  1. We took the same extension and 100% agree. It was a terrific experience. Here is my writeup: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2906353-almost-live-viking-sky-journey-to-antiquities-jan-2023/
  2. Grabbing popcorn and awaiting @FlyTalker reply
  3. WWC24 is the current promo. Just received the 24/25 WC brochure last week. Expires April 30, but will probably be extended.
  4. You can indeed spend all day at Bletchley. There is also a ham radio shack on the grounds.
  5. I seem to recall you have about 2+ hours of free time in Bruges. Here is a tip for Portsmouth. If you take the included tour, you can ask to be let off at the Historic Dockyards. IMO the Mary Rose exhibit is a must see, as is the tour of Nelson’s flagship Victory. The shuttle stop back to the ship is a short walk from the entrance.
  6. The Expedition ships also have wireless charging areas on the nightstands. Do any Viking Ocean ships have this yet?
  7. The new iPhone has a “fast” charger (more amps) so it uses a different plug on the charger side. Both chargers are compatible, but the old one takes longer to charge. The iPhone side is either lightning or USB-C. USB-C is the new standard and because of EU lawsuits, Apple is eliminating the lightning connector.
  8. FOMO and perceived premium value. Meanwhile on the Expedition ships, every night is lobster night.
  9. Cabins also have USB charging ports. Some tour buses also have USB outlets so bring a charging cable when you go on excursions.
  10. Here’s a tip for fixing the upside down orientation that occurs sometimes on CC photo uploads. If the picture appears wrong, open the photo on your phone, edit it with a rotation, save it, edit it again to the correct orientation, save again, then upload it again. This seems to correct the issue. Not sure why CC confuses the orientation. It might have something to do with the orientation of the camera when the picture was taken and the phone automatically corrects when viewing.
  11. 0 degrees is one reasons for the legend of falling off the edge of the earth. As you approach the equator going south, the North Star disappears and your astrolabe reaches its limit. Without your main way to navigate in the Northern Hemisphere, you were entering the unknown.
  12. There are typically a few special menus during a cruise where they have a theme, usually highlighting something related to the itinerary. There is always a special seafood theme but it’s not predictable. It is usually available in both the World Cafe and Restaurant. For the big end of cruise event, there is a party held on the pool deck.
  13. A clarification. Angora goats produce mohair, Angora wool is produced by rabbits.
  14. At the coop they go into detail about the weaving and show you how to tell that it is hand weaved. The Kurds use a double knot technique and you can observe the process. The weavers attend a state run school to learn the technique. All the rugs have slight flaws and no two are 100% identical but do follow traditional tribal patterns. The wool is all Turkish Angora goat and dyed with natural, traditional dyes. If you purchase one, they have you sign the back and take a picture to ensure what is delivered is the rug you bought. We also have some machine weaved rugs at home and the difference is obvious when you know what to look for.
