Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Made it with our bags many hours later. Hitting Cuban for dinner. Yum! 😋
  2. That’s our ship! If we can ever get out of ATL to FLL 😂
  3. The black and white portraits will be very expensive. A USB of all photos taken the whole trip by the regular photographers would likely be cheaper.
  4. Waiting out the big weather system hitting Florida right now in the sky club at ATL. Hope we and our luggage make it to FLL together today!
  5. Unlike the other large ships, the Rotterdam has an enclosed library with some comfy chairs with blankets to read or watch out the windows. It’s lovely! 💕 Also a fan of the couch pods above the lido pool area. Those are on all the biggest class, not just the Rotterdam. Verandah’s on any ship are great for getting alone time outdoors. But as far as I know all ocean view and above room types have at least a small personal couch to sit on in private indoors. Not sure about interiors… those vary more in size/shape. You might also like the thermal suite. We’ve always paid the extra for that and love relaxing there reading or napping on a what I call a ‘warming tray’ — a shaped heated ceramic lounger with a view of the sea. Divine!
  6. The dressy nights didn’t show in our app for our June cruise until we were onboard.
  7. Rijsttafel night at Tamarind was a highlight of our trip (summer 2022). Highly recommend! Definitely worth the price. And feel free to ask for more of anything you particularly like after you try the assortment you're brought.
  8. I’m still curious what the price of a water is on board if anyone knows.
  9. What’s the current price on board for the water in the reclosable aluminum bottles? Trying to decide if I should buy the 12-pack for $49.56 or just buy by the bottle on board for taking on excursions. I’ll also have my own refillable bottle for at sea, but it can be nice when going ashore to be able to toss the bottle when done.
  10. Some very kind and patient ladies taught us mahjong on our Hawaii cruise. They were so delighted my husband wanted to learn! He got me to come join in after a couple days. We’ve played each cruise since… usually teaching someone we were hanging out with onboard rather than trying to keep up with the more experienced players. I hope to see it on the schedule in January on the zaandam!
  11. I was able to on my last HAL cruise (June 2022). I think it was a few weeks out from sailing.
  12. It felt worth it to us at a much higher price per share. But only do it if you’ve got the money to burn—any stock is a gamble. We bought as part of our high risk allocation of my husband’s Roth IRA.
  13. I would do the package if you can get it at have it all pricing. You’ll have a fridge, so just grab a canned, sealed beer or two anytime you head to your room. Ask the steward to empty the minibar in the room so that you can do this. If you can’t get have it all pricing, then load up on those room drinks on happy hour.
  14. Up to two gala nights. Usually two. Your boarding pass will say how many. The Navigator app won’t reflect them until you’re onboard, unfortunately. yes he’ll be dressy enough. No need for a tie unless you want him to wear one 😉 yes he can change back into shorts after dinner. Mine always does. The long pants required dress code is just for the sit-down restaurants.
  15. I like getting flowers for the room via HAL. I get the Anniversary package—flowers and photo credit. They have been very good quality in my experience. But I also carried on flowers in Hawaii, so that’s an easy option, too. Delivery to the pier on a stop should work if you call the florist directly. I wouldn’t try it at one of the huge departure ports.
