  1. That's the % of suites I wish I was affording hahah.
  2. IMO if I was affording a suite I'd be spending a lot more time in it than a normal cabin, and I'd be drinking IN the suite (at cost obviously since drink package drinks aren't coverered for room service).
  3. When my husband and I cruise we usually put some magnetic butterflies on for the same reason. That being said, my elderly mother really appreciated them for HER to find the room - not for that reason though haha.
  4. As someone going on her first Celebrity cruise in a couple of weeks, I appreciate this thread. 😁
  5. Nope, definitely NOT a PCR test. You could have used a rapid antigen test in Feb 2022, as long as it was observed and not a self-test... no way it was a PCR test for $16.99. As well, PCR tests are processed at a lab, and even with a rush test, you're not getting it back in 90 minutes. Here's discussion about the "$16.99 test" and it is a rapid antigen test. https://flytrippers.com/covid-19-test-canada-travelers/
  6. A $16 PCR test in Canada? Not likely. This had to be an antigen test...
  7. Must be our Canadian internet or something. πŸ˜„ Thanks for the screenshot @prmssk
  8. Yep, same thing before our cruise in April, so many people getting stupid about whether our most-prevalant-online-proctored-test in Canada wasn't going to be good enough to board because it wasn't FDA approved... or something. Feel like the question is more "how can I game the system" vs just following the darn instructions.
  9. Weird, I can't see the schedule on that page - what about Edge?
  10. Wow - thank you SO much for the detailed information! I really appreciate it! October 15 we'll be following your advice πŸ™‚
  11. The most solid tip of all - no matter what type of card you have, ALWAYS choose the local currency. This secret little scam is called "Dynamic Currency Conversion" and it really adds up. For example, I paid for a €200 tour recently via PayPal, and it was trying to charge me in CAD. Found the settings and asked for the charge in euro, and the difference was almost €19!!
  12. Hello fine folks! Looking for someone who has recently DIY'd their own Cinque Terre tour by taking the train from La Spezia port to the train station and then the train from La Spezia to the towns. I've got my Cinque Terre Treno pass sorted, but looking to get from the port to the train station and vice versa. Where do you get bus tickets and where is the stop after the ship-to-port shuttle drops you off? Sounds like you can't just pay your fare on the bus. Thanks in advance as always...
  13. When you determine your last European port, this might help: https://www.globalblue.com/tax-free-shopping/refund-points/
  14. Oh no worries, didn't think you were looking down on them at all - in the end they are 'entry level' when it comes to it. We just never felt it was worth a more expensive/fancier ship to just cruise to Mexico or the Caribbean since it's more of a beach-type vacation and those are the only ones we've done so far. I definitely prefer Carnival to RC though to actually save, we an always swing a balcony on Carnival and RC nickle and dime WAY too much for specialty dining... TBH the Mardi Gras was AMAZING - all the beautiful venues of a more expensive line and SO many free dining options. We only managed to get on the Mardi Gras due to a cancelled cruise rebooked 3x due to COVID (we were on a repositioning from Hawaii to Vancouver on an older ship). The new ships on cruise lines are insanely expensive usually and we always end up on older/smaller ships. This time though we're treating ourselves since it's our 20th anniversary cruise (and a happy accident we're ending up on Edge because our Infinity cruise got cancelled when they moved to the Caribbean) and I think I'm going to be spoiled. I'm already looking at one on the Summit - chances are if we cruise Celebrity again it will be on an older Celebrity ship. I'd cruise a lot more if we lived closer to a cruise port, but coming from the middle of Canada it's almost $1500 CDN for us just to FLY down there so gotta save where we can.
  15. I'LL BE THE JUDGE OF THIS! Haha. First Celebrity Cruise next month and I'm SO excited. We haven't afforded Celebrity until now and instead have only cruised Carnival and RC in the past (so damn expensive to fly to the cruise port and THEN pay the fare!). I can't wait, and I fully expect it to be a much different and classier experience than the other lines, the food alone! I like to drink, but I really cannot abide seeing people be rude and entitled to the staff. When I drink I get even friendlier and tip like a demon - I agree with those who said the people who drink aren't nearly as bad... I'm one of them.
