  1. Madness .. a very poor design! You would think Virgin could do much better! They seem to have given a lot of thought in to other aspects of the cabin. That floor space could much better be used in the bathroom! We have a motor home with more bathroom space. Quote my husband .. you can sit on the loo, clean your teeth and wash your feet in the shower all at the same time! 😂😂. The latest Brittany ferry that goes over to Spain had more bathroom space. In fact Virgin ships have more in common with a ferry than traditional cruise ships. We weren’t a fan and won’t be cruising with them again.
  2. Sadly the bedside box remains. Just the most awkward piece of furniture anyone could place in a bedroom. What a waste of space .. does anyone ever change the bed to sofa seating during the day!
  3. I thought it was used to turn the double bed into L shaped sofa seating for day use. Which I have yet to hear someone actually did. To use the double as two singles surely they could just be separated as other hotels and cruise lines do. A bedside table could go between or at the side of the double. How I didn’t break my ankle at night heaven knows. Can’t imagine what they were thinking! Are they still keeping the same design for the latest ship?
  4. The really stupid low box next to the bed.!!!! By now they must realise passengers don’t want the function to change bed to seating .. why not remove it and make space for a second chair or sofa. Would also remove the big piece of soft furniture from the other side of the bed.
  5. Just returned from Resilient lady 3 night sailing. The cocktail party was our last night held in the Athletic bar. It’s on a top deck .. we had good weather .. from 5pm. Not overly impressed. Choice of two drinks .. cheap fizz or weak sangria. Plenty of both on offer. We stayed about half an hour. No comfortable seats .. same goes for rest of ship. we had the blue perks status match. Didn’t rate the speciality coffee. Didn’t use the laundry ion 3 night sailing. First and last Virgin cruise! Think upmarket ferry and you won’t be far off the mark.
  6. Tomorrow we will do a test and report back exactly what wines are available on the wine list to purchase by the glass. How many on plus and how many extra on premier. No doubt it will throw the waiter into confusion as no one asks for the wine list anymore! The cheapest bottle we saw last time they found a wine menu was £47.50 plus 18% service charge for a Chardonnay. It was an awful bottle of wine. You would be stuck with this by the glass on the plus package. Which is our main reason for not purchasing as we are more wine drinkers than cocktails. It will be interesting to find which wine they serve as a Chardonnay on the premier. 🤔. We have had the mini bar set up again (elite perk) which provides more than enough spirits and mixers to suit our taste. That plus the 50% off wifi package certainly makes a package poor value. For our 20 nights it would have cost an additional £2000 .. that’s a good deposit on the next cruise!
  7. We didn’t take the package as we prefer wine by the bottle. However sailing at the present and the first wine we ordered we paid over $50 for a bottle of Chardonnay (supposedly the one they serve by the glass) it was very disappointing.. tasted more like a very light Sauvignon Blanc. I guess they could serve it as either! Hardly anybody in the dining room has a bottle of wine .. the package has virtually killed the wine menu .. just too expensive by the bottle now. Those drinking wine included in the package have no choice but to drink the generic wines by the glass. Not sure what you are offered if you go for premier. We are now buying our wine in port and taking it to the table by the glass something we could never have foreseen doing in the past. If you enjoy a nice wine .. the drinks package will disappoint. If you are a cocktail drinker you may do better. The complimentary sailaway bubbles were just awful and served by the half glass! Not sure if this is what is served as ‘Prosecco’. we are not wine connoisseurs! Just know a decent quality wine. A supermarket brand would put this wine onboard to shame!
