  1. @schmoopie17 I have to commend you for going out of your comfort zone and trying something that I would consider a fate worse than death. I could not eat a snail for all the money in the world. @Sugar Magnolia we can no longer be friends. And yes, I know that makes you happy.
  2. She would be better off trying to work with the school to do her exam early than to expect a cruise line to make this type of exception.
  3. That was my thought too. I watch the one when I do the check in and the emails all get deleted unopened. On my last cruise I think it was day 3 when I turned the TV on for the first time and I don't remember if the video came on or not. Don't sweat the small stuff...it's a vacation!
  4. Not sure why your chat box is disappearing. Are you on the app (where I don't think I have ever seen the chat option) or the website? It's 11:07 eastern time right now and the chat box is in the bottom left side corner like it always is on the website.
  5. And here is another thing about the Verizon Travel Pass...if you don't use it for a month, you get to bank that month for when you do need it. I did not cruise internationally for 9 months, so when I went to Dubai for 10 days, I had 9 days 'saved' that I could use while there. Between those 9 free days and using my 24 hours in the manner that was suggested by @UKstages, I paid nothing the whole time I was there. Service was excellent, also. I don't even think about NOT using my phone when traveling internationally anymore. I don't send large videos or even a lot of photos via text so never had to pay for additional data.
  6. That is your assigned cabin. I have never had one change without doing it myself (either via winning a bid or paying an upgrade difference). Enjoy your cruise!
  7. I almost always book a guarantee cabin and get the upgrade advantage email shortly after. I wait until I see what cabin I am assigned before deciding whether to bid or not. For my upcoming cruise I was pretty happy with the location of my inside cabin so am not bidding to upgrade.
  8. If you ask for it to go, they will bring it to you with a cover and utensils.

  10. @sugarmagnoliaand myself...when you aren't around! 🤣😉
  11. My recent experience on the Joy in June was similar but not as strict as yours. My travel companion used his FAS to order 4 items and I ordered one app and paid out of pocket...we were told we could not share all 4 items but as long as I ordered something, that was fine. It was our first night on the ship and I had a FAS credit available, which I was not required to use. So as you can see, it is going to vary from ship to ship and possibly even day to day on the same ship.
  12. I don't even own a pair of closed toe shoes and have eaten at Le Bistro multiple times.
  13. Yes, you can use it for upgrading (or buying) drinks, bingo and Deal or No Deal. Just not in the casino.
  14. I have always prebooked as they can get full (especially with luggage). Have used SAS in the past. Check the Florida Departures board for more information.
  15. This is the 2nd or 3rd time this has been asked in the past week or so and sending the email is probably the best suggestion, since no one here can grant that permission. The biggest issue is going to be immigration/customs in NY. If there is another ship in port that day with guests disembarking, then there should be agents there that can accomodate you. If not, it could be a bit more difficult. I am sure you aren't the only person who wants to do this but you might not get an answer until on board. Not sure which ship or how soon the cruise is but I would try to be patient unless it is in the next week or so. PS - I have done this before in Europe and had to make several phone calls/emails before getting an answer in writing. I then took that response to guest services once onboard so that everyone was aware of what I was doing. Did not have an issue. Good luck!
  16. If you prepaid gratuities on your original booking, then they should have transferred over on your upgrade. Check your confirmation on the upgrade and give NCL a call to confirm.
  17. @schmoopie17 I have been wondering how your adventure was going and so glad you checked in! You are not making me feel very confident about my trip to Rome in November...hopefully Delta will do a better job of getting me there than American did for you. Sorry to hear that Mrs. Schmoopie isn't feeling well. That is always the worst on vacation. Hopefully it will be smoothing sailing from here on out. Enjoy the rest of your cruise and we will all regroup when you return.
  18. That would be very unusual...I have sailed out of Miami multiple time on embarkation day and always paid taxes on drinks. Granted, it's less than a dollar per drink so not really noticable in the grand scheme of things. And I believe the tax is only charged on Embarkation ports, not US ports in general. So there wouldn't be a tax in Alaska or Maine as the cruise does not start from those ports. I have been charged tax in Miami, NYC, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Port Canaveral and Seattle.
  19. Prima does have the Surfside Cafe and Grill, which is the buffet. They also have the Indulge Food Hall, 2 MDRs and the Local, all complimentary. You must not have left the Haven area on your Prima cruise. 😉
  20. I took my first solo cruise 8 years ago on NCL and have always met at least one person that I could hang around with on the ship, meet for meals, do trivia, etc. Some of these have become close friends that I have sailed with multiple times (you know who you are, LOL) and have even traveled with on non-cruise vacations. What's nice about the solo meet ups is you can meet as many or as few people as you like. The co-ordinator will typically arrange dinner every night and you can go with the group, or not. People will rotate in and out every night. Every cruise is different and I think the larger ships with the solo cabins have a greater chance of having a bigger group of solos but you never know. The advice about joining your roll call is a solid one. I have been chatting with someone on the roll call for my next cruise and we are taking the same shuttle from Rome to the port so we will meet even before getting on the ship. So relax and enjoy. That first step is always the hardest but you will meet some great people...couples, solos and in between!
  21. Did you call to see if you can move to a different cabin that only holds 2? They might be happy to do it so they can sell a cabin for 4. When is your cruise? As for your question, I have wondered the same thing. I don't know why it couldn't be done and if your room steward won't do it, I would attempt it myself. Please let us know what you find out.
  22. If it took 22 minutes to get a drink, that's on them. There are so many bars on a ship and if one is busy, just move on to another one. And yes, ships do require regular maintenance and upkeep but I would imagine that could be difficult at times when they are sailing full every week. It's no secret that they do not care for the NCL brand. If it's not Disney or one of the new RCL ships, their reviews tend towards the negative. They are also not big fans of MSC either and there are a lot of people on this board who enjoy sailing them. I think you have to take all of these vloggers 'reviews' with a grain of salt because, again, they are in it for the money and not necessarily the experience.
  23. If you watich their video from last week, they mention that the YouTube algorthim is set so that the more negative a video is (and especially the clickbait titles) the higher it scores and moves to the top of the viewing que. That's why you see so many dramatic titles from many vloggers, in all catagories...to pull you in and for them to make more money. They are playing the game, and playing it well,
  24. In my experience, the day passes have only been available on Port days and have been anywhere from $59 to $89 a day, based on the ship. Availability is going to depend on how many weekly passes were sold. On a Transatlantic cruise, I was able to get a day pass once on a sea day but was told not available on the other days I enquired. Enjoy your cruise!
