  1. Great that everything worked out, and of course DD being treated is of prime importance, but I just have to ask what was the $5 that wasn't covered?? LOL
  2. Yes, and way in advance. I have my reservations made already for next June
  3. They are not charging. It was only a question asked on a survey-would you pay a nominal fee for pizza, and if there was a charge would it cause you to cruise another line. I just can't believe they even asked the question-
  4. Also, most NCL ships have the Nestle flavored water dispensers at no cost in the buffet and pool areas
  5. Reusing a plate is a health code violation inmost buffets on dry land, so yes you should not do it.
  6. With My Time Dining you can make reservations before the cruise through their app, I have my reservations already set for next June. This may depend on the ship, but the ones I've been on have a sepaarte dining room or floor for My Time Dining.
  7. Make sure to read the details of the policy. When I looked into ones available in my state the medical/evacuation coverage was lower than single trip policies and below what I was comfortable with, so I will still go with insuring each trip for the medical.
  8. yep, but with Carnival the drink package is only sold starting day 2. but you at least know that when buying the package
  9. if the ship is still docked and for the time before geting out to open sea, these states consider the ship in their juristiction. The worst state for this is TX, where the ships can only serve from certain bottles taxed by TX.
  10. Yes, what I should have said is that RCLs listed menu prices were more reasonable so more was under the limit.
  11. In some ports the states/cities still want their tax $ on drinks served while ship is docked, even if you have the drink package. Tax is based on menu price of the drink. So even in high tax NY, it's maybe $2 at the most per drink, Some lines-I know RCL does and I presume from your experience HAL just pay it themselves don't charge the passengers. Carnival just doesn't let the drink package start until the 2nd day in those ports.
  12. Keep in mind that unlike with NCL with RCL bottled water and specialty coffees are included in the drink package. Also if I recall correctly, the drink price limit was less restrictive on RCL when we wanted a higher-end liquor. I hav only gone on one RCL (Oasis), but they had a much broader selection of beers. Most were bottles/cans,but it was nice to have a wider choice
  13. No tax in Alaska, but where does the cruise start? If Seattle, you will probably be charged tax while docked and for a little while after.
  14. I also didn't like having to e-mail the RCL gift card, but didn't feel it was a deal breaker to save 10%. I just happened to be checking just now and noticd a change to the RCL gift card terms, looks like we can now just make a call to apply the cards: Have questions about your Royal Caribbean gift card? Call Royal Caribbean Customer Support: 866-504-3941 for immediate assistance including card transactions and application of gift cards towards reservations.
  15. Yep, 49th State is on the short list, but probably not on the day we do the 26 Glacier Tour
  16. Thanks, I didn't see it yesterday, but just found the times on their website, back in Anchorage about 8:30 PM https://phillipscruises.com/rates/
  17. On the 26 glacier tour, do you recall about what time you were back in Anchorage (thinking about dinner plans)? Did you do the glacier tour or the wildlife tour?
  18. So far, except for a couple of brewpubs we found, no set plans for Anchorage We will probably take the bus tour around town on Tues after dropping off the bags at the Marriott, which is where RCL is putting us as part of the land tour. For the other nights, as of now we are staying at the Home 2 Suites https://goo.gl/maps/Hwpb8KZxd8RVjhgY7
  19. When in June? We are on the 6/21 sailing, with a pre cruise land tour starting Wed. Flying to Anchorage on the Sunday before to adjust to time change and t have a couple of days to do stuff in Anchorage.
  20. The annual policies I have looked at would only reimburse one trip cancellation
  21. You probably will-when our waiter came to clear the plates, we joked that he should have warned us about the size, he laughed and said yep he has never seen anybody finish it without sharing.
  22. one tip-the veal is excellent but huge! If we knew that before hand we would have just ordered one and split it. I hate wasting food and none of us could finish ours.
  23. With the current processing delays with passports, if it was me, I'd just renew now,
