  1. We are in St Thomas on the 13th of December on the Norwegian Escape - there will be 2 cruise ships in port on this day including ours - just wondering if it's worth waiting until our arrival and then picking up a tour at the port - given that we've done our research and have a fair idea what we want to do?  There are 6 in our group.

  2. I am considering booking the same tour - I have been in contact with Anison via email and he has suggested the River Tubing/Trafalgar Falls/Beach tour which takes 6 hrs. Just wondering whether the beach (Mero beach) is worth visiting or should I just take the River Tubing/Trafalgar Falls option. It will cost us an extra US$45 for our family to add Mero Beach to our tour - just wondering if it 's worth it.

  3. All Ashore is about 9:30 a.m. You have to be out of your room between 8:00-8:30, so if you are staying on the ship longer, let the porters take your bags off the ship to the baggage hall.

You always have the option of enjoying a NY city tour ending at the airport.

I don't think the NCL NYC tour gives the option of going to Newark Airport though - I've already checked that out.

  4. We arrive at NYC at 8am on the 21st December after a 12 night Southern Caribbean cruise - just wondering at what time everybody has to be off the ship? I know they give staggered times to disembark but we don't have to be at the Newark Airport until about 1pm for our 3.15pm flight to Calgary. Just wondering if we should get off early and spend a few hours in NYC or should we stay on till about 10am and then start to make our way to the airport? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  6. Following this post - we are cruising to Dominica in December and would like to book a tour but there don't seem to be any recent reviews on Tripadvisor - none since Hurricane Maria last year. Any update on the current conditions at Dominica?

  7. We are cruising on a 12 night Southern Caribbean itinerary on the Escape leaving NYC on the 9th of December. A member of our group will be turning 50 while on the cruise and I wanted to book one of the restaurants on the night of her birthday - just wondering if anybody can suggest which restaurant would be best??? There are 6 in our group and we will be sailing out of St Thomas that day at 5pm.

  8. Taking anyone’s personal items is considered theft. Spending time in security would be a high price for a chair. Cameras everywhere. All they have to say is that there was a watch/iPad in the stuff you handled and that it has gone missing after you touched it. Don’t touch.

To steal something you have to intend to permanently deprive the person of the thing......not what is being discussed here at all.

This comment is ridiculous - if I find something belonging to somebody else that looks like it's been left behind I will hand it in - it's just the right thing to do - leaving it there makes it vulnerable to be stolen.

  10. We sailed on RCI Radiance of the Seas just before a dry-dock - we didn't really notice anything much out of the ordinary - there were a few broken chairs, the plumbing was playing up, but apparently that had been happening on that ship for awhile anyway. No shows were cancelled and the food was still top-notch.

  11. We are able to book a Family Oceanview room for 5 on the Escape - price still works out cheaper than a Family Oceanview room for 4 on the Anthem. Escape price includes beverage package, shore excursion credit, Internet credit and guests 3 and 4 travel free which would explain why it is cheaper than the Anthem price. The kids grandparents are coming as well so we can always spread out over a few cabins in we need to. Sounds like both are very similar - just wondering if the Anthem is worth the extra $?

  12. The price of the Escape cruise includes the drink packages plus a lot of other exclusions - great special at the time. We do fly into NJ but want to spend a couple of days in New York before the cruise so that would mean going into Manhattan and then heading back to NJ after the cruise to fly out from Newark again. I know the weather will be cold leaving NY but it should get quite warm in the Caribbean shouldn't it?

  13. The only thing I didn't really like about the Escape was the fact that you couldn't use the covered in pool- reserved for Haven guests only. They also have the Vibe Club which is reserved for first-in best-dressed - and a lot of people who pay for the Haven also get these Vibe passes as they are first to board and therefore get first dibs. I hope it is still a good cruise for the people who book the standard ocean-view cabins on Deck 5.

  14. We are looking at doing a Caribbean cruise out of New York in December - we can’t choose between the Escape or the Anthem of the Seas. Both itineraries look great - Escape is cheaper yet a day longer. I’ve heard you fork out more money onboard the Escape though. There will be 5 of us travelling - 2 adults and 3 kids aged 18, 16 and 12. Appreciate any advice, thank-you.
