  1. I am considering a Galapagos cruise for our family of 5 adults. I had done a Celebrity Galapagos cruise about 6 years ago. I thought that they did a great job at that time. I am wondering if anyone here has done the Galapagos with either line lately and might give me some tips on choosing one over the other. I understand that they are both essentially owned by the same company so I am wondering if there is much to consider other that the actual ships. I know things have changed over the last few years. Thanks.
  2. We are considering a cruise with Windstar in the Caribbean and are wondering about opportunities to scuba dive. Are diving excursions offered on the ship ?
  3. I enjoyed my last post Covid Azamara cruise. That is why I have booked another one and am looking forward to it. However I empathize with guests who are having issues with the new software rollout. It is extremely frustrating to have paid for airline tickets, find out that they were never paid for and ticketed. My travel agent had difficulty booking and had to wait an extended amount of time to talk to Azamara. I had friends with special needs who wanted to travel with us but their agent had difficulty with the website and couldn’t get a hold of them. I agree that this is a big PR issue. Azamara needs to own it and communicate with guests and agents.
  4. I don’t understand what is going on here. I cruised on Azamara June 2022. At that time I was Discovery Plus. I booked a cruise for December 2023. I now have zero points when I go to their web page to look at my current reservation. I don’t even have any points for the cruise that I took last year. Not happy ! Tried to call and ask about it but they are not answering their phones.
  5. It depends on how the casino space will be used. Public space or squeezing more cabins in ?
  6. I was disappointed in the Constellation in December. Many of the more expensive items were missing from buffet and dining room. It’s understandable that some changes need to occur due to escalated food prices. However I found several items that were also just not prepared properly. Foods overcooked etc. couldn’t get waffles at breakfast because nobody knew how to make them. There were also several other issues. I have sailed with Celebrity for a long time, so I’m not willing to give up yet, but I feel that changes need to occur if they expect to keep me.
  7. I agree. The OBC is not quite what it used to be. Prices on excursions, spa etc have increased about 50% over the past 2 years. I tried Azamara and liked it last June. However quality does not seem to consistent over time. I have done 7 cruises in the last couple of years. I was happy with all of them except the last Celebrity cruise. Hoping this is just a 1 off.
  8. Be careful who you book with. Last February 2022, I booked a cruise thru a large online travel website. The cruise was to sail February 2023. A year ago I was told about the final payment date. A year later the payment came due on Thanksgiving weekend. I never received an email or phone call notification of payment due. Being busy over the holidays, I missed the payment. The company canceled my reservation and never even notified me that it had been canceled. I was told that I could rebook the 1 week cruise for an additional $3000. They kept my $500 deposit and won’t return it. The same company sends me about 12 emails a month soliciting travel but they couldn’t bother sending an automated email reminder ?
  9. As of a week ago, Covid tests were available from a pharmacy across the street from the Hilton. The cost was $15 and the results were available in 15 mins. We did not need appointments. We just walked in.
  10. Last week, my hubby and I stayed at the Hilton. My daughter stayed at the Intercontinental prior to our arrival. The Hilton looked newer. The beds very comfortable, lobby is pretty and the bathrooms are larger. My daughter preferred the intercontinental because it was more “resort like” with a beach and outdoor entertainment. She also stayed in an OWB. The Hilton had the advantage of being across the street from a small mall with a supermarket and pharmacy. Either one would be good for a 1 or 2 night stay. The three of us agreed that the service was lacking at both resorts and the food was fair.
  11. I was very happy with the main dining room. Made a reservation for the Grill. It poured that evening and we ended up in the main dining room. Didn’t really feel that we were missing out. You can’t go wrong either way. You can use the phone in your cabin to call for a reservation.
  12. If you scuba, it’s a must. Snorkeling inMoorea with the rays and sharks excellent. And sunset cruise in Bora Bora was breathtaking.
  13. Just returned yesterday. Three of us cruised. My husband, daughter and myself. My husband is PADI Rescue diver, my daughter advanced and I was open water. I lost my log book several years ago and never replaced it. My husband offered his and nobody looked at it. My husband and I have been diving for 30 yrs. I have over 100 dives. We had also been diving within the past 6 months and are in good health. There was no problem with us doing any of the dives. My husband and I used our own equipment since we are familiar with the equipment and have it checked yearly. My daughter used the equipment on board. It appeared to be fairly new and well maintained. My husband also had an issue with one of his hoses. They had a replacement hose on board and were able to repair it. An impressive dive team. Beautiful diving. Have fun !
  14. No they do not specifically include the meds you mentioned.
  15. I will be experiencing my first Azamara cruise soon so have not yet experienced the piped in music. However if the music is not live, I vote to turn it off.
  16. I received meds from my doctor. I take them when I travel just in case. I also bring various over the counter meds in case.
  17. I am somewhat worried. I have been on 6 cruises on 4 different lines since the cruising restart. The experience is not like it was pre Covid and I see everyone continuing to struggle. I understand that we are still dealing with Covid, supply chain issues, the economy and airline issues. It doesn’t matter who’s to blame. If people feel the experience is not worth the money, challenges and costs continue to go up, people will not spend the money to go. I am hoping that all goes well for the passengers, employees, investors. And am looking forward to my first Azamara cruise in June with hope ! Time will tell.
