  1. That will work. You just use the same login for both devices.
  2. The only real concrete info available so far is more technical than guest facing: CELEBRITY CRUISES’ NEXT EDGE-SERIES SHIP BRINGS NEW FLEX FUEL ENGINE TO INDUSTRY Royal Caribbean Group’s new ship will be at the forefront of alternative fuel use thanks to partnership with technology group Wärtsilä and shipyard Chantiers de L’Atlantique MIAMI, March 28, 2023 – When Celebrity Cruises introduces the fifth ship in the revolutionary Edge Series, it will feature the collaborative efforts of its parent company Royal Caribbean Group, technology group Wärtsilä and shipyard Chantiers de L’Atlantique (CdA) to advance the use of alternative fuels for the cruise industry. The ship continues the innovation that debuted with the Edge Series but will also be equipped with a new engine model, along with storage and delivery systems, that will give unmatched fuel flexibility, with the ability to use three types of fuel, including methanol. “As we innovate our ship design and offerings, we’re also focused on equally evolving the fuel and technology landscape that powers them," said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group. “By incorporating tri-fueled engines, we are ensuring that as alternative, low-carbon-based solutions become more viable, our ships will be ready to adapt and drive the industry forward to a more sustainable and net zero emissions future.” “With the launch of our Edge Series of ships in 2018, we set ambitious sustainability goals to make these ships the most energy efficient large vessels at sea,” said Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff- Perlo. “Working collaboratively with our partners, we have continued to develop new technologies and achieve breakthroughs with each subsequent ship.” To allow for the ship’s fuel flexibility, Wärtsilä will deliver two converted 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 46F engines to allow them to utilize three fuel sources, including methanol. These changes not only advance carbon- free cruising, but by adding methanol as a fuel option, local emission like sulphur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter are significantly reduced. “Wärtsilä has invested heavily into researching viable future carbon neutral fuels for the marine industry, and methanol has emerged as one of the most promising candidates. This will be the second methanol-fueled engine conversion that we have undertaken, and the first with the Wärtsilä 46F engine. We share the commitment to decarbonize shipping, and the transparent partnership between our three companies for this newbuild project is a tremendous boost for achieving this aim,” says Håkan Agnevall, President and CEO of Wärtsilä. The order for the engines was included in Wärtsilä’s order book in January 2023 and the full scope includes two 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 46F engines capable of operating with methanol as fuel, two 12- cylinder Wärtsilä 46F engines, and one Wärtsilä 32 engine. Wärtsilä will convert the 46F engines to run on methanol at the yard, prior to commissioning.
  3. Two more recent leadership shakeups in the industry in the past few days. Michael Thamm left his role at CEO of the Costa Group (which did happen abruptly) leaving the presidents of Costa and AIDA reporting directly to the Carnival Corp CEO. The US big three all have new leadership at the top since 2022. A lot of these changes have occurred since the beginning of 2023: Richard Fain - left the Royal Caribbean Group Frank del Rio - left Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Arnold Donald - left Carnival Corp Michael Thamm - left Costa Group Lisa Lutoff Perlo - left Celebrity Cruises Roberto Martinolo - left Silversea Cruises Howard Sherman - left Oceania Jason Montague - left Regent Josh Leibowitz - left Seabourn Although not a departure, Norwegian Cruise line will have a new president and John Padgett is fairly new to his role at Princess (2021).
  4. So it’s safe to say we should be prepared for a half dozen users to be very dissatisfied with the new CEO before she even starts 🤣 They won’t like her, her business or the ships, but will pop in with opinions (or self created facts) once an hour. And still claim to book cruises. Happy sailing!
  5. Edge #5 (Vertex or Excel...hopefully not Excel) is slated for sometime in 2025. Nothing after that. However, with a new CEO that has a lot of involvement in product development, the next series may not be that far away. The first Solstice ship was laid in March 2007, Edge was laid in November 2016 so the 10ish year rotation (maybe add some time for financial recovery) is potentially not all that far off.
  6. 👍 As they say, out with the old, in with the new. Harsh reality for some, but that's how it goes. Remember all the complaints on here that Oasis class would be the end of Royal Caribbean? There was no way they could survive that monstrosity? It was a massive failure before it even launched? Well...