  16. Big ol' bump but this is the cabin we got when we bid to Move Up from an Oceanview on Deck 3 - so excited! Thank you so much for this wonderful thread.
  17. You don't understand. French Toast for the Mr. is an absolute GAME CHANGER haha.
  18. Apperantly there are many more options for CC breakfast: Enhanced Room Service Breakfast Menu You will have access to slightly-expanded breakfast options when using room service versus those traveling in cabins without balconies. This includes: More cooked-to-order egg options: omelet (but with a very limited selection of add-ins) fried eggs poached eggs boiled eggs plus the scrambled eggs available to everyone More meat options: Canadian bacon salami Black Forest ham Danish ham plus the bacon, link sausage, breakfast ham, and corned beef hash available to everyone More fruit options: kiwi pineapple grapefruit plus the honeydew, cantaloupe, and bananas available to everyone More cereal options: grits oatmeal granola berry parfait plus the standard cold cereal brands like Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, Frosted Flakes, and Special K available to everyone More bread and bakery options: French bread bran muffins blueberry muffins multi-grain toast onion bagels plus the danishes, plain bagel, whole wheat toast, rye toast, croissant, English muffin, and white toast available to everyone More juice options: V8 juice grapefruit juice tomato juice prune juice plus the orange juice, cranberry juice, and apple juice available to everyone Pancakes: buckwheat blueberry banana plain French toast Smoothies: strawberry mixed fruit blueberry-watermelon Omega 3
  19. Thanks again to everyone who answered... I guess I was more asking if I could potentially change locations than an outright no - seems that you may be able to but I'm super glad it didn't even become a worry since we got a GREAT location anyway. I know the Concierge Class isn't too much of a thing for people who cruise often but we are ecstatic - we LOVE getting room service breakfasts in the morning before we hit port - the enhanced menu alone makes me excited. ( What can I say, I'm easily impressed πŸ˜πŸ˜†πŸ˜„)Going to miss the lunch since we chose the last possible embarkation time to maximize our time in Rome but oh well, we have the Chef's Table booked for that night so want to go in hungry anyway!
  20. Thanks all - got our cabin location and I am thrilled, on a high-deck, mid-ship... totally happy! Won't bother asking to move because it's perfect πŸ™‚
  21. CELEBRITY MOVE UP TRACKER Ship: EDGE Length of Cruise: 10 Cruise Sail Date: 10/14/2022 Date email offer received: 07/31/22 Captain’s Club Tier Classic (via powerup points, this will be our first Celebrity Cruise) Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: Direct Current Cabin: Oceanview Deck 3 Bid? We had an oceanview on a higher deck but we accepted an Edge class ship no problem even on the low deck - a day longer too! 22. Yep... pretty sure you'd end up with a nice "T" line and it would be invalid. The tests I have on stock are too precious up here in Canada to waste one to check, nor do I consider this a nice honest idea, although I hear the joke in the OP's voice surely haha. We'll be taking a kit for proctored tests (pre-purchased - can test online over camera) AND a joe-regular unproctored test kit just in case. You never know when anything is going to change, and we're prepared for both. Especially because we are flying internationally to Europe and also coming home to Canada where things are currently no-test-required for us Canadians, but can change any time.
  23. I'm not sure but I think that the test would come out as invalid if you did this as it would not detect any genetic material. Maybe you have to stick the swab elsewhere? πŸ˜„
  24. We have some bids in for a MoveUp on our cruise next month. I definitely do not want an obstructed view balcony - looking right now there are a ton of verandas to be had so I'm hoping we have a good chance of getting one (we're in an oceanview on Deck 3 right now - not my first choice but ended up there after we had a lift/shift from the Infinity when they moved it to the Caribbean). If we are successful, can we say no if we really don't want the new cabin? As well, do we find out our cabin number in advance and can we ask for different location options if available?
  25. Exactly this. Those of us lucky enough to cruise not only once but several times are truly blessed.
