I think the eventual replacement for Splendor is Panorama. But that's at least 10-15 years down the road.
I could see that happening around 2039-2042. Splendor (2008) would presumably be up for retirement, and that would give Panorama (2019) about a decade to work in Oz.

As of right now, nothing has changed other than the ownership of the ships (within the Carnival family). Carnival has owned P&O Australia for a while. You can think of it as more of a "Carnival wanting to have the most ships" type of thing. That said, who knows what down the road will happen. Those two ships could sail to a lot of places (other than down under) that MANY Carnival ships cannot do...
I really would not expect those ships to move to the US barring the Australian cruise market just tanking. Both Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter are in their mid-twenties already. The consolidation is really about cutting costs shoreside by not maintaining two mainstream cruise brands for a country with less than 1/10 the population of the US.
What the consolidation does afford in terms of deployment is another market to which to send currently US-deployed ships in the twilight of their careers. I would expect the Australian fleet to turnover completely in the 2030s. There may be an opportunity to consolidate the number of vessels, i.e. Vista-class or even Excel-class replacing the two ships in Sydney.

My own company brought in a COO from outside after having a stream of long term "move up the ladder" types promoted from within and it was the best thing we ever did. Sure there's something to be said about knowing the inner workings and maybe working your way from the ground up but large companies like this also benefit from a fresh outside view too.
At the end of the day Carnival Corp basically operates ~92 floating resorts. Bringing in someone with hotel experience isn't a huge departure. Given the increased importance of private destinations ashore, having someone with a shoreside hotel background can be useful. Carnival also has a Chief Maritime Officer, so there is a whole department handling the "floating" part.

We once had a wonderful cruise on the Fascination out of San Juan. Our TA tried to warn us off because the old ship lacked "bells and whistles". But as I said, we had a wonderful time with fine ports, great other passengers, and lots and lots of dancing which especially made DW happy.
Commission is a percentage of the fare, so on average, travel agents make more when you book newer ships that have higher fares.

Weather Alert | Post-Tropical Cyclone Milton
POST-TROPICAL CYCLONE MILTON
WEATHER UPDATE – OCTOBER 10, 2024 | 9:00 PM (ET)
Our Fleet Operations Center in Miami continues to monitor Milton, which has now downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone as it moves eastward in the Atlantic. The safety of our guests and crew remains our priority and our ships are sailing a safe distance from the storm. The following homeports and itineraries are currently under watch:
HOMEPORT WATCH & ITINERARY CHANGES
JACKSONVILLE – The port is now closed.
- Carnival Elation 10/05/2024 – The ship is now sailing a safe distance from the storm while we wait for clearance to return to Jacksonville. Due to strong winds and rough seas on Florida’s east coast, we will not be able to return before sometime Saturday, October 12.
- Carnival Elation 10/10/2024 – We are now planning to operate this voyage as a 2-day cruise, departing Saturday, October 12. Given the shortened duration, there will be no port visit. An email has been sent with additional information, including your options. To stay up to date, please sign up for text alerts by texting CCL1 to CRUISE (278473).
TAMPA – The port is currently closed.
- Carnival Paradise 10/06/2024 – The ship will be docking in Miami tomorrow, Friday, October 11. Guests will have the option to return to the Tampa cruise terminal via complimentary shuttle or reboard the ship and remain onboard until Monday, October 14. We plan to disembark in either Port Canaveral (complimentary shuttle service to Tampa would be provided) or Tampa (provided the port reopens).
- Carnival Paradise 10/10/2024 – This voyage is cancelled, and a full refund is being issued. Please see our email for details.
- Carnival Paradise 10/14/2024 – This voyage will be embarking in either Port Canaveral (complimentary shuttle service would be provided between Tampa and Port Canaveral) or Tampa (provided the port re-opens by then). Ahead of the cruise, an email will be sent with more information. To stay up to date, please sign up for text alerts by texting CCL7 to CRUISE (278473).
PORT CANAVERAL – The port is now closed.
- Carnival Glory 10/07/2024 – The vessel is sailing a safe distance from the storm. We will not be able to return to Port Canaveral Friday, October 11. We are planning to dock Saturday, October 12, once clearance is received.
- Carnival Glory 10/11/2024 – This voyage will not depart Friday, October 11, and we are hopeful we will be able to operate with a shortened duration, starting Saturday, October 12. An email has been sent with additional information, including your options. We will provide more details about embarkation, following the reopening of the port and completion of a post-storm assessment. To stay up to date, please sign up for text alerts by texting CCL5 to CRUISE (278473).
MIAMI – The port is currently open, but marine operations are limited due to unfavorable weather conditions offshore.
- Carnival Sunrise 10/05/2024 – The vessel is sailing a safe distance from the storm. We are planning to dock Friday, October 11.
- Carnival Sunrise 10/10/2024 – This sailing will not depart Thursday, October 10, but we will sail a shortened duration voyage, starting Friday, October 11. The ship will visit the originally planned ports of call, but port times may vary. An email has been sent with more information about operational plans and your options. Guest should proceed to PortMiami for embarkation according to their pre-selected terminal arrival appointments. All sailing guests must be on board by the final boarding time printed on the boarding pass. To stay up to date, please sign up for text alerts by texting CCL3 to CRUISE (278473).
ITINERARY CHANGES (WITHOUT HOMEPORT IMPACT)
- Carnival Pride 10/06/2024 – The ship visited Bermuda and is now on the way back to Baltimore.
- Carnival Sunshine 10/07/2024 – The ship is now sailing on a 5-day voyage. The return to Charleston may be delayed as we navigate a safe distance from the storm.
- Carnival Sunshine 10/12/2024 – Please do not proceed to the cruise terminal until you have received confirmation from us on operational plans for your cruise. To stay up to date, please sign up for text alerts by texting CCL6 to CRUISE (278473).
We will post another update by 3:00 PM (ET), Friday, October 11, 2024.

