North Star question Ovation of the seas Alaska

Thanks for your responses. It was helpful. I did get more info from this thread than the one on the RCI thread. 😀 Alaska cruisers are on it!!
  2. Can you ride the North Star more than once per cruise? Do you need a reservation? Are they open day and night? Which do you prefer, day or night as far as the scenery? Are they open during port days or just sea days. Thanks for your response
  3. Dumb question....... Can you ride the North Star more than once per cruise? Do you need a reservation each time? What do you prefer night time or daytime? Is that even a thing, day or night. is it open while in port or only at sea? How many people can ride at a time?
  4. Can anyone tell me what shows are on the Ovation right now and if anyone knows what and IF they will be changing when this ship goes to the Alaska Itinerary this May? Thanks
  5. We are staying in Seattle the night before our cruise in September. We are on Royal Caribbean Ovation. Does anyone know of a good shuttle service to get us from the hotel to the cruise port? Thanks in advance

Staying on the ship in Alaska Ports

Thanks for everyones thoughts on this question. I chose THIS Alaska cruise because of the location and the bigger, (which means more people) ship. I know it is more expensive and that is not an issue. We are going in September, getting off in Vancouver and going BACK to Alaska for an additional week. I know it is beautiful and I DO want to see all of what Alaska is. I have never been on an Alaskan itinerary or this big of a ship.

Staying on the ship in Alaska Ports

What are your thoughts on staying on the ship in Alaska and Canada ports? It's not warm like in the Caribbean and you can lay out on the deck. Are there things planned for those that stay on the ship?

    Ovation, luggage room and tips

So, I checked the weather. Highs in the 50s. Lows in the 30s. We’ll be staying up at night outside waiting and hoping to see northern lights. I think I’ll need a winter coat. Lol. I don’t want to wish I had one. Thanks for the input because it made me double check the weather thinking I was missing something. I am still trying to decide about the raincoat issue. Would a poncho be ok? Do I need pants also? Hubby has a rain suit. I don’t have anything yet. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Ovation, luggage room and tips

We are going on The Ovation mid September to Alaska. We are extending our vacation after the cruise and staying in Alaska and doing some things on our own. We have a balcony cabin. There are 2 of us. How many suitcase will fit under the bed or in the closet? We have the hard side luggage, checked size so larger than carryon. We will need to pack boots and winter coats, raincoats and extra layers so at least 3 suitcases and possibly 4. Will 4 suitcase fit in our cabin? This is our first cold weather cruise. Does anyone have tips I may not have thought about for a cold cruise? Do I need a heavy jacket or light jacket for walking around on the outer decks and people watching?

Can you see Glaciers from the ship?

Thanks everyone. We leave Sept 13 (I think) LOL. I am on information overload and trying to not to give hubby too much info. I am a planner and he hates it!! I'll be the one with the thick binder walking the ship. I have seen others planning more than one excursion at a port. Is this really doable? I am an extreme planner down to the minute but always like to leave room for changes, breakdowns, issues etc.

Can you see Glaciers from the ship?

This is hubby and my first Alaska cruise. Leaving Seattle and going to Juneau, Skagway, Endicott arm & Dawes Glacier, Victoria then disembarking in Vancouver We are going on Ovation in September. Been to the Caribbean several times. Loved it. Decided to go cold this time? We are booked in a port side balcony cabin. Can you see glaciers from the ship? Might be a dumb question?

Cabin door placement on inside hallway

Thanks so much, that helps me decide where to add others in our party. :)

Cabin door placement on inside hallway

I thought that would help!!! I've seen deck plans in a book and online and the arrow for adjoining rooms is on both sides. Back to square one. Example: We have cabins 8116 and 8118 right next to each other. Across the hall, 8411 is available, does that cabin door face 8118 or is it on the other hallway? 8101 is at the end of the hall. Is that door facing 8116 or 8516?

Cabin door placement on inside hallway

DUH!!! Sorry Oasis of the Seas I see the legend that shows which cabins are adjoining. Does that mean which side the door is on also?
