  1. We sail end of May so many kids are still in school( mine skip the last day😱) so not many kids, compared to end of June or July. Add that with cooler weather = less by pool, however there always seemed to be people/ kids in hot tubs, but it wasn't packed like sardines. And to be honest that slide on the Jewel was kinda lame, sorta slow.

  2. I'm in your age age range but married. We sailed the jewel last year, fell in love and will be sailing the Pearl next week. We found people to be friendly, for the most part( we actually blocked an elevator to help an elderly women get on that was on a scooter, my daughters may be petite but they play basketball like they are 7 ft) we shared tables at the buffet a few times when people asked( I guess we look friendly....or nearly finished, lol) casino was busy with people always striking up converstation. We also had fun in the bars( more mixed ages). I love the size of the ship it doesn't feel crowded.

  3. 8 and 10 are great ages to play board games. We bring dominoes, dice and cards. I wouldn't count on the ship having full sets. Uno, skip Bo and travel Yahtzee. Your kids playing in an open area would prob attract others boys the same age to join them. Fingers crossed for y'all for plenty of room in splash academy!!

  4. I'm a bit confused about booking concierge. We book the Haven and have a Concierge and I think all suites , regardless of Haven or not, get it. We mainly used him to get off the ship quickly at ports. We had asked for certain reservations but he was unable to do it. But I think different ships at different sailings have different experiences. Maybe be a bit more specific to which ship and time of year and you will have more help.

  5. We sailed last year on NCl and are doing so this year. Our girls were 16,12 last year. We had a blast! This is what we did

Juneau- whale watch with Harv and marv(private tour) - this year we see mendenhall glacier and shop in town

Skagway- shopped and helicopter/glacier walk with temsco, this year we will do wilderness explorer

Ketchikan- private fishing with barnoff and the same this year( we like to fish).

Victoria- we just walked downtown, everyone wished we would have had tea at the empress, but I have girls that sometimes remember they are young ladies, lol.

I ruled out the train ride because I knew my kids, er,uhm, all of us would not be that thrilled with being closed up and packed in with that many people.

We saw lots of eagles fishing

And at the dock in Ketchikan.

  6. We had no problem with cell service off the ship. Our phones stay off while on the ship. The way we figured it, if someone needed to contact us it could wait until the next day when we got to land. There would be nothing we could do for anyone out at sea.
