  1. I would have to go for the steamer in that case - long legs and sleeves.😁
  2. As of yesterday I am now wearing a spring suit instead of a steamer when windsurfing. In a few weeks I, hopefully, wont need the spring suit. I wonder if a spring suit would be suitable in the MDR, maybe if I wear my booties too?😄
  3. That's where "balance" kicks in. God implanted the idiots with a homing device to ensure they keep returning to keep everything in check.😉
  4. You can drive yourself as I did in 2020 but, to do the tour you have to book beforehand and you become part of a tour group and bussed to Hobbiton from the Hobbiton information centre (there is car parking available). You cannot go to the (movie) set by private car. I booked directly with Hobbiton.
  5. The Cruise episode was a scream. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b007c3zx/keeping-up-appearances-sea-fever
  6. I thought Victorians were south of the border Mexicans.
  7. There is almost no need for cash in Australia off ship . Card use is almost universal and some retail businesses are cashless. Also, you wont need cash for tipping. Tipping is not expected but is appreciated. I use my Visa card for everything.
  8. To op. These are USD prices. USD13 is about AUD20. Wine prices are really OTT nowadays. Unless you drink a lot the drinks package would not be worth it. On my recent HAL cruises (Alaska June, Syd/Sng Januaury) I had the occasional glass of wine but mostly had water with meals. I made an exception during happy hours and went for cocktails in the Crows Nest.
  9. I've always found AC a bit cool on most ships. On deck, IME, it may be cool to pleasant while underway. You should be able to find a spot to your liking.
  10. A visa can be done online which will ensure you have one and it would be cheaper than what the cruise line will charge. I visited Bali last January on HAL and many on the Roll Call were having trouble getting HAL to acknowledge that the ship would do visas. They did arrange them. Most on the Roll Call got their visa on-line. It was a little tricky negotiating the Indonesian website but doable. I found the information I needed in this Roll Call.
  11. OT, but related to this. News this morning of Qantas rorting FFs.
  12. Cue Mamas and Papas. "Monday Monday". Which will now be stuck in my ear for the rest of the day.🙄
  13. With you all the way with that one. I'm a 60s R&R and R&B fan (play guitar) but also enjoy the live classical music in Lincoln Centre. You not only hear the music but also feel it.
  14. Until the tennis and cricket starts. Not again, we had that last year.
  15. So looking forward to radio and TV stations resuming their regular programs.🙄
  16. That's easy to work out. Requirements for some sort of visa that OP read about other than ETA perhaps?
  17. Suit - no, jacket - no, long sleeve shirt - no. Tie - no. For me it's a nice collared shirt, clean jeans or trousers. Never feel uncomfortable in MDR on formal nights. No need to dress to impress others. Also keeps packing to a minimum. Others can do what they like or feel comfortable with.
  18. Time for a HAL cruise mate. Bread and butter pudding every day. Yummo.
  19. I like to hang out in the Crowsnest -(usually) a quite place to read a book, play cards or other games (provided). A library close by too. It has a bar and specialty coffee is available. Also a good spot for happy hour or just watching the waves roll by.
  20. HAL is no different to other lines re excursion pricing. If you think they are too expensive join your roll call where you may be able to join others organising private tours.
