  1. Use the airport transfer. I know it’s not the first choice but it saves your taxi cost.
  2. Though I realize that is the advice, I am in the same town as the OP and have flown to FLL numerous times in recent years. As stated above it is quite a bit cheaper to use one airport over the other and to use Southwest from that airport. Those flights fill very quickly. If I am going to FLL I mark my calendar for opening day and book asap. It is just a fluke of the market.
  3. I am not sure what you mean. I said I prefer the rim cruises, the survey was about grand voyages not exclusively world voyages. 🤷‍♀️
  4. I have never paid $50 per day for HIA. At that price it doesn’t work for me. For some cruises I have gone without HIA as the price never dropped but on other cruises I have paid very little for HIA. YMMV
  5. I use google maps for my own routes. I have found some very unique walks by locals on Alltrails. People think alltrails is only for rural walks but they have many, many urban walks.
  6. I usually book a refundable hotel one year out. Being in Dallas I prefer to fly from Love Field - first Southwest does not charge a luggage fee, from Richardson an Uber is only $25 with the tip, and it is a lot closer than messing with DFW. My last Uber to DFW was $75 plus tip. I usually book, with points, a SWA FLIGHT when the booking opens - about 6-9 months out. If you want to do something now, apply for a SWA credit card to get the bonus points which will cover your fares to FLL
  7. We did receive the survey and I agree - I have never been that interested in the equator cruises. I would much rather do the northern Pacific or northern Atlantic rims.
  8. They must be starting to post the schedule
  9. For most things I use a small water spritz bottle to remove wrinkles. It works very well
  10. There is still water in a flip top can, that is on the package on all ships. There are sparkling waters in glass bottles and those are included. The type that is in question is the screw top 12 ounce bottle of still water
  11. I don’t know what the hold up is. We want a Transatlantic to get to our other destinations
  12. I am glad that it worked out. I was able to do a booking with FCD and have my agent do it also. I screenshot her my credits page. Maybe it was again the currency issue that prevented your efforts I have had issues with HAL trying to grab my entire bank of credits instead what is required.
  13. Be sure you are signed in to see any discounts you qualify for and like @rodndonnasaid you may have to go to the final page before you see the final discount. As always you have to call for the advantage fare which is refundable deposit without HIA
  14. That sounds very tight, if anything goes wrong you will miss your flight.
  15. If given a complimentary dinner I often do first night especially if I have been independently traveling. After a week or so of road food I am happy to have a nice dinner. I simply stop by the MDR at embarkation and tell them I will be out that night.
  16. I knew you were but I really am a bit of a crazed road tripper.
  17. The ship details time of departure and the time the all aboard time. If tendering they will inform the last tender time. How generous the leeway is up to the Captain. If he is trying to outrun bad weather or other condition he may not be generous at all
  18. It doesn’t have to be that way. When we get together in 2024 we can talk. My plan actually pays me back some of the Medicare premium, next year in total between the government and the insurance company I will be paying $40. That is not a subsidized rate, I don’t qualify for any subsidies.
  19. I have never seen a lot of advantage. You can call early, pay for the ticket and then request they go ahead and ticket. Doing so allows you to manage your flight from the airline website. I think people do this as they are fearful for a fare hike but in all of my years using flight ease that has never occurred nor have I seen it mentioned on the forum.
  20. Not Alaska but Dallas to Vancouver and Dallas to Prince Edward Island. Those were my furthest trips with multiple others into upper US, also Quebec, northern Ontario. I still have not driven to the Yukon nor Northwest Territories. Alaska would be done by ferry if I were to do it
  21. If you don’t foresee wanting to change in case there is a fare drop you can request it be ticketed. Before you do be sure to edit the information to include frequent flyer info and other details. This will help it link to your airline account and make it easier for you to manage your flight details - seats, meals, in case there is a schedule change and so on.
  22. There is truth in that but there are also people who are hyper vigilant because they have compromised immune systems due to illness, medications or age.
  23. It depends on how long you are going to wait and if it is a domestic or international departure. Flights start getting expensive if you get too close to the date. If you can drive to port and are willing to take a risk why not? I wait but only for cruises that are not top priority and I can drive to. I can drive to Galveston, New Orleans or Mobile and with enough time anywhere on the continental US and have.
