  1. Freedom Class is just stretched Voyager Class. I suggest you take B2B 7-night cruises on Liberty of the Seas out of Galveston, TX in 2021. They alternate itineraries, one week to Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan, then the next week to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Falmouth Jamaica. You can tour the Mayan ruins on one visit to Cozumel and go to a beach resort the next.

As a bonus, you can tour the Johnson Space Center (aka Houston Control), which is a 40 minute drive from Galveston, with the kids on the front- or back-end of your cruises making a 16-day Holiday for your family.

  2. My FCC amounts today were exactly half what they should have been. I used the "Got Questions?" link in the email to inform them. I'm not hopeful that anything will come of that, but will give them a chance. I plan to use all of the FCC before final payment for my January cruise, so there's plenty of time to straighten it all out. Our sail date was Monday, May 11.

There has been no new cancellations announced since the last batch a couple weeks ago. This includes all cruises scheduled before, it's either May 10 or 11.  I think Alaska is cancelled through June 30 and there might be a few others. It's all available on their web site. They will probably wait until the last minute before anymore cancellations, hopefully a couple of weeks before the new cancellations are scheduled to leave.

Our May 11 sailing was canceled. Currently May 12 sailings are still active.

Will they transfer the cruise planner credit to your next sailing or is it an open credit?

Looks like the Cruise Planner Credit goes to whatever reservation for which you use your FCC. The Letter from Royal:

If you purchased Cruise Planner Items…

    • You can opt-in to receive an Onboard Credit in the value of 125% of the total Cruise Planner purchases on your reservation.
  5. I'm keeping my reservation for May 11 and I'd sail tomorrow if I could. I'm slightly into the at-risk group: 61 years old and a smoker. But my wife and I are in excellent health and have practiced "safe cruising" for years and have never taken ill during or after a cruise.

For some real data, we should look at what happened on the Diamond Princess. There was a perfect storm for disease and death, yet even though the passengers and crew were unwilling experimental subjects, they have done all cruisers a huge service:

83% did not contract the disease.

Slightly less than half the passengers (48.6%) who got the disease showed NO symptoms.

There were a total of 7 deaths among those on board. All of them were in people over seventy.

So 1.7% died and we know nothing of their pre-existing conditions.

With passenger prescreening, "safe cruising " practices, and a little common sense, the Diamond Princess experiment will never be repeated.

For myself and my wife, we are not scared and will live our lives accordingly. We will also practice "safe citizenship" as we practice safe cruising while at sea.
