  1. What would the temperature be? Heading south should be fairly warm, I think??
  2. You go, Lois! Let me know how Silverseas and Azamara compare!
  3. Yes, the Shadow. Does Crystal do repositioning/trans ocean for about the same price and amenities? It must stop in more ports, too, I imagine? This one is just Maderia and Lisbon.
  4. I'm doing the 13 day transatlantic next March, which means a lot of sea days(I'm fine with that) as a solo and got in for under $5,000 with free airfare, transfers, etc. But if you like a lot of ports, this wouldn't be your cup of tea. I am going for the relaxation and superb service they promise.
  5. What is considered 'maiden'? Will this be a brand new ship or just the first time it has crossed the Atlantic?
  6. Just booked for March, 2020, from Ft. Lauderdale to Lisbon transatlantic 13 days. This is on Silverseas Shadow and includes airfare, transfers, gratuities, alcohol, butler, 6-star service. 8 total sea days(which I love). Total cost $4,680. Must pay in full by the end of the month. 0% solo charge. Check it out!
  7. What does Crystal usually offer for solos? That's how I travel.
  8. What is the policy on transatlantic cruises for smokers? Hopefully, away from non-smokers. Maybe just in the casino?
  9. That is exactly what happened to me! I had 3 Carnival cruises with about 4-5 thousand people on board, I tried a Viking river cruise, BIG difference! I booked another river cruise(with Scenic) for this May, a HAL in August to Alaska(less than 2,000 folks), and a Silversea in March 2020. Smaller and more luxurious eac trip is my plan!
  10. Be open, flexible, and able to roll with the punches. Sign up for your roll call on this forum(or any other that may be out there), introduce yourself and be ready for anything.Join trivia, go up to the sports place, talk to people next to you in line. You get the picture!
  11. Thanks to you I found out about Silversea. And now I am booked on a 0% supplement trip next March! It is a 13 day transatlantic with free air for under $5,000. Super excited!
  12. Well, it will be great to meet you! 13 months seems like a llllooooonnnngggg way off, though. We can 'keep up' with each other on these boards, if that's OK.
  13. Well, you all convinced me!! Just signed up for a March 2020 trans oceanic 13 day cruise on the Shadow!! Got free round trip air, 0% single supplement, plus a $200 OBC. All for les than $5,000. Only drawback was that I did have to pay in advance, but I'm OK with that. Thanks for the encouragement!
  14. This is the info I needed to see from a veteran solo SS cruiser! All of this(plus other poster's comments) make me want to sign up right now. I have to wait til 2020, though, because I have 2 cruises lined up already this year. An 8-day Rhine river cruise in May then a15-day Alaskan one in August. I am going to read up as much as possible about SS to be informed and therefore end up being a respectful and satisfied cruiser.
