about the window providing a useful spot for a handbag!

Have a look at posts 220 and 221. Cunard doesn't put all inventory up for sale, in order to manipulate pricing. It's similar to airlines offering upgrades on services which are seemingly overbooked - monetizing your late inventory and no-shows (etc) is big business.

Interesting, I had missed those 2 posts so thanks for pointing them out. Still odd though given that there are only 2x Q1s.

  15. We've just received an offer to upgrade from a Q2 to a Q1. However, when I checked Cunard's website, the Q1s are showing sold out. This seems strange to me - anyone else have experience of this and, if so, did you make an offer which was accepted? We booked through a travel agent by the way, not direct.

Without pacing our cabin out to get an exact size, I would say the Q2s are smaller than the Vistas equivalents but as well as having up to the minute bathroom fittings (Grohe)in both  the bathroom and shower room  and Dyson hairdryer plus copious number of usb ports, they are vastly superior in layout. In fact, I think Cunard has made excellent use of space in their 2s.

I will be able to give you Q1 comparisons next year. 🙂

Thank you, sounds good. It sounds as though you have warmed to Annie. Perhaps she will become your new favourite!

  17. We cruise with both Crystal and Regent and have been on both lines a few times since the re-start of Crystal. I agree with most of the comments above. Personally, I would set Umi Uma above Pacific Rim, but enjoy both. I think service is better on Crystal than Regent. I think the suites are better on Regent than Crystal (have only been on Explorer & Splendor, not Grandeur or any of Regent's older ships). I agree that there is perhaps more evening entertainment on Regent, but more activities during the day on Crystal. We found the quality of excursions to be pretty similar in both cases - and neither great! Completely agree with PaulMCO above - if you like Crystal, it's likely you'll enjoy Regent. Both are great lines.
