  1. FLIslandGirl3: In your situation, Peregrina651 offers good advice. Our situation is below. We liked our flight itinerary for Iceland in July so we had it ticketed. We go over and return on a 737 in the forward cabin of 16 seats sometimes designated as Business Class, but on this flight apparently designated as Premium Economy. We don't mind the short hop up to Toronto to catch the flight nor the return home from Montreal in the same type aircraft as our international flight but in the designated Preferred Economy section farther back in the aircraft. Going to and from Iceland in nice, comfortable seating with pleasant service we consider a bit of "pampering." It is, after all, a vacation where we expect to receive a bit of pampering on the Viking Mars.
  2. We are upset but are in the process of booking a similar itinerary, but in reverse, on the Vista in later September. They don't offer much in the way of consideration for the disruption of people's plans, "We are happy to extend a $250 shipboard credit per stateroom on your new booking, whether on Allura or any ship in our fleet sailing in 2024 or 2025." How generous.
  3. If Lord&Taylor were still around I'd buy some clothes there to wear on our upcoming Oceania cruise. But it's not, so I'll just wear my Kohl's clothes and ignore any snooty comments.
  4. Thank you for posting these, CurlerRob.
  5. OK. Sorry, I thought you were being a bit snarky, but obviously not. So far as coffee, I got a decent answer. Perhaps the original poster who asked about coffee would like to start a thread.
  6. I guess this is the tea thread. Funny, it is supposed to be the tips for new Viking Cruisers thread.
  7. I too would like to see a discussion about coffee. Presumably it is a European style not American style, but which brand and the strength of the coffee available in the restaurants is important. When we lived in Germany there were some German coffees that were way too strong for us but others that were quite good. Thanks for any insight.
  8. Thank you for this question. When we booked our first Viking cruise, our Viking consultant told me the gym on Mars had kettlebells. Can anyone confirm Viking ships have kettlebells in the gym? Thanks.
  9. We enjoyed an aft balcony on the previous Rotterdam and had one on deck 7 on a recent sailing on the new Rotterdam. The view is great. However, on the new Rotterdam, the azipods sometimes woke us early in the mornings. That was a bit annoying. In another thread about aft balconies, there is a discussion of this matter.
  10. We were on the recent 11 day Rotterdam Caribbean cruise. It was our first time on a larger HAL ship. Trying to leave the World Stage when the music venue crowds overflowed was not fun, but that was not a long delay. We enjoyed the overall experience including our cabin and veranda. We had a bit of an issue with what seemed to be rather small bathrooms compared to the same stateroom category on other class ships. The Retreat, a private area consisting of tented cabanas, intrigued us. We heard one person gets a cheap inside cabin and rents a cabana for the entire cruise. A cabana, hot tub, and private service seems to be a very good idea.
  11. Interesting. We board the Rotterdam on the 18th at FLL. So one ship gets 26 and the other another terminal? Never cruised out of FLL. Just came from the PEV schedule and POA1 is correct, it doesn't go out that far yet.
