  1. Other friends, however, have a dream cruise in September. Simply because they cruise 4-5x annually, they are not cancelling their cruise because RCCL will offer possibly 160% on future cruise if the cruise lines cancel. This sure has messed up my favorite way to travel. Thank you.
  2. Thank you. These folks have taken many land trips that only some of us could dream of. This situation for first time cruisers who were a little iffy about liking a cruise I think your advise is sport on. Thank you.
  3. Friends booked their FIRST cruise and on HAL because we think the health scores are good and because we love BB King. Their cruise is to Alaska in AUG 2020. Final payment isn't until May and I had read suggestions to delay cancelling until perhaps month before final payment in order to receive down payment. They respect our opinion as we are seasoned cruisers. What are your thoughts. I told her I would ask the forum.
  4. Our friends booked their first cruise and it is to Alaska in August. We have cruised many times and they respect our opinion. At the beginning of COVID cruise reports I suggested to delay cancellation until closer to cruise and she should receive 100% of refund. However, final payment is middle of May. Would you suggest she go ahead or still wait a few weeks for HAL to contact her? Airline tickets have been purchased. Thank you.
  5. Our 3 HAL cruises had awesome food and service at the LIDO. We didn't handle the utensils and felt that was much healthier. Enjoyed the stir fry choices and the wonderful salad bars. We never ate in the MDR on our last HAL cruise. Likewise we never fought our way around for a simple cup of coffee..HAL served us at our table. The MDR once entertained us, but 1 1/2-2 hr event is too long for us.
  6. Thank you for your reply. Those types of things don't bother me. We sailed her out of Charleston and it was ok. Health issues were my concern, but bets suffering in this cold weather.
  7. We seldom cruise Carnival except when we just need to escape cold weather on a budget and able to drive to port. We sailed on Fantasy Our of Charleston a few years ago and are considering Mobile. I just finished reading an October 2019 failed inspection health report. While it seemed critical enough to earn a 'failed' score, I am curious if you folks who cruise the Fantasy out of Mobile have experienc d displeasure with her cleanliness?
  8. Try and get a wine glass. 😡
  9. What type of attire is suggested for brunch or breakfast in MDR? We tried breakfast in MDR 1x, not enthused. However, I would love to try the brunch . Thank you.
  10. We have never cruised out of NOLA and our best flight option for return home is 11 am. Having cruised out of FLL 15 times we have never had a flight before noon. Do you think an 11 am flight is wise? I realize a lot can happen on a ship's return to port for disembarkation. Customs, illness, and other situations can come into play. Thank you.
  11. We have cruised 17 times, never MSC. We just need a winter getaway and thought MSC might be interesting. However, there are so many negative reviews on many sites that I am beginning to doubt . We aren't expecting anything other than good service, nice staff and descent food. Comments, please?
  12. The staff throughout the ship was wonderful! Guest services were the best. However, I was so disappointed in our stateroom. Perfect location, though. However, 2 seniors with 2 bunks, one on each side of the bed, was a bother. We have our beds placed together and I was against the wall and it was a chore to get out of bed. No refrigerator/coolers, no chair other than dressing table ottoman. Our stateroom attendant was superb. Those rooms, though. Never again.
  13. DH is considering a cruise from Barcelona. However, we aren't bilingual and unless he finds a group from US traveling together he doesn't feel confident that us seniors could handle the language barrier. Any suggestions? I tried to explain that most hotels have bilingual employees, but he is concerned about the other facets: restaurant, transportation from the airport and to the ship. Thank you.
  14. Thank you! That is how I buy mine and do comparison. unfortunately I have called 3 reputable companies and none offer anything other than reimbursements, even though their website stated otherwise. Another problem is that I had to ask for an English speaking rep and there were none. Bust.