  7. Some interesting perspective. Some ignorant perspective. Some WAG passed as fact. In reality she's a 65 (66 at retirement) year old who is wrapping up a 40 year career with the past 3 years being undoubtedly a bigger sh!tshow than anyone would have ever imaged prior to Feb 2020. Things are finally returning to some sense of normalcy and she can exit in a much more calm environment and finally have time to fully enjoy retirement and the sizable amount she has earned.
  8. The cruise docs for your upcoming cruise should have a page towards the end pertaining to Future Cruises.
  9. Some serious COVID burnout at the top? Since early 2022 Richard Fain left RGC, Arnold Donald left Carnival Corp, Frank Del Rio is leaving NCL Holdings, Lisa Lutoff Perlo leaves Celebrity, Roberto Martinoli left Silversea (but stayed with RCG in a similar capacity to LLP), and both Regent and Oceania have new presidents.
  10. The category and/or the entire cruise is near capacity. The TA scenario isn’t very accurate. TA’s do not hold specific cabins and for a cruise in June their inventory that was held but not sold by them has already been forfeited.
  11. It's C.O. Bigelow Lavender Peppermint. The stuff you can buy in stores and online does smell quite a bit different than what they have onboard.
  12. You can definitely just select your check-in time then go back later to complete the other steps.
  13. IMO the ones that make exhaustive lists are just seeing how far they can push it. Do have a conversation when you meet on day one. Sometimes if you don't give them anything or any feedback they think something is wrong. I make it clear we too are pretty low maintenance. A snack, a specific drink in the refrigerator, etc. maybe a standing coffee order in the morning is our usual request.
  14. After having spent quite a bit of time on both in the last year, I would choose Beyond even if its just for something new and fresh. The difference in the balcony is not an issue for me. Both have their pros and cons.
  15. My choice would also be deck 7 due to the balcony design which is different than deck 7 on Edge and Apex.
  16. You can usually Google the dates or check Facebook to see if there is a large group organized. Other smaller groups, incentive groups, etc. you usually won't find anything. Tip...don't search the term 'partial charter' because that isn't a thing. It's either a group or a full ship charter. One or the other.
  17. I've followed Edge class since it was announced and am fairly certain this idea was made up here on Cruise Critic. One of the only substantive search results I can find is the resident CC expert disputing there is likely any fact to this statement. The same cabin design is now present on many other ships aside from Celebrity and this concept still never surfaces.
  18. Prices will not vary much at all on these two cruises from what Celebrity is offering directly. There may be a small savings on concierge through some TA's but that's about the best you will find.
  19. The odds are greatly in favor of running into an obnoxious passenger versus an obnoxious vlogger...
  20. I own part of a company that plans luxury travel. There are a lot of people who travel in a manner where $20k doesn’t come close to covering airfare alone. I don’t know what all of our clients do but we definitely do not have a shortage of business. During spring break season this year a family of five going to Maui in a condo, not a high end resort, plus air would hit $20k very easily before any other expenses. The tech/finance/medical clients sometimes approach closer to seven figure budgets. There is definitely no shortage of people willing to spend.
  21. The CS definitely has more open floor space in the main cabin but the bathroom may be a problem. It’s very tight. I prefer the SS bathroom over the CS. Both have the tub/shower combo that you would have to step in to. Watch some YouTube videos to get a better idea.
  22. There is a two week gap between Oct 14 and Oct 30. I wouldn't expect to see anything substantially different.
  23. No, you will automatically be put in A1-A15. You still need to check in but it doesn’t matter when you do it. You still complete check in but it doesn’t make any difference when you do it.
  24. No question it would be Eden for me. The whole steak house concept isn't very exciting or unique.
  25. T29 is one that is not exclusively used by any one line. HAL uses 29 frequently this season. Many of the terminals have exclusive use agreements (like you won't see Princess using T25, the updated T4 will be Disney only, etc.) Just because one terminal is open on a given day doesn't mean another cruise line can jump in there because it's convenient. Port Everglades Terminal 2: Princess Cruise Lines Port Everglades Terminal 4: Disney Cruise Line Port Everglades Terminal 18: Royal Caribbean Port Everglades Terminal 19: Holland America Line Port Everglades Terminal 21: Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Princess Cruise Lines Port Everglades Terminal 25: Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean Port Everglades Terminal 26: Holland America Line Port Everglades Terminal 29: Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, Royal Caribbean
