Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Not very long maybe 3 hours. I would definitely go there again but not on a cruise excursion your time is too limited.
  2. I didn’t care for the boat over to the mainland at all. It was quite windy that day and the water was rough. I really did enjoy this excursion but the price and how long you were actually there wasn’t worth it.
  3. I will be on the Mardi Gras too this October. This will be my 4th Halloween cruise. You will see some awesome costumes. It’s my favorite time of the year for cruising.
  4. I booked one of my cruises through Carnival and the other with Costco. You can still get cover more insurance even though you didn’t book with Costco. It’s a couple of dollars more but still worth it. I can find the phone number and post it if you would like.
  5. They have a waiver for pre existing conditions if the policy is bought within 21 days of purchase.
  6. I was on the Spirit in late June for a 7 day cruise. I personally liked the ship food and service. We had an inside room which was fine we were there to sleep. I was on top deck all week with my binoculars admiring the beautiful scenery. I didn’t think it would be that cold in late June and it was. My son who loves cooler weather was cold. I’m planning another trip to Alaska but it will be in August and not on Carnival. I loved the ports but not enough time in each port . I would go to another cruise line for basically the same itinerary but at least 8 or more hours in each port. I wanted to see so much but time was so limited.
  7. I just got back from the Spirit two weeks ago. I have been on many cruises and this was my favorite one. Bring binoculars! Hand warmers Rain gear. I bought two pair of Columbia rain pants and wore them a lot. It was a very relaxed atmosphere maybe 1/4 of the people dressed up for dinner. I never felt it was a full ship everything was spaced out pretty good. When you are sailing to Victoria about 5 hours before you get there is where you have a good chance of seeing orca. We did on ours and the Naturalist will let you know too. I will be going back but not on a cruise because of the time at each port besides Skagway. This was my first time so I didn’t know exactly how I would like it. I LOVED it! I will do a land tour next time to see more of Alaska it was so beautiful and the air was so clean. Lastly if you can buy the excursion Tracy Arm Fjord do it! It was worth every penny and it was my favorite one ever however it was cold so the hand warmers helped. Have fun!!
  8. This was the best cruise I’ve ever taken! I have 17 cruises under my belt. My favorite excursion was the Tracy Arm Fjord. It was worth every penny and I would do it again. I did the whale excursion and really didn’t need to we saw so many whales from the ship including Orcas it was unbelievable. Skagway we opted for an in town tour that included going into the Yukon absolutely gorgeous this was my second favorite on this trip. We even saw a bear! We did the Utv excursion and it was not worth the money we bought it through Carnival. Victoria was stunning! We just walked in town and actually saw 2 deer in someone’s front yard eating flowers. The only negative area is we didn’t have enough time in each port besides Skagway. When I do go back and I will it was that beautiful I will fly into Alaska or go with another cruise line that has longer days in each port.
  9. Thank you for posting the menus.. I will be on this cruise June 27.
  10. Thank you for posting about the Port Valet! I was worried what to do with my luggage after the cruise with a late flight. I’m wondering if this is something I need to do ahead of time like the other cruise lines or just wait I’m also glad there is a naturalist on board too. Did you have to tender the Skagway port? If you don’t mind which excursions did you take? This will be my first time to Alaska and I leave June 26 so thanks again for sharing ..
  11. I’ll be in Alaska in 2 weeks and bought water resistant hikers and some water resistant spray for our back packs. I’m not sure if I’ll need them the whole time but they do say it rains a lot in Alaska so I’ll be prepared. I also bought rain gear pants, jacket and poncho.
  12. I forgot about Victoria, we’ll probably walk around. We booked the steakhouse to on Sunday evening. I will be on outside the majority of the time looking at the scenery. This was a bucket list cruise and I will probably won’t get another chance or offer this good again.
  13. I bought some on the Magic in May. Red Frog and Blue Iguana Tervis.