am booked on the Magic for oct 13- haven't heard anyghting although Carnival's web does have a 3pm & 8pm updates
There probably won't be any impacts to Magic as Milton will be out of Florida sometime today. The ship is in St. Thomas right now, so it's far enough south not to be in Milton's way.
The only potential complication would be PortMiami not reopening Friday, but I would imagine the Port would try to keep that from affecting Sunday's departures.
Just keep checking Carnival's site. Once PortMiami reopens that will allow Carnival to determine impactd for upcoming sailings. For anyone flying into Miami (or any other Florida port) check with the airline as there will be impacts nationwide from all of the disruption that will take days to work out.

Looks like Royal is buying the port. Will Carnival still sail there or be allowed (looks like cruises are still scheduled through 2027)? Not sure how Carnival would feel giving money directly to a competitor if they can still go. Makes me wonder if they will be on the lookout for their own piece of Mexican real estate.
I only remember going there once in 2006 (or 2007) before Hurricane Wilma destroyed it and wasn't too impressed.
Royal Caribbean Blog covered this on a video on their YouTube channel that was released yesterday. Non-Royal Caribbean Group lines will still be able to dock there, but only Royal and Celebrity will actually have access to Perfect Day Mexico.
No whether other lines want to go there after 2027 remains to be seen. I would not be surprised to see Carnival focus more on Progress.
Expect more of this to occur throughout the Caribbean and even across the globe. In some ways this is nothing new, as Carnival has owned Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic for years as an alternative port for Puerto Plata. Royal will probably start on a Perfect Day destination somewhere in Asia after they finish the one at Costa Maya.

The eight days are usually fairly close in price but the 6 days that have to go with the 8 days on that type of schedule are much much cheaper on Panorama. I just looked at a few upcoming months. In July of next year 6 days on Panorama start at $679, Horizon start at $979. They aren't all so extreme in the difference but a 30% difference is substantial.
And then if you compare Firenze to Elation, Paradise, Sunrise, Valor, Freedom, Breeze, all the other ships doing a 4 and 5 day schedule, Firence is almost always the cheapest. And some of those are the oldest ships in the fleet compared to one of the newest.
I still think Carnival is missing out on not putting Firenze in Seattle seasonally. Of course at some point the Alaska market becomes saturated as well, given that sister brands Princess and Holland America have a massive deployment there. But if Firenze is in Seattle, Spirit or Luminosa could work elsewhere during that season.

Actually, in both countries where Carnival registers their ships, you need a license to carry a firearm, and I doubt the person had a license in Panama or Bahamas. It is a criminal offense to have an unlicensed firearm in both countries.
The real question is how many countries' laws she broke by doing this. All of the ships that homeport in Port Canaveral except Mardi Gras and Venezia are registered in Panama. There almost certainly was a call to the Bahamas, possibly other countries.

That’s what I wanna know, some users on here have said Carnival offloaded their share, which is how they took and resold Atlantica. I would think the article above would have mentioned something but outside of that, I also can’t find much if they are still involved or not.
It was disclosed in Carnival's 10-K for 2023 (page 16):
"During 2023, we completed the exit of our noncontrolling interest in Adora Cruises Limited, formerly CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Limited, a China-based cruise company (“Adora Cruises”), and recognized
losses on exit of $21 million within other income (expense). As of November 30, 2022, our investment in Adora Cruises was $70 million. We provided an immaterial amount of services to Adora Cruises during 2023, 2022 and 2021 and we paid Adora Cruises a total of $55 million for the lease of ships during 2021. During 2021 we made capital contributions to Adora Cruises in the amount of $90 million."- 3

^^^did not know that! I’ll be on MSC Meraviglia. Wondered same thing about coverage.
I was on Seashore recently, you should have plenty of options for live television, news or otherwise. They had quite a few channels you typically would not have in the US.

