  1. Since the grats have increased we have scaled back our additional tipping. If our cabin steward goes above and beyond, we will as well. On our last cruise, a b2b that was split between a PV stateroom and a sky suite, we gave additional grats to our cabin stewardess on the non-suite leg. We did not tip beyond the grats for the sky suite. Bottom line, its personal to your own experience and desire to tip or not.
  2. It's possible OP forgot to turn his phone to APM once the ship left the port. I've done that before and once I was far enough out, I received a text from Verizon asking me if I wanted to sign up for an international plan....thus, reminding me to switch to airplane mode.
  3. Now see? My head went immediately to cocktail making with the create and pour event. Never would have thought about it involving art. Sounds interesting, though. But you didn't really like it? Did you walk away with a piece of "art"?
  4. Is this a new thing? DH has AT&T and I have Verizon. Neither of us have even been charged while on the ship in a US port.
  5. These two events are shown at the Elite level of the Captain's Club perks. The Create and Pour is only available on Beyond, Ascent and Apex while the mixology is offered on all of the ships. We've attended the Music and Mixology and have enjoyed the show. Despite being on Ascent for the pre-inaugural cruises, we did not get an invitation to either event. I'm guessing they didn't hold them on the short preview cruises. Have you attended the Create and Pour event? If so, what did it entail and how was it?
  6. Legionnaires disease is not the flu. The flu is a virus and Legionnaires is caused by bacteria and causes pneumonia and can be contracted by vapor in showers, spas or A/C ventilation. I'm not sure Celebrity is in the business of fear porn but informing passengers of potential risks is their job.
  7. Thanks for the heads-up @mac_tlc. We really enjoyed Ascent last November and have Beyond booked for this November. We didn’t book a suite though. After sailing Ascent for the first leg in a porthole balcony and a sky suite the second leg, we felt the first experience was superior to the suite experience. Left us wondering if paying more = better was all in our heads. I do love a suite deal though! So will definitely take a look.
  8. Well thanks, you two! I never noticed the noise before but as one who tends to fixate on annoying noises, I’m sure I will from now on! 😊😎
  9. Is it across the entire fleet of ships or ship specific?
  10. We've always found something to enjoy on the menu. It's the Luminae physical space that we didn't really care for. We like the S class set up much better. E class Luminae is very large and can get quite noisy. The seating is awkward in some areas and since it's located at the front of the ship, the slant of the windows makes that area feel very hot and very bright...despite the shades.
  11. I hear ya! Since you're on deck, you'll have to keep us posted on how she holds up for you! Fingers crossed for smooth sailing 😊.
  12. I tend to look at each cruise independent from another. What happened on one cruise is not guaranteed to happen on the next...this goes for both the good and the bad. I think your cruise will be exactly what you make it! Enjoy.
  13. Thank you for taking time to report on your cruise!
  14. This certainly could be the case but I think it's easy to speculate when one is sitting in the comfort of their home with working electricity, running water, and A/C. As I am in my hot stage of life, loss of A/C for even a few minutes can feel like an eternity.
  15. Have you read this? This seems to corroborate OP's experience.
  16. This is our exact itinerary in November on Beyond! Really excited to join you on this Live from…
  17. Speaking of bars...Ascent and Beyond have a world class bar one deck up from the martini bar that overlooks the entire space. What is located in that area on Edge?
  18. Well that does make sense for drinks like scotch. Question, as I can't remember...can one get 2 drinks on a single card or do you need2 cards to get 2 drinks? If you can get 2 drinks on one card then a double would make sense. I wonder if one could get 2 doubles on a single card.
  19. Hindsight is 20/20 but I don't think I would have said this for the exact reaction you got from the new server. The double pours were likely in hopes of a tip. Most bartenders truly do want to make the passenger happy. From a corporate POV, drinks package or not, pouring doubles means resources are expended twice as fast...and for many, a double would be a waste because it won't get consumed. I've set down countless drinks at different bars because I tried something new and didn't like it...hence a wasted drink. My answer to the question is, I think it's about controlling waste.
  20. We did not have a lobster night on our 6 night Equinox cruise last year. Was told it’s only on 7 nights or longer. I didn’t miss it bc I’m allergic but from recent pics posted, one would need a hand lens to actually find said lobster on the plate. That said, when we were on Ascent we dined in Eden and DH ordered the lobster casserole. It was basically a big pile of lobster meat with a nice looking gravy and some fresh corn. He said it was delicious and served as his lobster fix for the cruise.
  21. I figured it must be a long one. I might have been inclined to pack up and head home but I guess they still have enough of a cruise left to stick it out.
  22. Why? Even if they did all that, they still wouldn't get any love in the media...that part of the story wouldn't get out....except for maybe the part about not being allowed back on NCL..which would make them the bad guys all over. It's a PR nightmare no matter what they do...
  23. Random question but does anyone know how long this cruise was?
  24. My understanding is on S and M class ships you can order off the MDR or the Luminae menus. I'm not aware of the blu menu being included. On S class the Blu dining room is on a different deck and likely has a different kitchen, while Luminae and MDR share a kitchen on the same deck.
  25. If I may offer some constructive feedback, I think you got some push back to your OP because there really wasn't enough information upon which to comment. Were you seeking confirmation from those currently on Ascent? Expressing an opinion or concern about the practice itself? Or calling out FB for maybe posting bad information? It was just difficult to understand what you were asking/seeking. Most users on this board are truly kind and helpful.
