Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Not a HAL ship but a sister company, Princess Discovery - Hawaii r/t that ended 3-31-24. We had a "service" dog onboard - evidently on our same deck as we saw it a lot. Sorry, but it was obviously not a real service dog as I saw it various times alone with the man, then alone with the woman, then them together in the Piazza, buffet, laundry room, really just everywhere. I'm not an expert by any stretch but have never heard of a service dog being trained for two different people?! And if it was trained for just one of them, it's a mystery to me how it could signal, let's say, a low glucose level when its "patient" was possibly on a separate deck? I said nothing to the owners but also did not coo over the dog when it was in the laundry with me (as it barked non-stop as others had the nerve to be in its presence). I did share my thoughts with Princess. FWIW, we had a professional service dog on a previous cruise just this year (HAL or Celebrity, can't remember which) and he was a pleasure to watch work with his blind companion. No problem with the real deal but just do not want to see the ship covered up with companion dogs in the future (like I now see everywhere - flights, Lowe's, grocery stores, etc.)
  2. Just my experience, we submitted through Stockperks (uploaded picture of redacted statement), got the auto email from them saying they were processing. We didn't hear anything for 3 days and since we have a tight turn around, I was a bit on edge. This may be the same as sending a direct email, but we went actually went into our Stockperks account and sent a direct message (clicked on Profile and then on Contact us) to inquire about status. We had an email from them within an hour - confirmed, approved or however they word it. Applied the perk as per instructions and our OBC was showing in Princess by the next day.
  3. I think it was $30 each. Only a 7 day cruise and maybe two days in or so. Sorry my memory is not working for me!
  4. Hello! We were on NS Feb 4-11 and had the HIA package. In our experience, no, the Wi-Fi calling did not work with the basic package. We weren't sure if it was "us" or "them," but it just seemed like it was not a strong enough connection. We upgraded to Premium and sure enough, both phones worked like a charm immediately for calls and texts (and Pandora and Sirius, etc.) No doubt it was the connection speed, in our case. FWIW, we also have T-Mobile. I also think Streamium would have been a cool name 😉
  5. Interesting topic - I wondered about this while on the NS earlier this month - which direction to take on the promenade. I looked for signs - nothing. I looked for trends - people were walking both directions. So, I walked several laps one way and then turned to walk several more the other (I walk a fair distance). My reason is because of the morning sun angle. Due to medical condition and associated medication, it's not advisable for me to get a lot of sun. Even wearing heavy duty sunscreen, I of course, still get exposure (Caribbean). I just prefer to not have it all on one side of my bod 😉 As a side note, I walk alone, am agile, flexible and aware so have no trouble going around walkers (with courtesies) on either side. I try to just patiently wait for those that choose to do the 3 across and amble side to side on the small spots. Not a huge deal in the big scheme of things as I know a Bloody Maria is waiting for me after my walk!
  6. Thanks for sharing your recent experience on NS. That's what I expected for a mid season cruise these days but was hoping otherwise.
  7. Very good info and exactly what I wanted to know. Understand that real sale items will most likely be of different regions - not Caribbean - and that's ok. I have more than a few Alaska shirts and have never been north of Vancouver! I'll keep an eye out next week and hope for the best. Thanks, you all are the best on CC!
  8. Getting ready to board the NS this Sunday-unbelievably ready and excited to get onboard! We have noticed that the last few cruises we have been on (HAL, Celebrity, Princess - all longer Caribbean types) have not had the pre-pandemic t-shirt sales that we remember. Just looking for cheap stuff to wear to the MDR - just kidding! Really, for the gym and working out at home. Have they stopped having those types of sales or have we just been on ones that perhaps had supply chain issues? Just curious as to your experiences. TIA!
  9. Just curious, is it possible to order these with Ocean Now?
  10. FWIW, I just went to their website, chose a random Caribbean cruise for November, and up popped the usual tabs - including the Flight Quotes button. Duplicated the process with an Alaska cruise for next summer with same results. I hope the agent you talked to was wrong and this is not a "feature" that is being rolled out. Holland America works that way (no air options until booked), and I hate it.
  11. Hi all. I've seen some references made indicating the sugar free desserts contain aspartame. Just curious, is it certain they contain specifically aspartame or maybe this term is being used as a catch all for sugar substitutes? The reason I ask is because I can eat that, but I can't have any sugar alcohols at all - it's a gut thing. I never get them (sf desserts) onboard as I was not sure what substitute they used (and real sugar doesn't bother me, except for the extra calories!) I will ask onboard in the future but just wondering if others had already confirmed this. Thanks!
  12. Thank you both for your responses. I'll send it all out immediately and hope for the best! Cruise NH, I'll try my best with the packing tip 😉
  13. Hi all! I'm packing for our NA cruise leaving on Sunday (over the top excited!) and try as I might, I know some of my DH's stuff will be wrinkled. I already bought the pressing package in preparation. A few of his things he will need for dinner the next evening. My question is, would it be best for me to send those few items out immediately after boarding and wait to send the rest afterwards? Or does the quantity I send effect the turn around time at all? I guess my mileage may vary, but any advice/experience you may want to share is appreciated. TIA
  14. florida_gal_50 and kazu - thanks for the response. I figured it might only be the Pinnacle but was hoping others might have been opened a day or two as well. Thanks again and have a great rest of your weekend!
