  1. He wears his ostrich cowboy boots on the plane. Then wears those with his slacks. We are from Texas so Lucchese ostrich boots are acceptable shoes for dressing up, for men. I didn't know about tux rental!! He is not opposed to dressing up and would wear a borrowed or rented coat jacket if they had it.

  2. The two ships we are looking at are the crown and golden princess. We have no problem waiting for a table to open up. What are the options to eat in if he doesn't wear a suit. He wears Dockers and long sleeve button down shirts to dinner. I don't think we will have packing space for his jacket. We are only taking 1 carry on each and alaska is already tough to pack for.

  3. We have only cruised once, on NCL so I don't understand how dining works on princess. Please bear with me as I start asking questions. We don't want to have set dining times nor table mates. I hope that doesn't sound snotty, we have 2 teens and enjoy each other's company. So it seems anytime would be a great solution, but are there certain restaurants that are excluded for this? Also what restaurants have formal wear meaning tuxs. I am looking at an Alaska cruise if this helps.

  4. So, is this an unreasonable request - I want to somehow contact my butler pre-cruise and give them the names of my daughters - ages 9, 7 and 6. I simply want the butler to "act" like a butler use their names upon arrival, etc. I am even willing to tip for this "performance."

I am reasonably sure that this will be my kids only ever life experience with a butler and I want it to be fun...and a bit playful.

Has anyone made a request like this?

You can ask this but seriously I think all it will get you is a good laugh at the corporate office. If you look here people email for refrig being cleaned out and it's hit or miss, so you wanting your young children to be address a certain way and expecting it is setting you up for disappointment. However the butler will truely make your make kids feel special with treats and kindness. It was a royal treat for my teens, without being address by a certain way. Of course your butler might very well address them in that manner. Please I mean no rudeness when I say this, just didn't want you to be disappointed.

  5. We were on the ncl jewel first of June. We found it great. Our food was never cold nor tasteless. Being from Texas we like spicey, and missed fresh salsa. The buffet tables were full but there is always many other places to eat, you are not forced to only eat there. There was tons to do on the ship while at sea, however we mostly chose a window seat somewhere and watched the scenery and for whales.

  6. Cagney we got steak. 1st time one of the best steaks we have ever eaten, and we a lot is steak. 2nd time mine was tough and gristly. My DH got bison and it was top notch, as were the lobster tails both nights. The osco bucco in the Italian place was wonderful. We also got the huge 2 person steak in le bistro. It was not very good, more like a roast texture and very chewy. I think you just never know how it will really be that night. Be adventurous and order things you have never had!

  7. We were on the jewel the first week of June the year. I have DD 12 and 16. We had a blast. Cagney and the japenese steak house would be filled every night and some nights le bistro, too. So reserve ahead of time if you can. My kids loved fishing in ketchikan and helicopter glacier hike in skagway. I think there was salmon some nights but I can't remember. We got lobster tails in cagney, on two different nights.
