We found it fine, i don't recall any issues. The cabin was mid ship and cabins on all sides, i didn't mind being at 5, but could be me, as i've been in a different places throughout the ship. We did get it via an upgrade offer, so we took it, from an oceanview.

A friend and I did Alaska on the spirit on June 2022, in a regular balcony on deck 5. It was the same CCL experience with an Alaska twist (some events and entertainers, naturalist basically being what I recall) as compared to the standard CCL experience. Otherwise, everything was on par with normal. The ship is good for Alaska with the covered pool area. Spirit class is a good sized ship. If you have any specific questions, happy to answer.

I think with a group as in your case, I'd go with a set time dining that way you all can meet up there at the set time, less coordination involved, especially if people part ways during the day.

If you are flying in the day of, my only two cents is avoid Jetblue like the plague, they are notorious for on-time arrivals / cancellations. Only 65% of their flights arrive "on time" in 2023, worse of any US carrier operationally speaking. Of course any airline can mess up, but statistically better off taking your business elsewhere.

Sidebar: I usually tip the waiter the first night. I may be stuck in my ways, but I do like set dining, for set tablemates in addition to the waitstaff. I've done YTD too, and the flexibility is a pro, that is something to be said for.

I sailed on her on a 4 day to Bahamas in December 2022, Nassau and Princess Cay. I think it is a good sized ship. I didn't have any issues with the ship and had the same great crew i know to expect. If you have any questions, can try to answer.

Is being fired a common thing as far as the did not return/got fired in last year bucket? I've not heard that before but interesting if they are shortstaffed/in need.

The date is coming up, I'm on the 12/16 Magic sailing too! I don't have an excursion in Grand Turk either, i'll probably be either on the ship or the beach/Margaritaville too. I'm curious on how the size will be an impact, I've only been on "smaller" ships, largest being the Glory, but more recently the Spirit/Sunrise.

Eric Brouman was a great CD, I'm not sure his whereabouts now but the "voice from above" is the top of the list. I like Tyler who I had on the sunrise of the current cast of CD's - great personality and engaging with the guests sortof like Eric B.

I got the HAL one today also, even though I keep checking for a CCL one.
