  1. To answer your question the single entree lobster is bigger than what you get with the surf and turf. If possible, I would throw in the additional $15 and eat at the steakhouse, very nice dinner. My wife and I eat there once or twice every cruise and have never had a bad entree, app, side or dessert. If you go on the first night of your cruise you will receive either a free bottle of their house wine or 50% off any bottle of your choice. Cheers!!

  2. Great Deal! Immediately after I posted this back in July, started thinking, why not cancel my Oct. 6 cruise on Horizon, which was an Ultra cruise, but not much of a discount and book through the casino for a free balcony on the Horizon for the premier cruise on Oct. 20 for an 8 day southern caribbean cruise. Did it that day, so now, a free balcony in Oct. and another one over New Years...what a country!!

  3. Received an email about an hour ago from Carnival's Players Club for a free balcony cabin, last time I received this offer only 2 sailings to pick from. This one there were about 15 or so. Jumped on a New Years cruise out of Galveston, grabbed 1 of the last 2 balconies available. Only paid port fees, taxes, etc. We are already booked on the Horizon in Oct. on an Ultra cruise but had to pay considerably more, oh well, just glad this came along and was able to book it.

  4. Received an email this morning for the Ultra cruises stating I could start reserving later this evening. No free room, just $525 off a room per person. Still receive all the perks, but the lowest cost of an interior room was around $800 pp so even with the $525 off, not that great of an offer especially if you want to upgrade. Wife has been wanting to try other cruise lines, but have been reluctant due to the fact our last 4 cruises have been a free room, DOU cards, etc.

  5. I have found that good tipping equals stronger drinks,,,,this means that a lot of times you will need to go to the same bartender each time. Best to figure out which bars you are most likely to go to and tip a particular bartender generously and keep returning. Same thing in the event you have a DOU card for the casino, pick out a couple of waiters and tip them generously on your original drink, after that that if they see you in the casino, hanging around the bar or just looking for a table to sit at, they will be more than happy to get you a drink, playing or not playing...they know what;s going on, but as long as they are being tipped they don't care. The only problem in the casino is your drink will be a regular one shot drink and not that extra pour as the bartender has no idea who he is making the drink for.

  6. Been to the Steakhouse on the Freedom (2x), Dream and Breeze. All were superb. We go on the first night, free bottle of house wine or 50% any bottle of wine. Not a bad way to start the cruise and the MDR seems to be a little of a madhouse on the first night. The last 3 cruises the casino comped us a dinner with our choice of wine during the middle of the cruise. I wouldn't mind eating there every night, but I seem to forget to make reservations and of course we always make the elegant nights in the MDR.

  7. I also received the Matilda cash cow email for a free balcony room, but only 2 sailings to choose from. Already had plans but, if I hadn't I would have jumped all over one of them, included DOU and all the premier perks.

  8. Thank you, also out of curiosity, do you happen to know what mode of transportation they are using from the port to the airport? We were considering Uber or Lyft, as opposed to the shuttle, but if we take a later flight we will not be in a hurry to get to the airport. We normally do the self assist so we are off the ship pretty quickly.

  9. First time on a Premier Cruise, can anyone tell me approximately what time does the welcome aboard cocktail party begin, how long is it and what is the proper attire? Also any other tidbits regarding premier cruises would be appreciated. We will be on the Breeze, March 4th...our 4th carnival cruise in the past 16 months, first time to sail on the Breeze...can't wait!!

  10. Following as my wife and I will be on the Breeze this March. We have a 12:20 flight out of Hobby to catch. I will say that last year we were on the Freedom and self assisted from deck 2. We were sitting at our gate at Hobby at 10:45 for our 1:00 flight. Just hoping the deparkation on the Breeze will be......well.....a breeze!

  11. I've been asking myself the same question, we know that if you have a TA, Carnival will not even answer a simple question if you call the 800 number, so what are the chances of Carnival calling me directly for an upgrade or upsell?

  12. My wife and I were on the Dream last July and they were using pre-cooked pastrami and corned beef, they would just reach into a canister with a pair of tongs and slap it on the bread, meat was very mushy at best, nothing like what we had on the Freedom back in April and Sept of 2016, there they would carve it cook it, toast it if you wanted it that way, add extra ingredients, etc. of course it took a little longer, but I'd rather wait than eat what they were making on the Dream.

  13. While I don't personally use a TA, I have read multiple posts here on this board where others have been able to book their casino offers through their TA. Just be aware that Carnival will likely not provide any customer service to you if you reach out to them, but will instead refer you to your TA who may work fewer hours than the 24 hour Carnival customer service available.

I had a Players Club Offer just the other day, the cabins were going fast and I could not reach my PVP, so called our TA and she booked it. I happened to be looking at our "cruise details" a couple of days later and Carnival had my son's email address listed for me, have no clue how Carnival even had it as he has never cruised with Carnival. Thought I'd just call Carnival directly and have it corrected. Man was that a mistake, the customer care lady was as about as rude as anyone I had ever talked to because I had used a travel agent. Needless to say I had to contact the TA and she was able to get it changed. But there's just no reason for that.
