Thank so much everybody. Very helpful and now feeling a bit more enthusiastic about this Port of call.

Thank you. We are there on the 6th. So is there an independent shuttle from the port into town?
Didnt know about the Makybe Diva statue so that is now on our list.
As we have left it so late to book anything we were thinking the 1.5hour ships tour of just a drive around town. This is $60 each. Is there anything offered independently at the port?

Hi.
Any suggestions for this port of call? Golden Princess in January.
thank you.
-
Thanks for your replies. Will plan to leave room by 8.30 and ship by 10am.

It was sold as a 3 and a 6 night cruise and we are getting off after 3. Just wondering if we can stay on the ship for late breakfast and possiable even lunch. (We will only have a small case to carry around)

We are on the Golden Princess in January and took the option of leaving the cruise in Adelaide after 3 nights. That particular cruise sails for another 3 nights and finishes in Melbourne.
Can anyone tell me how long we are allowed to stay on the ship? I realize that we will have to leave our cabin by the standard time.
Thank you

We had already booked on Jewel for Feb on what is now one of its last cruises. We have cruised many times and have only chosen this cruise for its dates - just a quick break in a busy schedule.
Given that P & O is usually around a 3 star rating could we expect less on one of its last voyages? Thoughts?

You could always park for free at the Ballarat train station and then catch the train straight to Melbourne. Very easy to get tram from Southern Cross to Port.

I agree - it would be great to see more cruise lines embark from Melbourne. Whilst P & O & Princess have a few itineries to chose from the ships are older. I would like to see some of the newer and high end ships embark from Melbourne.

I have been watching a 4 night P & O cruise - Sydney to Moreton Island on 4th Feb 18. It never had appeared in any of the P & O sales despite every cruise around the same time doing so. Any ideas why?

Wondering if anyone knows where Pacific Explorer is likely to leave from in Feb 5 2018 - Circular Quay or White Bay? Just planning the rest of our little trip. Thank you

We did the Western Med cruise on NCL last year and used Rome in a Limo at our Italian ports. We were able to plan our day to suit our needs and were able to maximize the highlights. We definitely want to return and spend extra time in Italy but we got to see so many amazing places in just one day.
We would definitely recommend a balcony for the Med. The Med and its ports are just wonderful.

We tried when we went NCL in October (Mediterranean) but it was only available to US I think. My husband didn't qualify. We get it on P &O each time though.

The lady 3 cruises we have done we have taken off our own luggage in the morning rather than leave it out the night before. Each time we have just woken up and walked off the ship when we were ready. We haven't had any issues.

We we were in Marseille in October on NCL and used the NCL arranged shuttles at a cost. We both agreed that if we were ever in Marseille again we would grab a cab instead. We worked out it would be slightly cheaper and even more so if we took another couple. It would have also offered us a bit more flexibility with time etc. We had long waits for the shuttle etc.

If you aren't dedicated NRL fans, definitely choose another cruise (at any cost, LOL). It is full on rugby league, with loads of yobbos that, if I had a 16yo daughter, I would NOT like her being around.
I agree. We were on a P & O cruise in 2015 when a State of origin game was on. The day of the game and the day after was full on with supporters of both sides over doing it. If you are not interested I would change.
If P&O have changed the schedule I would ring them, be very polite and ask for a no cost transfer. They are usually accommodating in matters like this.

Definitely a coffee maker in the cabin.

We sailed on Epic last week and the bowling alley is next to O'Sheehans. Still there
-
We also just got off the Epic today and have had a wonderful week. This was not our first cruise and we enjoy freestyle cruising as just want to relax.
The entertainment was fantastic - we did all the shows and highly reccomend them all. The food was good in all the restaurants and the staff were wonderful.
We organized our own private shore tours as the NCL tours were way too expensive.
I agree with other posters that the only thing bad about the cruise is hearing people complaining or being rude to the wonderful staff.

Great review. We are sailing in October so very helpful for us! Thank you

On our cruise it was probably about 60% got in the spirit. You don't have to go full Gatsby or full white. A touch of something adds to the fun though.

On board we only use cash on the cruise card. We just load up our allocated budget onto the card. If we need more we just take it out of the onboard atm on board and load up some more. The night before we leave we just go to reception and get refunded any money still on the card. Easy.

Yes. You can just turn up and as long as all your party are with you , you will be given a table. Occasionally there is a wait but they will give you a buzzer

Just an update from our day in Port Lincoln. We had a fantastic day and can’t wait to come back and explore more. We took it easy and didn’t do a lot but for other who may be interested we walked from the ship into town (about 15 minutes) and enjoyed the markets that were set up. The stalls were well stocked with varied products and were doing a roaring trade as were the shops along the waterfront. There were a couple of really good clothes and shoe shops that I personally enjoyed whilst my husband waited on the park bench admiring the Matthew Flinders statue.
We admired the Makybe Diva statue and then strolled back to the ship.
The weather was spectacular & the atmosphere was fantastics including the brass band greeting us on the pier and the acrobatic plane.
Everyone we spoke to had a great day and also said they would return.
