  1. "Life's too short to drink bad wine" - Goethe
  2. I had a recent purchase from USA on my NAB Visa. Exchange rate used used was 0.71 which is about right. They charged a transaction fee of 3%. I liked the Velocity Global Wallet because I could load it with different currencies and use as a debit card. If don't find something similar I may just stick to my Visa card. I also have a Mastercard as backup incase something happens to the Visa.
  3. Correct. My first UK/Euro tour was six weeks. Four weeks is the norm for annual vacation. Also, we can add on Long Service Leave and, in some cases, untaken sick leave.
  4. My wife and I were there on, IIRC, Radiance OTS. We left the day the fire started and could just see smoke in the distance. Stonehenge was very interesting. I emember it being a very hot day. We bought an ice cream each and they were melting almost faster than we could eat them.
  5. Since Velocity is no longer supporting Global Wallet, which I found very handy, what's the go to for cashless foreign currency transacxtions? I have seen, in the past, that 28 Degrees has a few supporters. I'll be having a look at that one.
  6. Looks like you'll be disembarking just before I'm boarding. I've had my flu and pneumonia shots as well as four COVIDS but I'll still be masking up.
  7. Very familiar with HV wine scene. Was supposed to be going to Piggs Peake this Saturday night for their 2022 wine release - an annual event involving free food and wine tasting - but my cruising BF who usually comes with me has a funeral to attend at Harvey Bay. No problem, there are three other nights I can go to in July.
  8. I'm wondering what to do when Westerdam calls in at Newcastle on January 4. Maybe a CC event at Harry's CDW?
  9. Pulled the trigger today on what I thought is a good deal. Sydney/Singapore 16 days Westerdam o/v 3/1/2023. $2500 including return flight.
  10. Hmmm. Just been guessing so far. Malaysia guess was because it was an Asian country where they drive on the left. That's as far as I can get without any hints.
  11. Plenty of virus going around here and dropping of flies too. Check out where we are now compared to twelve months ago. Australia COVID - Coronavirus Statistics - Worldometer (worldometers.info)
  12. We started that cruise from Seattle after flying in from Las Vegas (post National Park tour) Sep 2016. "Finished" was not quite correct, I should have said last port before finishing in Seattle. Here is the last photo I took but can't remember where. Spent some of this morning calling TAs planning next trip, 4 Jun 2023. It will be a HAL cruise (ref #Y2c).
  13. OPT = Overseas Passenger Terminal, Sydney Cove.
  14. My last Alaska cruise was on Solstice, finishing in Vancouver. Had the best Beef Wellington on last night dinner. Cruised on Solstice three times - love it.
  15. I have rented cars in Greece, UK and NZ. Each time the rental includes accident damage with a large excess/deductable. I have found that by paying a bit more I could get cover for the excess. This came in habdy in NZ where the basic insurance did not cover windscreen damage and, yep, the screen got hit by a stone which left a star chip. This was picked up by a check of thje car when I retuirned it but, by having the extra cover, I did not have to pay for a new windscreen. Another time in Wales I scraped a rear fender against a stone wall while parking in Caernarfen. I didn't notice that this had happened as the fender/bumper was made of plastic. The damage was picked up on return of the car at Heatrhrow and I was saved from having to pay a hefty excess.
  16. That sounds more like my one and only (Sea) Princess cruise. Never seen so many walking frames, scooters and oxy bottles on a single cruise.😵
