I just got off the Majesty this morning, and the hotel director had some comments at the C&A reception.
First, Majesty is getting a multi-million dollar refurbishment. Clearly, she needs it. Except for the MDR on Deck 3, she looked tired and worn. She had shown her age since my last cruise in March of 2010.
Now, the fact that the refurbishment has been scaled back could very well mean that RC had already decided that the Majesty was only going to stay with RC for a short amount of time, before going back into dry dock in Freeport for the work needed to prep her for joining one of RC's European lines.
The reason that she is staying with RC is that the economy in Europe is still struggling, and RC decided that it didn't need another ship catering to the European market.
Second, the hotel director joked that he had no idea why Empress was being brought back to the RC fleet, except for the fact that she fits very nicely in Havana harbor. The assumption there is the Cuban government hasn't done the work necessary to accept any of the large ships like RC's Oasis, Quantum, and Freedom-class ships, the NCL Breakaway class, or the Carnaval Dream and Conquest classes.
And, it could be that RC thinks that the attraction of Cuba doesn't need a ship with the bells and whistles that one finds on the newer ships.w
Practical.

Will someone at Royal Caribbean please make up their mind?

To all Solo's be very vigilant of your points. Just sailed in Jr Suite and only got 8 points for the 4x day instead of 12. Sent email off to have them add the missing 4pts.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
I made sure to email them a week after I got back when I saw only half the points I was due.

Well........Based on other comments in this thread, my response isn't that out of line. I'm going to guess you haven't tasted the HS cafeteria food that I remember. Chicken patties and stale fries come to mind.
We called them murder burgers and suicide fries. LOLOLOLOL!!

I'm on the Anthem of the Seas now. Out of numerous meals and snacks I've had over ten days, there were two items (that's items, not entire meals) that I couldn't eat. The scrambled eggs in the buffet and one of the salad dressings in Jamie's.
Everything else has been good to excellent.
You know what I did both times I didn't like something?
Sit down, this will blow your mind.
I let them know about the problem and then I found something else to eat.
Crazy, right?
The food is terrific. And if you don't like something, get something else. Repeat as necessary and you'll be happy.
Unless you don't want to be happy. Then there's nothing I can do to change your mind. So I won't try.
Have a nice day, everyone!
Nobody can eat the scrambled eggs in the buffet.

Once, many years ago, onboard Enchantment. I was in the solarium and they had the glass ceiling open when we were in Key West.
Other than that, when we went to Cozumel, they had a feast!

"One lady just marked her territory of 12..... Yes, 12 chairs and hasn't been back for over an hour."
Her posterior cannot fit in more than one chair. Grab an attendant and show them.
Ugh!!! People are unbelievable!

I've read about some sort of rule that prevents them from having the poolside BBQ when they leave Nassau. Did they have any other kind or organized pool deck party when the leaving Nassau?
That must be a new one.
They fired that baby up back in November.

I am eyeing Indy for my next cruise, which will be my older brother's first. Looking forward to your review.

I used Cortrans and was extremely pleased with the service!!!
I self-disembarked, and they were maybe 100 feet away from the exit. I gave them my name, hopped in waited for a couple of other passengers, paid, and we were on our way! It was the least complicated trip from port to airport I've ever had!
-
They still haven't fixed the morning coffee problem!! I was on Enchantment from November 2-6, and could not find coffee before 7 a.m.!
-
Glad you had fun Jennifer. I know you weren't sure what to expect on out roll call forum. It is a very nice ship, just a but too short time on board!!
This was my second time onboard Enchantment, but so much has changed in 18 years. I felt a bit like a newbie.
-
My first text to my sister when we got to the Bahamas was to complain about the lack of coffee before 7 a.m. (Anyone that knows me knows it is dangerous to deprive me of my coffee in the morning.)
It was my only serious "complaint" about Enchantment.

I set up a cash account for my last cruise. The only trouble I had with it was keeping track of my balance. I had to stand in line at guest services to verify my balance. Thankfully, the reps at the desk moved very quickly.
I would do it again.
-
Was on this cruise with you and agree with everything!
It was amazing! I did dance on deck at midnight and was part of that crowd ( on the other side).
I think my favorite activity was the movies under the stars.
I would take this cruise again in an instant!

Now I'm reading reports of an altercation with security and that the man fell off the ship.

I just got off Enchantment Friday and don't see how they could be pushing liquor. There weren't enough bartenders/servers to do that.
I did see one guy that came muster drunk, but that's on him.
-
Thanks. Quite kid friendly on Enchantment then
They also had films for the adults like the lastest Mission Impossible and Jurassic World. There was an indoor film, Mr. Holmes, that played in the Orpheum. And, a late night film, Vacation ®.
It covered a wide range of age groups.

wow, my question was just that, a question and it was about social media and how the younger croud feels about cruise ships. The last 3 overboard tragedys were aboard rccl. What is a troll?
I read a report that called the person that went overboard on Oasis a jumper. I don't know about the others. No mention of alcohol playing a role in this one.
And a "troll" is someone who posts a statement with the deliberate intent of inciting an emotional response (usually a negative one) from other readers. On these boards, it usually comes from fans of other cruise lines or people who are upset with RCCL (for one reason or another).
You don't have a lot of posts here, but the majority of the ones you have are on the RCCL board. That, to me, is evidence that your intent wasn't to troll, but to post a legitimate question.
-
Trolling troll is trolling.
Oddly, I don't think the OP is trolling in favor of another cruise line. If you look at their previous posts, they have been on RCCL at least twice. I can't tell if the third time was with RCCL because Carnival also has a ship called Liberty.
-
Keep seeing reports of people drinking way to much, falling overboard, violence with a younger cruise group and wonder if social media has Royal as the cruise line of choice for party down. I do know rccl pushes the booze hard when aboard.
Are you referring to an old YouTube video that claimed this? It's completely untrue!
RCCL has always had a relaxed atmosphere. Its reputation is not based on the on-board parties, which are very tame, but for the activities and entertainment. That, and its newer ships (which are considered to be destinations in themselves).

What time do they usually have these? Are the movies kid friendly?
On EOS, they started at around 5 p.m. and they showed Inside Out and Pixels.

I just got off Enchantment yesterday.
I decided to forego the MDR in favor of Chops and the WJ. I did go to the MDR for lunch on the sea day and was quite pleased with the Tutti salad and the chicken sliders (I almost asked for a second helping of those).
Skipping the MDR in favor of the WJ for dinner gave me a different cruise experience than the ones in the past, which is what I was looking for. I felt like I had more freedom to make the shows and the movies. And the waitstaff in the WJ gets high marks from me for offering personalized (albeit limited) service.
That being said, I was rather disappointed in the lunch selection in the WJ. It seemed like the best option, which really surprised me, was the cheeseburger and fries. The service was still exceptional.

It covered all of my Starbucks coffee on EOS.
