  1. There is, but they call it deck 14, lol. Just like rows on airlines, goes from 12 to 14
  2. I think it depends on the server. I am always solo so have not tried myself, but I did see them stop someone on Navigator once from sharing wings with someone who was not a UDP person. So I would ask nicely and see what happens.
  3. Actually Navigator of the Seas is my favorite ship, and she is ported out of San Pedro in LA. I am on her at least 3 or 4 times a year on the 7 day cruises. One great thing on her is the bar/restaurant, Playmakers. And it has very long hours each day. Also good is Sabor, the Mexican restaurant with my favorite drink, the habenero margarita. Does not have a Broadway show, but the others are always good.
  4. J&J cruises vlog had a week on the newer of the 2 ships and overall liked it.
  5. It's nice once you hit 340 points because then you get the individual shampoo, conditioners, bath gel and lotions. I do carry on only always, so don't take things like that.
  6. I use my free days, and then once they are gone, I purchase the rest of cruise. Most ships have a list of those with casino discount, but I always go to the Voom desk the last day to confirm. Never had an issue. Of course, you are buying at the regular price, but after two free days and then the 30% off, it works out best for me. Plus depending on where we are on the interim day, sometimes I just use my phone ashore and wait a day.
  7. All 20 have actually been since the restart. I cruise 5 to 8 times a year. But it was after the restart that I began doing ONLY unlimited dining so that was when I started to remove the auto-grats. It just made no sense because I am not in the mdr nor the buffet. So I started taking them all off and tipping like we did many years ago, all direct. Every room steward has always had a big smile when I explained what I was doing. Cash is definitely king. And whether they then contribute the cash I hand them to a "pool" is their business, not mine.
  8. This is the most accurate information in all these pages of posts!!!!
  9. That is what every one I have asked has said. Over 20 over the years at least.
  10. I actually tell the room steward I removed the auto when I give them the first $25. This is just slightly over what they would have received if I had left it on the account. Several have told me they actually prefer cash. Then I add more on the last day depending on how good the service has been. As a solo I really keep everything put up, only ask for a paper Compass each night and ice at night, and I use the towels for 3 or 4 days before putting them on the floor to be replaced. Only once have I not added more money at the end and that was only because I never got the ice or the paper compass. Usually I add another $25 at the end.
  11. They have been in the morning since at least 2021. I actually like it. It is a nice start to the day and doesn't interrupt things later. A glass of champagne is great
  12. I only do UDP, so I never eat in Windjammer or the MDR. I remove the tips and then tip my cabin steward at beginning and end of the cruise and add to the auto-tip on the unlimited dining because it really is not enough. But why would I tip the people who are in restaurants I don't go to? I eat twice a day, lunch and dinner. All are at the specialty restaurants anymore or on shore on port days. Each person should do what they feel is right. As for behind the scenes people, I don't tip them anywhere. They are salaried employees. A tip is for personal service. Companies trying to get customers to supplement the income of regular employees is not something I am going to encourage by participating in the charade. I tip a lot on cruises and I get great service. Quite frankly, I think I would get the good service anyway, but I CHOOSE to tip well for the great service.
  13. You mean the glass chips? lolol. I like the new look. Old ones looked like something from the 1960's my grandmother would have worn. The new is modern and clean.
  14. In LA I always see it enforced, at least for the 10:30 time which I always get. I sail from there multiple times a year. I am usually onboard the ship by 10:50. Very well organized. Wish all ports were this efficient. I find Galveston to be very disorganized.
  15. Insurance is a contract between you and the insurance company. No one can tell you what will be covered without seeing and understanding the policy. I would suggest reading it carefully. If not understood adequately, call company and ask; or better yet, ask your attorney to review it.
  16. yes. I also make all my other reservations for the week while there.
  17. On her four times in past year, most recent May 17th. I always get the 10:30 boarding time and have always had to show my boarding pass to get in that line. It is a very efficient and well run port thanks to the enforcement. They have separate lines for other times. If they get everyone from 10:30 on before 11, then they start the next line. I have seen people told to leave and the agent points to their proper line. Why does anyone think they should be allowed to just get on whenever they want? That is why the lines are so long at some of the Florida ports I been to. In San Pedro I am always on the ship with a drink in hand by 10:45 t0 11:00 a.m. Smooth sailing!
  18. I am now doing about one every 6 to 8 weeks, so I hope to hit 100 soon.
  19. I deo UDP about half of my cruises. But when I don't I have never had a problem doing the BOGO as a solo. Some ships make you do nights 1 and 2. Others let you do 1 or 2 and then any other night. Some charge for the highest price meal, others charge for first meal with second free no matter which is more. So I always do the more expensive one second just in case, lol.
  20. It was only Izumi hibachi that you had to go there to book on Harmony. Regular Izumi could be done anywhere
  21. On about 75% of my cruises I only do specialty dining, so I remove the autotips and tip more in the specialty dining rooms because I don't think the 18% on the UDP is adequate. I never eat breakfast and never eat in the MDR those trips. I never go to the buffet on ANY cruise. So it makes no sense at all to leave the dining tips in place since I don't use those servers. I also give room steward more directly, part first or second day and rest at the end.
  22. I also prefer the ship's regular ice water than bottled. But I don't drink bottled at home or anywhere I travel unless in a country where water is questionable. Most countries now have safe water.
  23. Grease is my favorite, Cats second, and Hairspray third. Hate, hate, hate Momma Mia, but then I never did like Abba's music. But Allure is my favorite of the Oasis class ships until they ruin her in 2025 with the refurb. I will so miss the best Crown Lounge in the entire fleet.