I’ve never been on a ship that doesn’t have at least one news channel on the cabin tv. I’m SURE the election will be covered all
day (and night!)
The "CBSN" channel is not actually live. That is the only news channel Carnival carries in the cabins.

Ahoy!
So My husband and I will be on the Carnival Conquest on election night this year, specifically a Fun Day at Sea... without getting the internet access, which we really do try to avoid when we cruise, will there be anywhere on the ship, a bar, for example, where they will be playing an American News Network so that we can keep up with the progress? Thanks to anyone that has specific information!
No.

We should get some information about Jubilee's (and Mardi Gras' and Celebration's) new sister due in 2027 before too long.

Carnival really is a warm weather cruise line, perhaps more than any other. You’d think HAL, Princess, etc., would pick up the slack in the cold months though. I guess it isn’t enough.
There are some busy weeks in the fall and winter months like around Thanksgiving, New Year's, and President's Day, but there just isn't 10-12 weeks of high demand in a row like there is in Q3.
Carnival needs more Southern Hemisphere sailings to truly balance the seasonality. Unfortunately Australia has about 1/10 the population of the US. Australia and New Zealand also have caused the cruise industry a lot of pain the past few years. Brazil is a little closer to the US in population, but I don't think South America can match the North American market in terms of spending power. Carnival tried to get in Latin America with Fiesta Marina, but that didn't last too long. Not sure how well MSC does in Africa, but that's really about the only other option in the Southern Hemisphere. I believe Costa has some sailings out of South Africa but it's not close to a full-time home port.
Alaska is also a very profitable market. Carnival Corp is well positioned there as they have significant assets landside in addition to a large deployment to the region each season.

Ya I was going to say I think it was down on Guidance more than Q3. Still happy to hold on to my old and Covid shares since I think the profit engine kicks in eventually, but my guess is thats still 6+ Q's off.
Agreed. A lot of investors who look solely at the numbers are still going to see bad metrics on the balance sheet. It's going to take a few more quarters to shake that off.
1 hour ago, i_love_long_islands said:Interesting. Seems like the other lines are printing money and all indicate profits for years to come.
A profit of $0.05/share (Q4 estimate) is still a profit, but that's a big step down from $1.26/share (Q3). Carnival has always had seasonality, but it seems to be very pronounced.

It's back up over $18 right now, but still off from Friday's close.

Any idea why?
Back in late 2018/early 2019 the management of the government took over operations of the San Juan Cruise Port. The decision to renovate the port was made, and basically management did it without the involvement of the cruise lines. Royal Caribbean eventually canceled all calls that were not under contract. Carnival announced the discontinuation of home port operations as of January 2022.
Then of course, the world stopped.
Eventually port operations were outsourced to Global Holdings, and it looks like things are getting patched up, both literally and figuratively. Carnival Cruise Line may not return (at least for homeport operations), but Princess is returning in 2025.

1:00 PM EDT update from Carnival. Not surprising given Helene's center is forecast to be in South Central Georgia on Friday:
JACKSONVILLE – The port is currently closed.
- Carnival Elation 09/21/2024 – The ship is currently sailing a safe distance from the storm, en route to Jacksonville. Given the storm’s current location and track, it will not be able to return to Jacksonville today, Thursday, September 26. Once the storm passes and the port reopens, officials will be able to fully conduct a post-storm assessment before giving clearance to return. We are very tentatively anticipating sometime Friday, September 27, possibly Saturday, September 28.
- Carnival Elation 09/26/2024 – This voyage will not be departing Thursday, September 26. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. To stay up to date, please sign up for text alerts by texting CCL1 to CRUISE (278473).

We were booked on May 31, 2020 from OSJ. That cruise was cancelled because, well, we all know why... The voyage prior to that one I believe was cancelled as well. However the one prior to that went on as normal.
When cruising restarted after, yeah, that, they never resumed from OSJ. They also stopped sailing from Port Everglades as well.
I REALLY wish they would bring back the OSJ cruises. That itinerary was perfect.
Carnival was going to leave San Juan when Fascination was originally scheduled to reposition to Mobile in January 2022. Covid only accelerated the timeline.
The earliest realistic chance Carnival could resume homeport operations in San Juan would be 2027, assuming the fleet actually expands with Excel #4. A 2026 return would be on the table only if Carnival is willing to cut service somewhere else.
