  1. Thank you so much, that is very helpful.  We don't have many MSC cruises available from Australia and I had never heard of them so I was not sure what to expect.  Ideally we would like to travel with other like people as we love meeting new people with similar interests, ages etc.
I know my question seems silly but other RCI fans who have travelled on both would know what I mean.  Maybe my question should have read "how different are the two and in what way?"

  2. Big Royal Caribbean fan here....  desperately want to go on 7 day Caribbean cruise on Symphony in May/June but it is SO expensive at this late stage.  Can get a very similar cruise on MSC for about 40% less.
My question is, am I going to be disappointed or is MSC a great cruise line also?  I know nothing about MSC at all.
We are a couple (39 and 42) very sociable and love adventure.

    Thanks for any advice.

  3. Hi all, has anyone cruised the Caribbean in September/October?  What is the weather like.  The cruises are so much cheaper (due to hurricane season I'm told).  To put it into perspective, it's $2194 in June and $1242 in September - that's a big difference, making me concerned.

This is going to be a bucket list holiday for me, so I would hate to get all the way over there and spend so much money only for the weather to be horrid.  I like it hot and sunny!

Any advice either way would be great.  Thanks

  4.  Hi, I'm really wanting to cruise in the Caribbean next year but I have no idea which ports to visit (South C, West C, East C, Mexico???).  I would ideally like to include Perfect Day in the itinerary also if I can.  My ideal ports would include amazing beaches/scenery, plus participate in some adventure activities.
If anyone is experienced with these ports and can help that would be fantastic!

    TIA
    Karen

  5. I have been checking almost daily for the past 3 months waiting for there to be a sale on the drinks packages for Ovation of the Seas (2nd Feb 19) but have not seen one sale.  Am I wasting my time checking?  I'm going to be seriously disappointed if the Premium package doesn't come down below $75 per day.  Last time we went we only paid $50 per day (was on Voyager though).

Is it because there are so many people on the ship, they don't want too many people drinking alcohol freely?  Surely people aren't paying that exorbitant price?

  6. Thanks for your replies so far :)

We would like to spend a day at one of the islands just relaxing and snorkelling, but we are quite interested in the activities such as zip lining, kayaking etc too.

Given there are two zip-lining tours available, I was wondering which one is better?

There are also many snorkelling trips available to various islands. Which ones weren't so crash hot and which ones were?

Can I book these sorts of activities once off of the ship? I want to book actual tours, not just drivers etc.

I guess what I am trying to avoid (if possible) is getting off of the ship only to find that we aren't keen on anything available and wish we had booked a ship tour.

  7. Hi all

I'm new to cruising and due to go on the Voyager in February.

I've always felt that cruising doesn't give you enough time in each location but I'm going to give it a try! I want to make the most of each location, so my question is:

What is the must do/definitely don't do shore excursions for these locations:

(Note - we are into beaches and activities, not really the villages etc)

    • Lautoka, Fiji
    • Suva, Fiji
    • Mystery Island, Vanuatu
    • Isle of Pines, New Caledonia
    • Noumea, New Caledonia

The ship excursions are extremely expensive so I wanted to ask other's their experience of booking when they get off of the ship in these locations? Can I get the same tours/activities? Will I get the same amount of time? etc etc.

Given how expensive these tours are, I don't want to pay for one of these only to be disappointed, so I would be most grateful to hear your tips!

    Thanks in advance

    Karen
