Not many people pack more than my husband and I. I like options and don’t usually pay baggage fees. The wide drawers are a huge improvement over the open cabinet with one shelf in the same area on the S-class ships. For a variety of reasons we probably still prefer a ”Revolutionized” S-class ship as a whole, however, we prefer the Edge class Sky suites. The bathroom alone is a huge improvement!

I am in a S2 (10193) on the Edge right now and I’m not aware of any “storage space behind panels in the wall”. As you enter the suite there is a 4.5’ (approx) closet for hanging clothes, then a doorway into the bath, with a second 2’ wide closet with the very small safe and shelving on the other side of the door. Other storage is provided by three 4’ wide, fairly deep drawers.

There are two fairly comfortable chairs on our veranda along with a small table. No footstool. We have a lounger but our friends also in a S2 do not have a lounger. The rockers originally in the Sky suites have been removed. Other than the sofa there is only a desk chair and low round cocktail table. There is more than enough storage.

I believe the main difference between the three is location. S3’s are located within the track of the Magic Carpet so views could be slightly obstructed. They also have a different layout with the bed on a side wall so it doesn’t face the water like the S1& 2 suites do. I also don’t think they have the sliding mirrors in the bathroom which when open provide a view of the water. We are in a S2 Aft, Deck 10 and love the new layout with the bed facing the water! It’s a long walk to the Retreat which is Forward so I might try for a different location next time.

I would make the bid. We love both Celebrity and Royal Suites. We made bids of about 25% above minimum for both on the cruise we are currently on and did not get either. I hope you do but don’t get your hopes up too high.

My husband and I are currently sailing on a Celebrity ship and can not imagine what those on the quarantined ship are going through. We pray for their safety, health and comfort.

We too have been refused entry into Blu (twice) while sailing in a suite. Each time it was on a longer cruise where we simply wanted a change in venue but it was no problem and we understood completely when told space was not available.

Is the tub/shower hard to get in and out of? Is the tub very deep?
It is easier to get in/out of the Edge SS tub/shower than on the S-Class. The tub is square(ish) and not very deep.

Is a lounger available upon request?
Is there sufficient room for one?
There is enough room for one (along with the two other chairs) but positioning is very limited. Since ours was already here I don’t know about requesting one but I imagine you can. Our friends don’t spend anytime on their veranda so they didn’t care about not having one. It could be my imagination but the verandas don’t seem as deep as the ones on the S-class. The railings (metal not wood) are higher so there is an unobstructed view while sitting.

I write this while sitting on my bed in SS 10193 on the Edge. The rockers in our sky suite and our friends have been removed and the chair fits very nicely under the desk. No other seating was added. Our veranda has two chairs, one small table and a lounger. Our friend’s veranda does not have the lounger. We love having the bed face the water and the bigger bathroom is great (though we miss the rainhead shower).

Update! We boarded the Edge yesterday with our friends and four bottles of wine packed in one carryon. Security questioned the four bottles, verified with our friends that two were their’s and away we went. No issues whatsoever!
On another note, we love the Edge so far. Quite different from other Celebrity ships and definitely things we like better on the older ships but we could absolutely get used to sailing the new class of Celebrity ships!

I apologize if this has been asked and answered, however if I understand correctly, if your bid is rejected you don't have another opportunity to increase your bid?
We sail Sunday on the Edge and only received an email yesterday (Friday), 3 emails in fact for each Move-Up offer I made. The emails simply said “Unfortunately your offer to upgrade to a XXX was not accepted. We are sure you will have an unforgettable vacation in the stateroom you initially selected”. No opportunity at all to increase the bid. It was a done deal! We made offers of about 25% higher than the minimum on three upper level suites. I do think that you can increase your bid after your initial bid though but not sure how close to sail date this can be done.

It was mentioned above that it states on the Celebrity website that wine being brought onboard at embarkation should be in luggage carried on, not left with porters. This is what we plan to do on Sunday, but for the life of me I can not find where this is stated on the website. I see several places where the two bottle per stateroom is mentioned but nothing more. If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to bring a printout of the policy when we board so should we have an issue like before we will have backup! Thank you!

As mentioned above, I do think I’ll print Celebrity’s policy/instructions from their website just in case we have an issue again.

Thank you for your replies. We were very surprised when they took our wine especially when our friends who went through security with us didn’t have there’s taken. No reason was given and we have never been called to the “naughty room” so our name wasn’t on a list! Our wine will be in our carry on luggage when we board on Sunday!
-
Our last experience with taking two very nice bottles of wine on board did not go very well. We went through Celebrity security with our carryon with two bottles of wine as did the couple we were traveling with. They went through with no mention of wine while we had to leave our bottles with a Celebrity rep who said it would be in our suite later in the day. (The two carryon’s with the wine were identical.) Fortunately we had a great butler and after three days he tracked our wine down in the theater of all places. We along with the same friends are planning to bring wine aboard the Edge this coming Sunday. I know it’s not necessary but my husband and his friend save certain bottles for special times and we all enjoy them on our trips. Is it better to leave it in luggage left with the porter or to carry it on ourselves?

You guys are so helpful. You convinced me to go for a corner aft SS. I chose the 9th deck port side. I was able to find a video of the room. I don’t know how my TA did it but she got it for only $40 more than our current Aqua and $100 more obc. Now to wait til June 2021! We’re supposed to leave in March for China but that is looking less promising.
You will not regret it! We loved the corner aft SS we were in on the Silhouette. Great job by the TA!

And add the Blue Martini in the Martini Bar. I can’t wait til next week on the Edge to try the Fresca Martini a prior poster mentioned! DH and a traveling buddy love the Zacapa Old Fashioned in the World Class Bar as well.

Bo, that simply is not true. Edge is selling liquor in the Duty Free shop at retail prices. I’ve never seen that before.
Unfortunately, wine/champagne is priced entirely different though. It is generally priced close to (and occasionally more than) double what we might pay in a local wine store. I wish it were priced like liquor! My husband can be a bit of a wine snob (when it’s just us) and can spend way too much on wine while on a cruise.

Will be following along!

Our dry cleaning and pressed items have always come back nicely. Laundered items may come back neatly folded or more recently, folded so sloppily the items were unwearable. When possible I wash items (Woolite packets) in our cabin, roll in a pool towel to extract as much moisture as possible, and hang to dry. They look better that way than sending to the laundry!

We have sailed most all of the S and M class ships and are looking forward to our first Edge cruise in a couple of weeks. I’ve read everything concerning the Edge on CC with a grain of salt. I am sure there are legitimate “gripes” about the Edge but many people just don’t like change so no matter how wonderful the ship is, they will find fault simply because it’s different. We plan to have a wonderful cruise regardless of whether it becomes our new favorite ship or not.

Celebrity Edge internet speeds

I can’t compare it but it is SLOW!! They tout that you can stream movies-NO WAY! At least you couldn’t this past week. We were on the Solstice for two weeks last March (AU/NZ) and the internet was much, much better. Finding the internet so slow on the Edge has been very disappointing.
