  1. As I said, we had not cruised at that time and our impression was somewhat tainted. Thoughts of "booze cruises" drug parties etc.. I have read the Coroner's report and it seems P&O did everything right. Ms Brimble's bar receipts were checked and IIRC were not excessive. She was given GBH, likely unknowingly. By "known persons". I hope those lowlife young men are never allowed on a cruise ship again.
  2. A hint. It's a desert. What is it's name?
  3. Unless there is a strong chlorine smell you wont get me in one of those tubs full of "kid soup".
  4. I don't think there will be a first time on P&O for me. Ever since the sad Dianne Brimble episode. At the time we had never been on a cruise and thought if that's the way things are handled then it's not for us. We went on our first cruise 10 years later and found a good one first up - Celebrity. That was followed by four other different cruise lines. Mostly HAL for me now.
  5. Very distinctive, St Barnabas chapel Norfolk Island?
  6. I rarely watch a movie twice and US TV news seems very biased depending which way you lean. I don't mind ABC America or PBS Newshour but have never seen these on a cruise, Mainly, the TV helps in sending me off to the land of nod. I sleep with the TV on most nights with the sound turned down 'till I can just hear it but not enough to know what is being said. Have never needed a sleeping pill ever.
  7. Have been to White Bay many times by taxi and they all knew the way. Under $20 from QVB. May have gone up a little since last time.
  8. I have cruised on HAL in Australia, where I live, and USA. All prices on board (including grats) are USD even in Oz.
  9. Back in the 70's I worked with a woman who had a son and named him Clayton. It always made think he was the kid she had when she wasn't having a kid.😁
  10. Age is just a number. A few weeks ago I was working on the roof of my house and a 60ish guy walking past called out that people over 60 should not be climbing ladders and climbing about on roofs. I replied "It's ok, I'm over 70"😁
  11. A few years back wife and I did a NYE Sydney Harbour cruise. The cruise boat was great with drinks, food and live band. But the fireworks show was a big let down. Watercraft had to moor, anchor or motor about, too far away. The sound of the fireworks exploding and music were way out of sync with the visual. I just watch it on TV - sometimes.
  12. It's a bug in the system. Sometimes when I hit the Submit nothing happens, so, I hit it again and find it double posted. Nowadays if that happens, after hitting submit and nothing happens, I open CC on a new page and find the posting is now on the thread. I then close out the old page for the new.
  13. I sometimes wonder where all the hippies went. I should know, I am of that era, but I don't. Perhaps they just went to pot.
  14. And here I am thinking about whether I should cook a couple of Aldi pork and herb sausages or go get a Whopper. The Whopper is winning ATM. First world problems tire me out.
  15. Kia ora. looking forward to your writings. Africa is on my list to see someday Africa as in south of Egypt.
  16. You are quite right, the tour guide can make a huge difference to one's experience. Thankfully, most I have come across have been excellent, but sadly, not the one in Israel. I do like seeing and where possible, experiencing different customs and lifestyles in various countries and I did learn a lot in Israel. An amusing one, to me, was at my hotel in Tel Aviv. On Fridays the lift stops at every floor going up or down. Friday, or shabbat, is their holy day on which work should not be done which includes pressing the lift button. "To each their own."
  17. I did a week tour of Israel in 2018 (one of four countries visited on one tour). Not impressed. I imagine it would be ok for someone interested in biblical history - which I am not - but that was pretty much the emphasis put on it by the tour guide. I accept that's why most would go there. I would not be interested in going again. Turkiye on the other hand, I have been to twice and would go again - much more interesting country with more history and archaeology.
