  1. Before the guest relation area was closed in there were indeed a few room on the 3rd deck: Before the Pursuit and onward. I believe that those cabins are now crew, but I haven’t checked recently. My last Azamara cruise was a year ago😇
  2. Ear plugs? That doesn’t stop vibration from waking you up but it could mitigate the noise😇
  3. I’ve had damage, so mostly I don’t send things that heat damages. Hubbies polo shirts come back on hangers on Azamara. I’ve had some good experiences but only when I get guest relations to help. But, you are right, if you are fussy don’t bother with things other than cotton underwear! I sent a free pressing once and I still don’t know how they thought a basic man’s white shirt was even close to being pressed.
  4. We got the small bags as I think 21 pieces were being abandoned. Most of the time they were about the same.
  5. You’d be amazed how much you can get in pretty small laundry bags if you roll the laundry. And if half the men’s pants rolled up stick out the top that’s acceptable!
  6. Try the app Windy. It was recommended to us by the Captain as we encounter our second typhoon!
  7. Thanks pacific we had at least 3 lecturers on RCL. One I’d seen on Celebrity in the Caribbean. He has an eclectic set of lectures so very few if any repeats.
  8. there are actually 2 European plugs that are similar. Type E/F which fit well into the recessed outlet on cruise ships and a Type C which is physically smaller and more of what you’d find for where the lamp is plugged in. I’m told that there is a slight difference between the diameter of the pins. Please note that European is a bit of a misnomer as Italy is Type L and the UK is Type G, if I recall correctly. I’ve used the brand Celtic successfully, for many years. For the US they come with 2 places to plug things into, and in sets of three. I liked the extra plug for my small Amazon USB plugin charger.
  9. In general don’t do it! It’s too easy to mess it up even unintentionally. If you want it not to die if you are away perhaps one of the moderators might at least have access if needed?
  10. While I haven’t been in that room specifically, let me give you a feel for the other rooms. l’ve only been in the 2 ocean views, 4047 and 4049. Neither has very much, if any storage space in the bathroom! I don’t believe any had hidden shelves behind a mirror either. I’m not sure there could have been anything one could reach from a chair. There have been other interesting quirks on the Quest and Journey. For example, the bathroom mirror wasn’t high enough for an able bodied companion. I belief that was fixed. And, there is no mirror over the desk in at least one of the rooms so drying your hair was problematic. As I recall the hair dryer was 110v and the plug near the huge mirror near the bed was 220v —- not an easy fix as a voltage converter is necessary for the hair dryer. It’s been a bit of time so hopefully, previous complaints have fixed what can be fixed. Please note, that that huge mirror has enough space for a wheelchair in front of it, I don’t recall if there was enough light to shave there. in one bathroom there was a huge table under the sink, it took me most of the trip to figure out where it had probably been moved from, and it didn’t seem convenient for storing things. As you consider over the door devices like shoe hangers, remember that the robe/towel hooks are fairly low. We had European plug adapters and thoroughly enjoyed having the plugs that had been added bedside. Most of our electronics run on both voltages. Hairdryers, water picks, and electric toothbrush seem to be our only exceptions. As I recall there were also USB plugs in the bottom of both of the lamp.
  11. A travel agent can have access to consolidator rates even if you research first and pick a couple of flights, they can sometimes beat the airline websites!
  12. Jim I hope you can manage without an app! Last time we were on Oceania their policy was enjoy not being tethered to an electronic device! We loved it.
  13. We always travel with adapters. I just have to be sure my electric toothbrush isn’t plugged in with one! We also have a European short power strip, with three outlets. It’s important when we need to plug 2 CPAPs into a single outlet on the bed wall! All of our electronics have bricks that handle both voltages and all of our USB plugs also do both currents. The other most likely problems are curling irons and hairdryer! And don’t even think about a hairdryer that has a switch for the dual voltages —- unless they’ve changed they just slowdown the blower etc. it’s like using the dryer on the lowest settings. I would add that you may need more than one type of adapter depending on where you stay pre or post cruise! And, those called universal don’t include all countries. I did find sets of three adapters that had a simple second outlet.
  14. We were on the Rivera in May 2022. The biggest problem we had was not getting good information about the muster station! It closed before we could find it as we boarded later due to being on later shuttle buses! We actually got different answers in part because the name of the restaurant wasn’t clear either. As I recall our paperwork didn’t match our key or the door, which actually didn’t match either! When we asked at guest relation they just told us not to worry about it, and I assume checked us off. We were schedule again this year, for the Rivera as we wanted to do Luxor, Jordan and Israel!! That was changed just before penalties would have set in. The ship had been pretty FLL.
  15. My very first dinner on MSC I had a steak of some sort. The “gravy” tasted like flour: I.e. it wasn’t really cooked!
  16. You clearly haven’t been on the older RDL ships. I almost took to writing notes to the future cruise people they were 6 feet from the performance area! 😱 seriously I don’t know why anyone would tak those jobs at times!
  17. My Dad and 2nd wife went for the ballroom dancing and the shows. They never or rarely get off the ship! personally I’ve not even seen the pool on the Divina or the meraviglia !
  18. Thats much nicer that I ever got! Best I had was a plastic water bottle.
  19. They told me to bring my own afte I sent a special needs form. What they bring is inconsistent and in small weird containers. On the second to the last night my water chamber was white! Yep, when I wiped at it it was gritty!
  20. While I haven’t been in an Azamara cabin with a connecting door that was kept closed on other ships I’ve found it depends upon who’s in the cabin next to you. One cruise I thought was going to be painful because it seemed the family and visitors were all standing right by the door while talking exuberantly about the beginning of the cruise turned out to be quite quiet. The only times I’ve used interconnecting doors has been on land and they were extremely nice to have! We just used it as an archway between the rooms. To me the nicest connections are on the Celebrity Soltice class because of the way the doors work. The entry way is recessed for individual cabins but becomes used when different doors are used to connect the rooms, adding square footage, slightly. is your question about what happens when you want to use it, or when you will be leaving it closed?
  21. im not sure I’ve ever specified my passport country before booking. I usually have to fill it out afterwards at checkin if not before.
  22. I remember PR stopping issuing certified birth certificates when they discovered too many same names being requested. They were needed to prove the right to vote, for a voter Id when those laws were in turmoil. I never saw what happened afterwards and even knowing the history I never heard the solution. for what it is worth, at that time there was a bit of a mess with the military kids born overseas trying to deal with foreign birth certificates or at least places of birth. Apparently there’s a method to get a us passport but it was having glitches too. sorry to hear you got caught in a newish law that wasn’t on your radar.
  23. i ordered an entree in appetizer size. Something they said they would flay do. The bought an entrée instead! No I didn’t eat it all I ate an appetizer portion, so yes there was food left.
  24. There are quite a few people who have jobs where they burn calories as if they were teens! Right now I have a friend in a physical rehab center that was losing weight on their calorie count, and he actually needs to gain weight from being I’ll. what I’d prefer is that we not be given such huge portions but be allowed a second entree if we are still hungry. Granted I don’t remember MSC having too big of servings but it’s been a while. if I’m charged for a second entree because the first was inedible there will be a very long discussion. And yes, my very first steak on MSC had a gravy on it that wasn’t cooked: it tasted like raw flour!!!
