  1. Our earliest bookings are now Nov/Dec 2021 on the Spirit (Rome-Dubai-Singapore-Sydney) but don't really expect them to actually sail as planned. In a year's time it'll be clearer what could happen or not. We also have some other bookings in 2022. All with cruisenexts and fcc for deposits, nothing with new money.
  2. The letter covers the cancellation of the entire Australia/NZ summer season for the Jewel, and the Pacific crossings. The Alaska August/September cruises for sure will be cancelled as they're required (by law) to call at Canadian posts, and Canada is closed to at least November. Those will be a separate cancellation notice, as late as they can to delay refunds as long as possible. Leaving them on sale is misleading, but standard practice.
  3. The dates are inclusive - the Feb 27 Sydney-Tahiti is also cancelled (we were booked on it, and got the notice). So there's a three week gap from "Feb 21 return to service" until the next cruise, currently Mar 14th, Tahiti to Honolulu, which is not (yet) cancelled. Maybe a 14 day crew quarantine as well as reposition. But it's all just wishful thinking and maybes at this stage. Rob
  4. Just received from NCL an email like this for each cruise we booked in Jan/Feb 2021, including the Feb 27, 2021 Sydney to Tahiti: "As a result of changes to the redeployment of our fleet, all Norwegian Jewel sailings from September 25, 2020 through February 27, 2021 have been cancelled. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be advised that a full refund will be automatically returned to the form of payment provided at the time of booking. As we are sure you share our disappointment, we have issued a future cruise credit, worth 10% of the price paid for your previously scheduled cruise. This credit can be used for up to one year from today's date and can be applied towards any of our currently published sailings between January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2022. The future cruise credit will be available on June 15, 2020." Maybe first Jewel sailing will be Mar 18 2021, Tahiti to Honolulu, as that's not cancelled (yet). Rob
  5. Jewel cancelled this northern winter. Just received emails from NCL, cancelling each of our cruises in Jan/Feb 2021, including Feb 27, 2021 Sydney to Tahiti: "As a result of changes to the redeployment of our fleet, all Norwegian Jewel sailings from September 25, 2020 through February 27, 2021 have been cancelled. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be advised that a full refund will be automatically returned to the form of payment provided at the time of booking. The future cruise credit will be available on June 15, 2020." So maybe starting Mar 18, Tahiti to Hawaii, as that one isn't cancelled (yet). Rob
  6. Most of the ship locators, including vesselfinder, are showing "The vessel is en route to OAKLAND,S.F, and expected to arrive there on May 12, 15:00.". I didn't spot that the location had been updated (to the same location) since then, thanks both. The text only gets changed when it has a destination.
  7. Same for us, several of the cruises AU-NZ and back booked, in case local cruising does go ahead. And wildly optimistic we're also booked again on Sydney-Tahiti-Honolulu in Feb/Mar on the Jewel. (We were on the Jewel on that route this Feb/Mar when Tahiti and other ports got closed, so we'd like to try again). Does anybody know where the Jewel is now? Online ship locators show it was around Oakland (SF Bay) on May 12th, nothing since. Realistically I don't think the Jewel will head towards Australia/NZ until there's some reasonable indication there will be some ports open, and that it makes sense for revenue - would a market restricted to just AU/NZ cruisers in a travel bubble be viable, and how would the crew enter? I don't think it'll happen by this southern summer, but maybe. Rob
  8. Excellent trip report, glad you enjoyed the cruise even if it didn't stop where originally planned. We were on the Jewel in the South Pacific at the same time as your cruise. We arrived at Honolulu (after ten consecutive sea days) about the time you reached Cape Town (our disembark started Mar 22, in a timezone 12 hours behind you). Like you we enjoyed the cruise, sea days are fine, and it felt like the safest place in the world while we were on board. Rob
  9. Log into your "My NCL" page on their website, it's the nine digit "Guest Number" a couple of lines below your name on the "My Account". And log in again for the other passenger to find theirs, or there's a name+birthdate lookup available when entering passenger information. You need the Latitudes number for each passenger, as that's where the future cruise credit it stored (like an account number). It's Norwegian's loyalty scheme (like airmiles). Rob
  10. Did you use their Latitudes number? It's tied to that. You can look up the Latitudes number with their name and birthdate, if you don't know it. Rob
  11. We were on the Sun for three cruises back-to-back to South America at the end of 2018, 39 days.. Great little ship, nothing really to complain about. We had an inside cabin as usual. Good service as crew get to know you, like on other smaller ships. The theatre is unusual, chairs and tables like a bar downstairs, so best position is the front of the balcony. Rob
  12. Same for us (we were also on the Jewel). Also nothing for the cancelled Mar 20 back to back cruise. We booked direct. No big deal, as prices are too high for a similar cruise next year, even with many discounts, we'll not make any future plans or bookings yet. Things are too likely to change. Rob
  13. Will any FCC appear under "my coupons and credits" on the account? We've never had FCC before. We should eventually have the 10% from a couple of Spirit (Asia season) cancellations, 125% from Mar 20 Jewel cancellation, and 150% from the Feb 28 Jewel (which we were on). So far, none are on the account, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. Rob
  14. Channel 9 in Sydney reported that all the Australians returning on the charter flight from the Jewel have been taken to a Sydney hotel for 14 days quarantine. Rob
  15. We left the ship Monday lunchtime. The bus from the ship went through a back gate at the airport to pull up directly alongside a Hawaiian Airlines charter plane, with security inspection on the tarmac. We're home safe, at our holiday home in Arizona. It was good to be able to keep in touch with those outside (and inside) the ship on Cruise Critic. Rob
