  1. I agree. We did it several years ago and I am seriously considering doing it again. I think that we used Butts Up Cave Tubing. It also included a stop at Amigos for lunch. Very good tour.
  2. Yep. I second it. Make reservations online. I think that they only take 130 people.
  3. I never thought about it out of Tampa either. We have a Celebrity cruise in April of 25.
  4. Beshears, There is a lot of good info at: www.cozumelmycozumel.com and cozumelinsider.com. They have lists of beaches and restaurants.
  5. We have snorkeled at several different locations on Coz. Play Uvas, Playa Corona, Chankanaab Park, and Dzul Ha before the Money Bar was there. Our favorite is Chankanaab with the Money Bar second.
  6. They don't make change either. Take small bills.
  7. We usually do MDR and then top it off at the Windjammer.
  8. We did Carnival and Royal last year. Yes the food has declined, both in selection and palatability, but I never went to bed hungry. Cruising is still the cheapest vacation for us. I have priced AI Resorts and can't come close to a cruise.
  9. Be yourself. You will probably never see these people again.
  10. If I remember correctly, it is a little cool. Mid to upper 70's.
  11. I miss the days of the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang. Found out about Chac Chi here on Cruise Critic and had to check it out on our second visit. Had the beach to ourselves. The cruise companies tried to get the owner to sell and put a fence around the resort to stop entry. Even the taxis were reluctant to go there, so someone made a hole in the fence. Alas, a hurricane finally closed the resort down. Mahahual was a street of beach clubs and small stores. I remember one about the size of my storage shed that was named Woolmart. It was fun then but not our cup of tea now. We will book one of the beach clubs like Nohoch, Maya Chan, or Jaime's. To be honest, I really liked Calica better, even though you had to take a tour or a taxi to see anything.
  12. Depends on the port. Jamaica has three with Ocho Rios the only one that I debark for. Montego Bay and Falmouth don't have anything but possibly a beach that would interest us. I believe that the warning was for Montego Bay. Labadee is private and is pretty secure. I wouldn't go anywhere else on Haiti without a gun.
  13. Up front, I will say that I am cheap. Not frugal, just monetarily challenged so I always crunch the numbers. We leave in 4 weeks for a cruise on the Voyager of the Seas out of Galveston. We did this ship last May with our daughters, so we are familiar with the ship. I booked back in November through an online TA that we have used for 20 years. I got an inside cabin on deck 2 midship for@253@. Add port fees, taxes, insurance and tips and it comes up to $1026.59. Always wanted to try Celebrity. Found a 6 night on the Constellation out of Tampa in April 2025 for $535 with inside cabin midship on deck 2. Taxes, insurance, fees, tips, and processing fee brings it to $1316.29. We will drive to both ports. Giner D's Buick gets 38 MPG.πŸ˜‰
  14. We have been to Nassau twice which was once too many. Much prefer islands farther south. If I had another stop in Nassau I would stay on the ship, eat, hit the waterslide, and eatπŸ˜‰.
  15. We cruise one or two times a year and have done road trips the last three. Visited Rapid City SD and saw Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, and the Badlands. Then drove to Devils Tower and camped. Landed up in Rocky Mountain NP and then Pikes Peak. That one was about 3000 Miles. Been to Yellowstone, the Tetons and Dinosaur National Monument. Another 3000 miles. Last year was the Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon and Mesa Verde. 3500 mile. To be honest, I would rather cruise. We don't have to plan everything 6-12 months out. Don't have to pack camping gear and research where to camp. No cooking, laundry, or dishwashing. Yeah, I am spoiled.
  16. I seriously doubt it. Security would probably stop you at the gate. They do check ID.
  17. We have had to bug out early twice because of bad weather. Once we left 2 days early during an ice storm. Then last year, we left 3 days early because of an impending storm and loafed our way down through Mississippi stopping at Clarksdale for a Blues fix. Visited the Crossroads and then went to Vicksburg and toured the Civil War Battlefield. A day early in New Orleans let us look around the French Quarter. It turned out swell. I can understand the anxiety when one has to time a cruise around a work schedule or flights. Fortunately, we are retired and can go with whatever Mother Nature wants to throw at us. That being said, winter is usually the best time to cruise if you are looking for cheaper cruises.
  18. We went to Reef Yucatan Resort many years ago. It was pretty good with a big pool, swim-up bar, and buffet. There was a good stretch of beach and volleyball net. They also had a trip to the Xcambo ruins just a short distance from the resort. I would do it again. I have seen reviews on Tecnohotel and Slicer, but have not made it to them yet.
  19. We have a Guaranteed Inside booked for January. I was a little apprehensive, but the price was dirt cheap. If I have learned anything after 21 cruises is to always take earplugs, so I'm ready to tough it out. We did this many moons ago and was located next to an elevator. Needed earplugs. I can guarantee that I can eat enough to cover my cabin price.
  20. We booked a tour at the dock with a local company. Took us to the volcano and a botanical garden. You can get really good pictures of the valley where the town of Soufriere is, the Pitons and some of the most rugged hillside jungles that you can find anywhere. The volcano isn't much but it is still well worth the trip.
  21. Crewsweeper, What was the name of Jack's dog? We had fritters there many years ago and watched the dog dig and splash. I think that it was Toffer.
  22. Check out Victor Bodden or Roni's. Both offer tours that you can customize.
  23. You definitely don't want to miss the ice show. The one on Voyager of the Seas was great. We did a Carnival and a Royal Caribbean this year and RC is by far my favorite. Hard to say that when we are Platinum on Carnival.
