  1. What is "Booked Passengers, sign in"? I only have one user name/sign in.

I sign in/Register, type password and then when I enter, it goes to the same sign-in screen.

Go to the home page.....look near the top in in the white area to the right side ...you will see "Booked Passengers". Scroll over that and you will see "Cruise Personalizer"....use the left hand form.

That works for me....twice so far today

  2. 1972....P&O Orsova....from Dakar, Senegal to Southampton (with a port stop in Vigo, Spain). Were trying to find a ship to take our small group back to England or Europe.

The ship just happened to be in port, had some empty cabins, and was willing to take us on board for a very small amount of money. Because we didn't have "cruising clothes" they provided us with a private dining room and dedicated wait staff.

    Great fun for 6 days.

As it turns out, Captain "McCharming" was a 4th officer on the ship at the time.

I still have the log of the cruise...From Dakar to Vigo it was 1710 miles and we averaged 21.27 knots!

  3. sorry - the cruise insurance. We have been on two cruise with Carnival and we never purchased the insurance before. We are planning a cruise for March on Princess and I was just wondering whether or not we need to purchase the cruise insurance.

Only you can decide the "need".....health benefits you might already have?....travel insurance provided by your credit card?....etc etc.

Each person has different needs, and not all policies are the same.

  4. how do you purchase the soda or soda/ultimate card? Onboard or before. Where do we get it?

You can purchase it on the ship, or before (via the Princess website). There will lots of people trying to sell you it when you board, and you can buy it from any bar or the IC

  5. 7088.....solid firewall and balcony divider...makes cabin quieter. Close to lifts and stairs. Also, big factor for us, the balcony railings are open for great view, and not solid metal. See side photos of the ship to see what I mean.

  6. We will be coming from Antigua. :(

With some ports it does make a difference, but perhaps not in the Caribbean?

We have done many B2Bs 10 days cruises in the area.

Aruba is interesting (arriving or leaving) because of the narrow channel that the ship must navigate.

Bonaire is interesting because you get a great view of Klein Bonaire where some of the best snorkeling is.

Antigua offers some views and is has a very shallow channel.

St Lucia offers in interesting harbour entrance and great views of the airport runway.

If you do google earth of each of these ports, in advance, you will see what I mean.

  7. We have had very bad luck with the Crown Grill....both on the Ruby and Emerald....of those 4 tries, 3 of those experiences were not good at all. Two of those times were on the same sailing and the 8 of us could not believe that we were on the same ship and eating in the same venue...the taste was so different and so bad.

One occassion, the service was beyond terrible. That server was removed from the restaurant and the next day was cleaning tables in the AT dining room.

It will be a while before we try it again.

  8. Thanks for the info. The cruise is marketed as a 9-day cruise with no reference to back to back. If it is really back to back separate cruises, do we get 2 bar set-ups and 2 first night freebies at Crown Grill? (We book suites.)

If you look at the schedule, it is also marketed as a 4 day and a 5 day cruise.....and put together as a 9 day cruise. So, yes, it is a back to back. Princess is doing a lot of that now.

People usually got both dinners and bar set-ups, but don't know what they do for these shorter cruises.

  9. We're looking at the "Grand Caribbean Sampler" Ruby cruise on Feb 15. The itinerary says Ft. Lauderdale to 2 ports and return. Then we go back out to 1 port and return. The cruise is for 9 days.

    Questions:

    1. What do the continuing passengers do while the Ruby is back at Ft. Lauderdale mid-cruise?

    2. If we must disembark, can we leave our stuff in our cabin?

    3. At the mid-cruise return to Ft. Lauderdale, what happens to breakfast? In particular, is the suite breakfast in Sabatini's still on?

    Thanks.

Back if FLL, you can take a Princess excursion or just enjoy the ship, or walk around the area. You will be given instructions on when you and others staying on board need to meet and be walked thru US authorities and do a u turn and head back aboard. YOu will be issued new cruise card.

You can leave your stuff in your cabin, assuming you have the same cabin.

For more details there are lots and lots of threads about dealing with back to back cruises in Ft Lauderdale.
