Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We had the same situation leaving Bueno Aires. We booked an excursion through the ship which included transfers and they took care of the luggage situation. This was a Norwegian cruise.
  2. The only time I've seen ship excursion passengers given priority is when tenders are being used. Juneau isn't a tender port. Have you checked with your excursion company to be sure a wheelchair is "allowed" on their boat? I ask because there are some excursions that can't accommodate a wheelchair.
  3. Southwest doesn't require 24 hour prior check-in, but you will be seated among the last passengers unless you do. If you are a higher tier member SWA will do automatic check-in. They also offer Early Bird check-in (automatic check-in) for a fee. If OP is on SWA, it might be worth it to pay the $15 -$25 to buy it. We were told by a SWA agent at the airport, that only one of us need buy Early Bird and that person can save a seat for the second passenger.
  4. When I log into my account and get to this page, I click on See Details and it requires that I log in again, which I've done. We go round and round!. I've never been able to get the the details. I haven't had time to sit on hold with Holland's IT department, so your information was very helpful.
  5. Thank you for this! I was going crazy trying to find this information on the HAL website.
  6. I've used Wash Eeze laundry sheets from Amazon. They are used for both washing and drying and you can pack a few sheets (1 per load) rather than the whole box. I've found them to be very good. https://www.amazon.com/WashEZE-Laundry-Detergent-Individual-Efficient/dp/B00C2WAX5G/ref=sr_1_6?crid=2PZZL1DVLCK89&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.h2lXH8vq4Q_838tYHHFXF8PcXSljDmXLGtCaHNGD8ru-GZmDp4OhrvOR_MdJykKRDXmG7I13XqPGnLAsuI5TgOSQi05v5EvouI7Uxp5iexark_tNDjyD8Q_ZYjgBhZtC.QPG1X2P-mtOt7c9sc6DNsSBqHPmzogs2lXfQp7ORTe4&dib_tag=se&keywords=wash+eeze&qid=1710951036&sprefix=wash+eeze%2Caps%2C209&sr=8-6 sorry for the giant link.
  7. NCL left a notice on our bed the evening before. They picked up laundry that following morning and we had it back that same evening. It was after week one of a two week cruise.
  8. We used the NCL bag full for $29 and were able to fit two pair of jeans plus t-shirts, socks and underwear without tearing the bag and with room to spare. This was in February/March 2023. NCL is very casual at dinner, no sports coat needed. A nice button shirt or polo shirt is enough. The suggestions you're getting about are great!
  9. Wear a hat and sunscreen, the Caribbean sun is more intense than farther north. Wet and wear a bandanna around your neck. Loose (flowy) skirts are supposedly cooler than pants and will protect your legs from the sun better than shorts. As Essiesmom stated, stay hydrated and stay in the shade as much as possible.
  10. No, but I've never come home with a respiratory infection. There's only been one cruise where I've come home sick. That was with an ear infection and I blame it on snorkeling.
  11. I've had the same tax charge sailing out of New Orleans. I wasn't surprised by it however, because I read fine print. 🙂
  12. It's all in the stated information on the "free" drinks offer. I'm surprised (not surprised) people don't read the fine print. You can get so much information doing that.
  13. I really like Emma Cruises for all the reasons you stated. She also has a very pleasant, cheerful voice.
  14. I think the cruise line's response would be a laugh and a hang-up. I don't think they would haggle, but I've never even thought about doing so. It would be interesting to see if anyone has had that experience and what became of it. As a side note, I worked the financial area at a dentist's office. There were people who (I assume) had read articles on how to save money, where they are advised to haggle the cost of service. I assume that as I had read those articles myself at the time this was happening. It irritated me to no end when patients did that. But maybe that's just me.
