  1. Update: September 2024.

Price has increased to €1.60pp e/way.

The ticket booth mentioned previously is actually outside the further port ( where the ferries are). If you dock nose in - facing the buildings you are at that one.

Otherwise the other dock you are parallel to the land and they should have a manned ticket booth.

Thanks for posting this.  Just so I'm clear, this is what was information made available to you on board the ship, not in advance of your sailing, correct?

That's an acceptable deal to the Ravenna train station.  Of course it's more expensive than your other option, the public bus, but not so much more that I'd really think hard about it.  And it's less than a taxi for two people, assuming you could even get one.

Yes this was info on board the ship.

Note they “fib” saying there is no public transport in Ravenna, when we all know there is a bus 🚌

In fairness to Royal we sailed with them a lot when our children were younger but now they are grown up (over 18) our needs have changed, so perhaps that was a factor in how we felt about the trip on Anthem last year. If we ever have any grandchildren then perhaps we would go back but until then there are much better lines out there with better food (Virgin Voyages), a nicer environment where we can find a seat in the evening and see the sea (P&O Iona/Arvia), no awkwardness with regards to gratuities, ratings, etc and no nickel and diming (Virgin & P&O). Royal seem to have forgotten it is supposed to be a holiday!

Totally agree! VV is so refreshing with outstanding food quality and presentation, the staff are efficient and friendly and simply Doing Their Job; they aren’t trying to be your best friend to get tips or begging for a 🔟; it’s so nice not having to sign any paperwork 📑 when you get a drink or finish your meal. I think they will shake up the cruise market - especially here in England where we Brits generally hate all that faux friendly stuff.

Will this mean just maintenance work with such a short dry dock? I'm sailing her on 23rd of May.

Her dry dock has been slightly extended as she now arrives in BCN on 23rd April so she only has to get round to Cadiz.

She desperately needs decor and furniture 🛋️ upgrades!

I just (I hope!) booked our excursions using OBC, as we have a lot.  I knew from these boards that I couldn't do it online, so I wrote down the ones we wanted and then called.  However I found out I have to first select each excursion, then call, and the agent applied my OBC.

Checking tonight, all my OBC is still there.  Hoping that it is straightened out, but not sure how to know positively that the OBC has been used.

Now trying to reserve ship to airport transfers; can't figure that one out either!

My shore ex only shows 1 person booked. I’m hoping that under DHs account it shows him as booked ( but of course he doesn’t have an account!!).

The amount of shore ex OBC remaining has not altered either 🤷‍♀️

We took the 8% for our next in feb 25. Will probably be used for specialities or drinks package. Your Mauritius is even further out so I would just remain on the fence for a while longer. Maybe you will get an even better offer.

If we take the 8% you can guarantee there will be a 10% deal next - lol!!

And if we don’t take the 8% then the next deal will certainly be 5%!

Thank you all for your kind replies, I will be holding out for the 10%!!!!!

    Just received 8% offer.

Not sure whether to leave money earning interest … we are not spa people and we don’t do shore ex, so not sure what would we do with OBC and there is no longer a casino where you can cash it out 🤔

Eh.. there is 5-7 happy hour with unlimited alcohol from limited menu and Elite breakfast with Bellinis, Mimisas, Bloody Marys.

I usually have my first drink of the day after 6:30p so this limited time frame doesn’t interest me drinking cheap gin

( although I remember when it was 4-6p and the outcry that it was the end of the world when X changed it to 5-7!!)

I rarely make the breakfast on either X or RCI as it ends far too early for me. And I certainly don’t want a drink at that hour of the morning!!

Thank goodness for the Zenacle Premium drinks package 👏

Did "John Smith" work for Virgin or were they a travel agent? I only know of having a direct contact at Virgin if you have a casino connection.

Hi, he was my VIRGIN VOYAGES DIRECT VACATION PLANNER

What is annoying is that every flyer email I get still has his details at the bottom ..Contact your First Mate (aka Travel Agent)

He booked directly with VV and the person that helped him originally is no longer there and he wants to get the details of who has taken over. I had said that isn’t how VV work and they don’t get assigned specific clients.

Well, I had several backwards and forward email conversations with John Smith (not his real name) and even a telephone chat about my previous booking so he certainly was the only one assigned to look after me and my booking then!
