I understand the concept of both cruiseline's version of "ship within a ship" having sailed both. I was commenting on the fact that bad behavior like the things you mentioned absolutely occur in these more expensive and more exclusive areas of the ship like the Retreat, Haven and YC. Have a lovely weekend.

Off the Seashore YC 01/07 - 01/18 a few observations

Thanks for the pics and the reply! π -
Money doesn't buy class. We have sailed many times in the Haven on NCL and the Retreat on Celebrity. On every sailing we have encountered someone coughing and sneezing without covering their mouth. Same with dishes being in the hallway and smoking on the balcony. Don't RSVP to the party that you think is beneath you (your choice) but don't be delusional about MSC. All of that behavior happens in the YC as well.

What is the YC area like on Ocean Cay? Are cabanas available? Thanks! -
We were on the Beyond last week the deck party was called the Cosmic Night Deck Party or something like that. They suggested wearing silver, pewter, sequins. We saw women in silver sequin dresses, skirts and tops. All white outfits seemed popular too.

We just got off Beyond today and show times were 7 and 9 in the theater.

We have been NCL Haven fans for years. We still are, but wanted to try Celebrity Retreat and MSC Yacht Club. In a couple of months, we will be in a Royal Suite on the Beyond, then a couple of months later a Deluxe Suite on the Seashore. It will be interesting to compare the three cruise lines in terms of food, entertainment and service. This thread has me really looking forward to the MSC cruise in the Yacht club.

General population. Is that what people who are not sailing in a YC suite really called? Wow. -
Typical NCL Haven cruiser. Looking for Retreat tips

Again, thanks for starting this thread.π Thanks to those that responded with great insight. I did enjoy the perks of the Haven, especially on our last cruise that was extremely crowded. It will be nice to try the Celebrity experience (in my case the Beyond) and explore the entire ship as well as have the Retreat to relax and dine in. Just like you said. On our last NCL cruise outside the Haven felt so chaotic, long lines and limited seating everywhere. -
Typical NCL Haven cruiser. Looking for Retreat tips

Thank you to the OP for starting this thread. I had similar questions about the Celebrity perks. Our last three cruises have been on NCL in the Haven. Obviously we like the product, but wanted to try Celebrity Retreat. We are booked in a Sky suite on the Beyond. Will our butler escort us to shows and on and off the ship when in port? I always enjoyed seeing the Haven butler waiting for us and being able to bypass the line to get back on the ship in port. Do we get daily snacks delivered? Can you make special requests in Luminae that aren't on the menu? We had a suite in the Haven proper, is it a much different experience with the majority of suites being outside of the Retreat area on Celebrity? Thanks for any insight. -
Our last three cruises have been on NCL ships Jade, Breakaway, and Getaway all in the Haven. We have enjoyed the food, service and the rest of the suite perks along with the casual feel of NCL and the great entertainment. Escape would be a good choice if we wanted another cruise of the same feel and experience. Looking at possibly trying something different such as Celebrity Beyond. The ship looks amazing! NCL Viva also looks beautiful but so many reviews of the sister ship Prima are quite bad. Anyone sailed Celebrity or Prima and care to offer an opinion? Or should we just go with what we know and love and do the Escape? Itineraries on all three are fairly similar. We would drive to any of the ports fairly easily, but Escape would be shortest distance to Port Canaveral. Thanks!

Hi, I didn't think the Escape had Syd Norman's? On the NCL website it says the ship has a Cavern Club. We are comtempating booking Escape. Thanks.

Thanks for your input. Funny you mention not staying in the Haven proper...last time we were on the Breakaway in an aft Haven suite. While the suite and huge balcony were amazing, we wanted to try being close to all the amenities of the Haven this time so we are in a penthouse on Deck 16. Thanks again!

All of this talk of kids taking over the Haven and cookie fights has me a bit worried. Especially with what the Haven costs. We are on a May 20th sailing, never sailed in May before. Think the ship will have a lot of kids? Thanks

Just got off the NCL Getaway 12 nights! Observations

I understand where they were. The point is, if you get up and dance does that mean the chairs you put your personal items on are your property to own for the entire night? The answer is no. As someone else said, a version of the infamous "chair hogging". -

I have been following along on this great adventure. Is Sid going to pay a visit to Syd's? As in Syd Norman's Pour House. -
Hi, when you say "one of the perks of the Haven" does that mean you are allowed into Syd's before the doors officially open? Does your Butler need to escort into the venue? Thanks for a great review! We are in Haven Courtyard Penthouse in May.
